Thread: *After The Cleanse*

    hi girls,

lots of delicious smells coming from my kitchen:

after making the stuffed mushrooms, i had left over stuffing. i flattened the remainder and placed it into the "Big E" for another 12 hrs. took an avacado, 1 T. flax seed oil, pinch of salt; mashed it and spread it on a piece of the stuffing. Then sprinkled it with nutritional yeast = oh baby, yummmmy!. (nutritional yeast = parmesean cheese)

    Today i made:
Breakfast: C-Blitz - The Juicing Bible (grapefruit, orange, kiwi, & Parsley)
Rosemary Crackers - Complete Book of Raw - (oooow, soaking those sesame seeds gets pretty gooooey)
    Cucumber-Dill Salad - Rawvolution
Tomato Salsa - Living on Live Food
Corn Tortillas - RawFood RealWorld (even the raw batter was worth licking)
Hummus - Eat Smart/Eat Raw (made with sprouted chick peas)

took a tortilla, spread some hummus, sprinkled some chopped-up arugula, inserted 3 falafels, and topped with salsa - folded like a taco and VOILA! I thought my husband would not be satisfied, but i was wrong; he was a finger linkin' man!

I am spending way too much time in the kitchen. I'm a furniturer maker and haven't spent a minute in my studio since this new 'life-style'. This coming weekend we're going to visit our daughter in N.J. and i had hoped to finish a cherry kitchen table i've been working on,,,,, but no,,,,,i'm too busy whipping up new receipes for myself.

well gotta get my Candied Pumpkin Seeds - RawFood RealWorld into the 'Big E'.

love our little 'fam' - cindi

oh my gosh, so many thoughts:

SPROUTING - yup, i soaked chick peas, then rinsed for 3 days and they sprouted! I'M A SPROUTER! They looked like FAT SPERM!

GARDENS - 2 yrs. ago i planted a veggie garden. I started all my seeds indoors (taking over lots of space), lugged them outside during the day, lugged them inside at night until it was planting time. Made my raised beds, neat little rows with cute little tags , and surrounded my new garden with marigolds (to deter animals). With all my new tender little plants in the ground, i slept. The next morning i see my neighbor and bring her to my masterpiece of a garden and . . . . OH NO! the only thing left are the green pepper plants. MUNCH, MUNCH, MUNCH those little bastards scarfed everything! I just stood there with tears rolling down my cheeks and my neighbor did all that she could do from "busting a gut" laughing histerically. Good Luck Black Thumbs - I'll be going to the market!

ALMOND MILK - i haven't made any and don't have nut bags. Do you make it to just drink it straight up? it doesn't sound so appealing to me.

POTATOES - i made sea salt & vinegar chips from fingerling potatoes. i really didn't care for them. maybe i soaked them too long in the vinegar.

ROAD TRIP - Lets Talk! Here's the deal. We can get a class 4-6hrs for $125.00 pp. She's taught by Alissa Cohen and happens to be a close friend to her. This class would be a "cooking" class. You can come and stay at my house (plenty of room - empty nest). It could be weekdays or a weekend, we just need to coordinate. Weekdays, i'm easy - the 1st weekend between myself & Lisa would be March 3Oth. Maybe the summer is more convenient - though i think we'll all be "professionals" by then.

So that's all the scoop - good nite

    Hey all,
Just thought I'd check in - I officially ended the cleanse on day 26 - didn't really want to (my secret goal was 42 days), but, RES, I also had the flu from hell. (Actually all 4 of my family had the flu from hell - one week at a time ugh! what a month!) I couldn't drink anything but water during the flu, so kept "cleansing" so to speak. But by the time I felt better, I couldn't stand the thought of lemonaid, plus my son had finished his cleanse and all my new kitchen equipment and books from Amazon had arrived - it was just time to move on. So I'm still coming off with green smoothies and light juices. You know this cleanse/fast can be really expensive! New vitamix, Big E, food processor, sprouting stuff, books and stocking the pantry with organic stuff. But I feel good (dada dadda - hear that James Brown in the air?) I've lost 15 pounds so far since Jan 11. My son lost 15 pounds in 10 days - lucky duck!

Anyway, just wanted to say Hi and check in on ya'll.

Hi darjeelingirl~ Congratulations on finishing your cleanse...and with the flu!!! 26 days is a fantastic run...don't feel badly about not going longer!! Glad you and your son have recovered and have lost weight and feel great. Yes, it can be expensive...we're all finding that, but once you purchase your "toys", it's like any other thing. Ovens cost a lot of money too! The organic things do cost a lot...something like 57% more. But I looked online for a list of the Top 20 Foods to Buy Organic and it helps...some things definitely should be organic (apples top the list) and some things are a little less important. Check it out by googling the phrase and see what you find. We love our bulletin board and have become really supportive of each other...welcome and write often!

    CONGRATULATIONS DARLJEELINGIRL !

That's awesome! Going RAW is awesome as well. It's easier than one may think and sort of exciting (in an expensive way) to be "cooking" in an unconventional manner. Once you fire up those shinny new TOYS you'll see what i mean.

hey TEEPEE - did you try any of those receipes from VM sprial book? Mine should be here by the end of the week, so i'm counting on you to whip up something tasty and just give me the page #.

Now this class you're going to do, are you going to 'shlepp' all your toys with you and feed them as well? Let me know how you're planning on structuring, so i can keep my eyes out for any receipes that would just WOW everyone; quick and easy ones of course.

and SIM - i also got my Omega for $211 (no sales tax in N.H.). i ordered from www.2-life.com and ordered an EasyGreen Sprouter w/Wheatgrass tray as well. Yesterday i made a juice, which had parsley, in my Breville, it mostly ended up in the pulp bin. Have you used the Omega for many greens yet?

I promised myself that i wouldn't spend my day in the kitchen today, but nooooooooo, this morning i had to make some Swiss Cheese - Living on Live Foods, 7hrs. in the 'Big E'; just so i had something for my Rosemary Crackers.
    I think i need therapy!

    Talking Re: *After The Cleanse*

You guys are hilarious. This is what I was hoping this thread would morph into!!

Thanks to everyone for the "well-wishes".

darjeelingirl: I feel for you. *hug* This is the worst flu I've ever had. I was on Day 6 and thought I was impervious to any type of sickness while cleansing....boy was I wrong. I had a high fever for 4 days and couldn't knock it out no matter what I did. Just "moving" was painful. I'm so glad it's over. I hope you're doing better.

You guys are so inspiring. I can't wait to try some of these recipes and get the books! I've been "juicing" and enjoying it for the most part. I'm still a bit sluggish but look forward to diving in with the rest of you. I have another cleanse planned for the first week of March.

Love you all for your enthusiasm!

I'm with you on that. I felt sooooooo good on the cleanse the day before and was singing its praises to a couple of friends (who are still going to start a cleanse of their own in a few weeks). But the next day, WHAM! I could literally feel the virus crawling through my body like, like, like... I don't know what like. And it sounds like the same flu - 3 people (kids - poor things) even died from it here in MN! Glad we all made it through!

On a lighter note, thanks for all the kudos, folks. I am glad to have done the 26 days and will do it again in a few months. It just feels so good to get cleaned out. I can't believe I actually miss the after feelings of the flush !

I am loving my vitamix - use it multiple times a day. Wish I had 2 or 3 of them. The dehydrator and I are slow in coming - the sound of it humming continuously actually bugs me. Will probably have to put it in my son's room who likes white noise. After reading the posts I'm also looking into a juicer and spiral thingy (which got really bad reviews on Amazon - is it the thingy or the people trying to use it?)

I love this wing of the board - going raw has been the answer to my weight/health issue prayers and it fits me perfectly. I finally feel alive physically - what a concept!

    Have a great day everyone!

here's a nice story: (for me)

I had a routine eye exam today. So the Dr.'s assistant came to the waiting room, called my name, and while escorting me to the exam room with my file in hand, she comments, "oh, we have the same birthday, i'm also born on June 6th, and have another 6, mine is in 1986".

She starts to slow her walk, looks a bit puzzled, and continues "seems as there is a mistake, it says you were born in 1960, that would make you 46!" I inform her there is no mistake, I am 46.

While doing the preliminary tests she kept staring at me. I was worried she wasn't paying much attention to line 3, E, C, T, D, 5. All the cute-as-a-button 21 yr. old wanted to know was what products i use on my skin, I didn't dare tell her that I have just gotten off a 40-day fast. She also threw her own mother under the bus, "my mom is 38 but looks 60".

I have to say, the best part was that it came from someone so young. And just think, this weekend i'll be cutting ELMO cake at granddaughters 3rd birthday party! (but not eating it )

    THANKS MC!
