dear miriam
I am so fortunate in many ways-- and one is being in the woods these days-- especially since the colors are just now turning-- and it is BEAUTIFUL!
Thanks for the thanks--About that carrot tops recipe-- i will tell you I got feedback from someone today-- that they came out kind of tough... so-- "go easy and beware!" but when they're done right they can be yummy-- once you get to like them. Put it this way- for people who have trouble with spinach and peas-- erhum these might be even harder!
hoping all's well with you.

LOL - mtmouse no way! just one week of experience with green smoothies?! That's OK; you can still be my guru on this topic.Originally Posted by mtmouse
You have one more week's experience than me! And, Peanutterb - you answered my question before I asked it! How smart is that?! Kale smoothie recipes to try out when I find my lactinato kale at the store. It's grown in my state so I should be able to find it somewhere.
About juicers - I really like my raw fiber, so I'm sticking with the green smoothies for now and may graduate to a juicer later. I hear raves about them and I know they can do things my blender can't. Maybe after my next cleanse, I'll celebrate with a juicer or a dehydrator. Hmm...
Aww, Mrs.Squigs - I'd come to your party - or to the bar - with you. Last weekend at my niece's wedding, with the open bar, I found that sparkling water with a lime really hit the spot and with all the sparkling conversation and bar noise, I was beginning to feel a little giddy and light-headed. Try it out! It might work for you. And no one would have known I wasn't drinking. I love the way you're looking at this - it's a life transformation; not a 10-day cleanse. I'm cheering you on!!![]()

I am so fortunate in many ways-- and one is being in the woods these days-- especially since the colors are just now turning-- and it is BEAUTIFUL! I will tell you- that sometimes-- despite all my good fortune it is hard for me to SHOW UP to my life-- and-- I think you sound like a wonderful person! I just deleted my previous post because I thought it too harsh-- and I just can't figure out how to say things sometimes!
yes sopheesta if i understand you correctly i have the same problem. sometimes i believe i am too sarcastic. or blunt. so i feel you sister. you seem sweet to me! helpful for sure.
i was really curious about the mental aspects of the cleanse. would i be less angry for example? less frustrated? i had a couple days during the cleanse where i was mean and cranky to people like cashiers and valets. nice. now i do feel a little more even tempered and calm. maybe i will become zen on the next one.
i mentioned the carrot top recipe to my mom and she mentioned they are an acquired taste. i don't care i'm goin for it!
dear miriam
I did it again-- edited my post-- but I missed seeing yours-- so u caught what i said-- ha ha...
as for being cranky on the cleanse-- it is most likely a "detox symptom" #3 on Peter's list in FAQ:
http://therawfoodsite.com/forum/faq....detox_symptoms is "Irritability"
heavy emotions can come up during the cleanse. If you think of them as detox symptoms, it helps...![]()
thanks for what u said (again!)
as for the carrot tops-- yea --how funny! well I acquired a taste for them-- all at once when I went to this friend's house-- and she made them for dinner. they were served up nice-- just like 2 spoonfulls and I wished i could have more and more at the time-- and I've been making them ever since.
but to get back to your question-- i think the idea is-- when you GET RID of the toxins, and do the "emotional detox"-- then AFTERWARDS-- yes--you would be less angry... glad to hear you're more "tempered and calm"... ah, zen!

Guess who had a semi green smoothie this morning???
me!
blended a handful of kale with orange juice. added my soaked walnuts. a banana. frozen strawberries. frozen peaches. dates. and lots of love blended well.
it was delicious and not really green, but it had specks of green.
and quite filling as usual.
i think i'm eating too much nuts. yesterday i had the smoothie with nuts. then a lara bar, with nuts. then for lunch a salad with nuts. and for dinner a sandwich with almond butter. hm. just don't think i should have so much nuts and oils etc.
i'm going to have to rethink my menu. but the nuts surely keep me full.

Well, I made it to the "after the cleanse" board. I feel like the new kid at school just realizing I'm wearing the wrong jeans. I wish I'd done this two days ago. Thanks peanutterb for sending me here. I guess I'm not as message board savvy as I thought.Originally Posted by peanutterb

So, I really needed FOOD, so I added celery with a touch of organic peanut butter. You know, the kind that you have to stir and put in the fridge that we wouldn't have TOUCHED As kids? Wow was that yummy...and painful. I seem to be having a lot of tummy issues. I think I'm going to go back to broth, juice and applesauce for a couple more days and see if that helps.
Also, I read back a few pages where someone developed a dry cough. That started for me this morning and my sinus congestion came back last night. That wonderful, I can smell what you ate last night night, sense oc smell...gone. So very sad. My husband thinks I'm allergic to peanuts. I think he might be right. I think the cleanse may have just clarified all the workings of my body. I had a few sips of beer the other nght and it hit me FAST...and was gone fast too. Amazing.
So, instead of coffee in the morning, I have found the wonders of what I call "Fungus in a Glass." I guess it can be called a green smoothie, but it's from a powder I got from the health food store (I think it's called Ph Green). It's got all kinds of good green stuff in it from weeds to grass and back to weeds again. It tastes horrible too! YAY! I have found if I mix a bit of cranberry juice in it it's pretty darn tasty though. I don't miss the caffeine at ALL and I find that I'm craving stuff that's good for me. Before the MC I woulnd't have been caught dead sipping on a glass of weeds and dirt...and LIKING it! Oh yeah, and I'm taking my probiotics religiously.
Those of you who know me from the October board know that I ramble...so I'll stop now!
Peanutterb: Here's to the NUTS! Love them!
yes! i can't stop eating nuts and nut butters! gotta look into some alternative. yesterday i had baba ganoush with tahini, essene (or manna sprouted bread type raw stuff) with peanut butter and i pureed bananas and froze them and added almonds for an ice cream alternative and had that. too much fat i would think.Originally Posted by peanutterb
sopheesta also i bet a new attitude could be attributed to the absence of caffeine, sugar, white flour (i almost just typed in shite flour hm) and whatever other junk i was eating before.
that was weird i caught the pre-edited post! well off to whole foods for carrots and nut alternatives.
welcome to the other side GravyGirl
you probably ate something either your belly wasn't ready for or that it doesn't want. after a cleanse your belly will let you know exactly how it feels about things in a clear and open manner. lol.
last night I had a salad at my aunt's house for dinner and then all night I was feely gassy and gross and burping up a storm. When I asked her what she had in it - lettuce. good. cucumbers. good. tomatoes. good. raisins. okay. craisins. eh, not sure, haven't had any post cleanse. canned peaches. ding ding ding!
so there we have it folks. my stomach does not like canned peaches and while I barely ate any, I didn't even notice the salad had it in there, apparently my stomach noticed and was not happy.
Thing #2 my body may not like - sundried tomatoes. Had some in a kale salad yesterday and got an itchy throat and sneezed. Had some again today and ahah, itchy throat and stuffiness.
So that's no canned peaches and no sun dried tomatoes.
Thanks tummy, it was nice talking to you today.
oooooh, let me tell you lovelies what I had for lunch today, *recipe alert*
Leafy lettuce, don't know what kind they are, but they're the ones that are huge dark green leaves
I made a sory of guacamole with avocado, lime juice, onions, celery and garlic with a touch of sea salt, cayenne and braggs. mashed that all up into a paste and spread it on a piece of lettuce.
I added some strips of sun dried tomato, thinly sliced cucumber, and slivered raw soaked almonds and then a few drops of braggs amino acids on top. Then I wrapped that mother up and devoured it. It was awesome.
gotta run. gotta go to work. have some lemonade ready for the 5 hr shift and some bottled water and I'm good to go.
Have a great one everybody.
besos.
