it's moi! today is my 10th day and soooooooooo proud of myself. go, me.
i NEVER thought i could do this, and there are definitely some seismic changes that have occurred in the process.
i'm not going to go raw all at once, but i'm headed in that direction. for the next little while, i'm going to start by making some basic changes - many of which are big for me. ixnae on the diet coke. i'm finished with caffeinated coffee. i'm going to replace mile with soy milk. and i'm going to cut most of the meat and bread out of my diet altogether.
i'm also considering continuing to use the lemonade as a meal replacement for two meals a day, plus a light supper, though that makes me a little confused about how to come *off* the cleanse? hmm.
right now i'm headed out to whole foods to pick up my oranges and soup ingredients for tomorrow! i'm looking forward to eating, but i feel so go - i'll definitely do another cleanse this summer. at the moment the scale says i've lost nearly 20 pounds in 10 3/4 days on the cleanse (woulda been 11 were it not for my binge!). i'm PSYCHED about that and finally think i may have found something that's going to help me kick my weight issues for good!
as for that green hay smoothie res has been talking about, not sure if i'm ready for THAT! maybe i should add a little cayenne pepper and get an air sickness bag before i try it? yeah, that's the ticket...
I've been gone a couple of days and have to say that my eating habits are...ahem....not so great...BUT... tomorrow I start the MC again for another 10 days, so I guess I can't come back here until after then.
Will, congratulations on completing your first MC! I am also totally off of caffeine and don't even miss it.
Thank you all for your sympathies. I sorta inherited my grandmother 10 years ago when my father died, so I have been responsible for her care. And even though she lived in a nursing home, now that I no longer have to manage her care, I actually feel quite lost.
Anyway...enough about that. Res, I've been looking at your recipes. There are quite a few I would like to try after this MC.
Good luck to everyone... and I'll see you in 10 days.
well gang, since i'm going to keep doing a variation of the MC for the next month or so and see how i feel, i came *off* of it a little faster than is recommended. i did the OJ yesterday afternoon and all the way till today at lunch, and then i had a few small bites of homemade vegetable soup that more or less follows Burroughs' recipe. I also cooked some organic lima beands and threw them in - man, is it nice to CHEW something.
HOWEVER, i am committed to no coffee or diet coke. i already switched (back) to soy milk. and i'm going to try and eliminate bread from my diet, too. it's a journey for me, and i can't go vegan or raw all at once, but i'm definitely headed that way. and yesterday, while i was shopping at whole foods, i had such a sense of peace and control - very different for me - it was really cool.
quick question: does anyone know of some good cookbooks for vegetarian cooking for families and kids? others?
I have just completed 19 days of MC. I wanted to go to 21 but have been obsessed totally by all of this and the juice is now tasting a bit bad to me! This is my first time in both posting here and doing this.....I went to Trader Joe's and bought all kinds of fruits and veggies (to make soup mostly) I don't have a juicer but bought their OJ (which is delicious) and a lot of green juices and carrot juice.
I hope this transition is a good one......
The MC went really well.......I was shocked......everyone else is too for that matter. I took a whole lot of flack for this one!
Oh well get over it people!
I haven't felt this good in I don't know how long
The weekend was a nightmare for me. I gained 8 pounds in one day. I am not sure how that is even possible, and yet I achieved it.
I had ended my cleanse on Wed and done juice/vegies until Saturday. On Saturday, I had a bit of soup/salad. Sunday morning, I felt great and weighed just 1 pound more than on Wednesday. Sunday afternoon, I went to a BBQ and ate 'normally' (though still mostly vegetables, some tempeh, fruit, etc.) Monday morning, I weighed 8 pounds more than Sunday morning.
Offbase - I FEEL your pain. I'm not going through that presently, but I've been there.
I came off a 10 1/2 day MC (my first!) more less as recommended in the book. I accelerated just a bit, but my body was fine. HOWEVER, I've already started to make some changes in my diet and feel pretty good. No caffeine, milk, bread, snacking between meals, etc.
What I'm a bit concerned about is this: after I started eating soup, salad and vegetables I have continued to have MANY bowel movements. It's as if a lot of stuff is still moving through me. In the last 18 hours I've probably gone to the bathroom five or six times and am getting rid of a lot of solid stuff. Is this common AFTER a cleanse. It seems as if my system is still cleansing itself of a lot of guk - moreso than when I was on the cleanse. Sooooo, I'm just wondering if anyone else has had or is having that experience?
Offbase Buddy: I'm not sure what's up with that. Perhaps you should email Peter. I wish I knew. Keep an eye on things this week and then weigh in again on Friday. What's your current plan for eating?
Will Each cleanse is different for me, but I went through what you're going through 2 cleanses ago. It can't be a bad thing if you think about it. I felt fine, just got tired of the frequent bathroom visits. It balances out though.
Are you doing what you though you would? Drinking 2 meals and eating for one?
