Well, blanching is what's done in boiling water - water boils at 100 degrees. We don't heat our dehydrated food past 115 - so that's a good question! I suppose if you popped them in the water and then took them out quickly it would be OK. That's my quess.

    Yikes! Maybe not!

Blanching is the scalding of vegetables in boiling water or steam. Blanching slows or stops the action of enzymes. Up until harvest time, enzymes cause vegetables to grow and mature. If vegetables are not blanched, or blanching is not long enough, the enzymes continue to be active during frozen storage causing off-colors, off-flavors and toughening.

Actually, water boils at 100C, but 212F. We dehydrate no more than 105F.

So for rawbies, blanching's not so great.

Congratulations, Lin!I just got home from a wedding/family reunion in Texas, so I missed the end of your cleanse. I was watching you, as 21 days seems so long compared to 10!

I'm gearing up for my next cleanse right after Thanksgiving. I have never had issues with Christmas event eating, so that will not be a problem. I can go to a Christmas party and just drink something and not eat one bite! Don't know why, just can!

Anyway, wanted to share with the group that I had finished my first MC for 10 days, lost 11 pounds, and got food re-introduced back into my diet before going to Texas. The funny thing that I noticed is that I don't seem to be able to eat much at one time.

We went to the County Line Barbeque the first night (in Austin) and I ate 2 ribs, 2 bites of beans, and 1/4 of a roll, and I was full! And that is continues to happen, which I think is a GREAT thing!

Meddy: I'm *almost* here. Good to see you here!

Burping means too much food too soon. Cut back and try drinking juices and just soup broth for a day. Be sure to take Probiotics. They work wonders on helping you transition back to food. BM's can take a few days so be patient and drink a lot of water. *hug*

    cd2318: Nice to see you!

    YAHOOOOOO!!!
I did it! Im done, I finished my first cleanse. Im on day one of my post cleanse. This morning I had some orange juice, then this afternoon I ate some vegetable soup( just the broth) and a couple pieces of celery..lol.lol.
I lost a total of 20 lbs and Im hoping to keep it off. Im havent had any coffee yet. Maybe tomorrow. I feel great and am looking foward to my next cleanse. I hope all that are doing this cleanse have the same great expirience that I have. I am going to try and be conscous of what goes into my body. I think the whole vegan lifestyle is great, I dont think it is for me though. I dont crave meat, but I like the way it tastes when I cook it, so I will make my purchases from and organic meat market from now on and try and eat it only once a week. Thats a start. I will check in from time to time, I wish everyone the best and GODSPEED!...Matty
