Thread: *After The Cleanse*

    Hi Res,

I've discovered that it's a moot point anyway. I "drain" my soaked flaxseeds in a strainer and nothing comes out! They get so gummy that they just stick together, and I throw them into the food processor that way.

Works out fine! And they ARE yummy (the rosemary crackers--but I use less rosemary)!

Thanks Kathy - I'm just trying to get myself together for tomorrow (work), if I could take a day off I would. Still feeling blech...

Hee. He looks kinda like DH!

I worry more about his nasty hair than anything else, LOL.

    Hey there,

I am having my first really bad stomach problems since going raw. Made big raw feast with BF yesterday. He had no problems. Up all night. Drug myself into work only to turn around and leave. No vomitting yet (fingers and toes crossed) but severe nauseuosness and jabbing pains in belly. Bathroom "issues" too.

What's a raw girl to do? My cooked answer was always seltzer or ginger ale and saltines. I have had about 4-5 bottles of water, laid in bed all day and just managed a banana. Still feel awful. 99.7 temp. Could this be flu? Haven't been around anyone all week. Was off work for break.

I'm wondering if I should try to get out to store to get apples and ginger to juice? Don't have any in house because I just joined a co-op and pickup is Weds including 3 lbs apples.

ANY SUGGESTIONS??? How about herbal mint tea??

    Oh, TeePee,

I don't know what to tell you! I'm so sorry you're feeling so bad.

Mint tea sounds good to me. And I make my own seltzer at home, but that won't help you!

The other thing I do for stomach problems is baking soda. If my stomach is upset, then it will either calm it down or cause me to throw up, either of which helps! (BTW, if you do need to throw up, have a glass of water handy and keep drinking in between bouts--it makes those "dry heaves" so much less uncomfortable! Something about giving your stomach something to push against, I guess. Anyway, I no longer prefer death to vomiting , and getting the stuff out usually helps a lot.)

But mostly, if you have a virus, it's probably just time that will do the trick, not anything that you "take". So just pamper yourself and feel better soon!

And maybe someone else will have actually useful suggestions!

    thanks for quick reply, mtmouse!

How do you do the baking soda? By spoonful or dissolved in water, how much?

I know the "doctors" all recommend the BRAT diet for bad bellies. Banana, Rice, Applesauce, Toast. Well the rice is out, but darn it does toast sound sooo sooothing right now!!

I just called my wonderful mother. SHe is going to run out for apples and ginger and bananas for me. I live in Jersey and we are in midst of crazy rain/wind nor'easter. That kept me up all last night too.

I will try juicing the apples with the ginger. I had that a lot when first off cleanse.

    Hooray for TeePee's mom!

With the baking soda, I usually start with 1/4 tsp in about a half cup of water. If that doesn't work, I'll repeat it. Sometimes I just go straight to 1/2 tsp to start with.

Just down it, wait a bit. You'll either burp or barf! (And if it's the latter, don't forget that extra water! In between every heave!)

    Thanks, mtmouse.

The support here is so heartwarming!! (Even though I'm shivering!!) Funny how when you have a fever you freeze....

Just brewed some pure peppermint tea. Waiting for it to cool. If that helps great. If not, I'm going for the baking soda!!!

    Hope it works!

And you know, I was thinking: what's so non-raw about bottled seltzer? (I mean, except for it's probably just tap water or something.) It's just water and (hopefully) CO2. I wouldn't think that would be a "raw food" issue one way or the other. If we heat water for tea, what's wrong with putting it in a bottle?

Of course, I adore my homemade one, so I do control the water (RO filtered well water) and I know that there's no phosphorus.

Am I full of it here and an evil influence (I am fairly new to raw), or could you indulge in some soda water?
