Getting ready to leave for a 4 day trip. I'm sitting here eating sosme of the sweetest watermelon I've ever tasted. We're going to Fallingwater to see the Frank Lloyd Wright House. Then we're headed for Philly. Neither my BF or I have ever been there. It surprises folks, because we're from the DC area. We're gonna do the tourist thing and see the King Tut exhibit. I am bringing a bunch of food and salad dressing with me. Raw cereal, fruits, pates, veggies, almond milk, tamari and a sharp knife!
I haven't actually started the challenge yet, because of a company dinner on the 28th. But, right after! At this point my last cooked food was before the cleanse.
I'll have my 'puter with me, but am not sure if I'll be able to log on. So I may not be back till the 28th.

Laurel: You're talking to a *major garlic lover*. I'd bathe in it if I didn't have to worry about the social aspect. lol
Garlic is a natural anti-biotic. *I always get the date wrong* but back in 1964 there was an influenza epidemic in Russia. The U.S. shipped 500 metric tons of garlic to Russia and the flu was knocked out in 3 days. I did a huge presentation on this in college several years ago.
My kids were raised on raw chopped garlic (at least a whole medium clove per child) chased with gatorade when they were sick. As adults, it's the first thing they turn to when they feel it coming on.But *Listen to your Body*.
I hope you feel better soon.
Kathy: Too much fun:I'm downing a bag of fresh sugar snap peas and heading over to TTDC (the 30 day challenge) getting really fed up typing it out. lol

Actually, I just had a great day! I kinda get rowdy when I start or finish a great day! Did yall have a great day?
I finished my cleanse a few weeks ago and I miss it already. I am planning another cleanse in July. Next time I want to go further. Not sure how much but I know that someone said take it 10 days at a time. Pre cleanse I was a drag. Severe workoholic with depression? maybe? Anyways, Very unlike myself. I learned everything I know about the cleanse from these forums. Res, peanut and supercleanser and all the veterans who help the rookies like they do should be applauded! :::stand up girls::: clap clap clap clap!
Anywhoo....I am back to my old self. The cleanse done more for me than cleansed me...some.. But I learned to take things slowly..minute by minute rather than trying to be invincable..and miserable.. happy , I like being Happy...

GoodEvening,
I'm about to end my 10 day cleanse. I'm a bit worried about breaking the fast. I was wondering that after the cleanse I would definitely eat healthier. But I just don't see myself being RAW at all. I have been raised to eat meat, seafood, dairy, carbs. However, I plan on calming it down and not going straight into my old habits. I was thinking of the South Beach Diet, has anyone on here went to a different diet than RAW?
And since I was never RAW or anywhere close to it, is cooked veggies with no salt or condiments ok for the veggie soup? And can I have that in the afternoon of the first day off my cleanse?
So the plan would be fresh OJ in the morning, lots of water, around lunch have the veggie soup, and dinner veggie soup again, any thoughts?
Thanks in advance for any feedback!!!![]()

hey osalazar - the directions for breaking the cleanse are in the books of course and in the general help for newbies thread.
you don't have to go raw after breaking the cleanse, just be more healthy and be sure to eat less. You can reintroduce meat and dairy etc after day 4 of breaking the cleanse but remember to take it slow.
and you have 2 days of juice and then you have broth on the eve of day 2 breaking the fast and then soup the following down.
please read the ending the cleanse section in your book(s) and in the General Help for Newbies thread.

Hi Everyone~
Too many comments to reply to individually and I know I'll forget who said what so I'll do this best I can:
HappyHappy: Yes! Post-cleanse is awesome and a little scary because now you have to face real life and food. Good for you! Isn't it amazing how different we feel post-cleanse. 10 days at a time is good...if you feel great, keep going, if you think you're through, then you are! Good stuff.
Garlic: food of the gods! Yes, it works for everything and I say anyone who doesn't like the way I smell after I garlic myself to life can stay on the other side of the room! Res, you and I can just hang together and the rest, tough luck!
Ginger: awesome, and traveling can be tough. I was just in DC and brought bananas, apples, strawberried, almonds, dried apricots and bought some avocados. It was great but I didn't eat in restaurants. Good thing my champion husband is easy to please. He's not raw but he was happy with PBJs.
Okay, so I was thinking about this yesterday: I never worry anymore about my weight or what I'm eating...and I eat all day. I was a Weight Watcher lecturer for 5 years, I've been on every diet in the world, on and off, since the age of 15. I've never been severely overweight but anywhere between 5 and 25 pounds over has been my up and down weight life. Anyway, I always thought that WW was not a diet, since it's a way to eat, not focused on cutting food out of your life. Now I see it differently. On all those "plans" I was always wondering what to eat next, how much have I already had, what am I allowed and how much more am I allowed. I don't do that anymore. I eat whatever I want from my raw food choices, some simple like avocado in a sheet of nori and some less simple like raw pizza. An apple, a smoothie, a mango...who knows? I eat when I feel like eating. I have gained 2 pounds back after my 30 pound weight loss during my 40 day cleanse in December/January and I can't believe that I don't worry at all about my weight. I don't think I will go back to the SAD diet because I feel so great this way and I love what I eat. I also cook for 5 other people who will not go raw so it's not like I'm not around cooked food and all my previous favorite recipes. But this is the first time that I can really say that all the other plans ARE diets, no matter how much hype tells us they're not. If you're always worried about how much you're "allowed" to eat, you're on a diet. Wow. Long diatribe.
Happy sunshine days, everyone. Life is good and juicy, like the pineapple I just cut up!

Should I run and hide my face after that?

It's all Happy's fault with her use of the word "Rowdy".That's all it took and I started bouncing off walls.
Then Sim, your fun comment about garlic and well.....
Only day 10 of being all RAW but I have to agree on everything you said. I don't "worry" about what to eat any more and I do find that I'm eating quite often and all day. It's an apple here, celery and almond butter there, Lasagna (cornbleets book!), delicious fresh salads, mango's geez it goes on and on.
Thank you so much for what you said regarding eating raw and how you feel etc. Those words are very empowering. JOIN US in the RAW THREAD please! One Month Raw Challenge
So, yesterday *I* started thinking, why would I want to go back to all cooked foods and feel completely bogged down and stuff up again? Plus, I had no intention of doing this for weight loss but I'm certain I've dropped weight because of the way a certain pair of pants glided on this morning. I can even feel it on my sides (waist). The fat is just sort of melting. All in All this is pretty cool and I like the way I feel eating raw.
Happy, thank you for the kind words for the Mod's and Helpers.
osalazar: I never imagined myself going all raw either. After this 30 day challenge I know I'll eat cooked meat again because that's just the way I am. But I'm NOT going to eat the same way I did. It's suicide. And although I'm a bit wacky, I'm not a masochist.
Love to all!

Great post, Sim!
And I couldn't agree more. Even though I'm still not losing eating all raw (and I'd love for my clothes to glide on a la Res), I really also have no cravings for anything not raw and I love how I feel when I'm eating and in between. And I go for long periods without even thinking about food.
I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I'll continue eating raw "forever" after our 30-day challenge. I guess it doesn't really matter. I can make that choice one day at a time. Part of me thinks that eating something cooked [usually] doesn't mean you're adding poison; it's only that I'd be missing the stuff that's lost in the cooking.
But another part of me has already gone the "almost all the way" route, and I can tell it's a slippery slope! I still eat a lot of raw in that mode, but I start feeling "lazy" and somehow think that cooking a piece of meat is "easier" than, what?-- eating an apple?![]()
Anyway, I'm content for the moment!
Kathy

((MTMOUSE)) I am finding the cleanse is much much easier than the after the cleanse. I struggle day to day with my food choices. I know I can blame it on my social life because we eat to live and live to eat down here in the south. Just check out the pollsI have lived a rather healthy lifestyle when it comes to athletics etc. but food choices have always been horrible! I think I need another cleanse to really break the thought of what i need versus the what I want. I felt fine after my 10 day detox I shoulda woulda coulda just carried on. I heard it takes up to 30 days to refrain from bad habits to have it out your system..any thoughts on that?
((RES)) Leave it to me always leaving something for others to carry with themSorry to come off as this biggo blob of energy. It is the real me.I cant, just cant contain myself sometimes
and Oh NO THANK YOU!!
((SIM)) Thank YOU too!!!
((PEANUT)) Good luck with your job hunting etc. If ya ever down here on the Beautiful messed up Gulf coast of Mississippi. I have a job for ya! Can ya run A trackhoe? Drive a Dumptruck?
