    Default Sugar content

Hi this is my first time on the boards and Day 1 of the cleanse!

Just a bit concerned because I have had some bad candida problems in the past and i generally try to avoid sugar as far as possible. yet on the MC, i just seem to be glugging sweet liquid all day!
i'm concerned it may cause me some problems. e.g. thrush.

    Any advice?

jools: I just did a search on Google for "candida, maple syrup" and it's not lookin good. According to the few articles I looked at you're supposed to avoid Maple, but I do know that maple is a *different* sugar. I'll see if I can find the article that I read about it eons ago.

Someone else might have a much better answer for you... I hope.

Drink alot more water. With the cleanse you are not resatricted to just the lemonade. I have forgone the maple syrup because I have great reserves in my body. Maybe you can also go without the maple syrup and for the next post drink alot of water and help your body as it struggles to flush .

    hi 45utahman

remembered i wanted to respond to this post: YOU'RE RIGHT ab the water-- still ain't doin it enough-- but-- somehow I wanna tell you DON'T FOREGO the maple syrup! there's other goodies in it & even the sugar isn't gonna kill you! if you have plenty of reserves-- then you can lose easily ANYWAY! i don't have the energy to really get into it now-- but basically the more fat already on your bod-- the more you have to eat to keep it that way-- hence, a "starvation" diet like the cleanse-- is still plenty weight loss.... check out my post from a couple of days ago-- the one w the pic of a pouring bottle of maple syrup:

btw-- I'm NOT EVEN havin enough of the stuff-- probably why i write things like that! best of luck...

If you forgoe the syrup, that is a nutritional risk. From what I understand, the brain needs Glucose to survive and function properly. Glucose is derived from Carbohydrates (which break down to sugars) and sugar of course. Additionally, glucose is needed for your body's central metabolism for ATP (energy) and Oxygen, and water production, providing all the essential mechanisms for a healthy functioning body. I don't think "extra reserves" will be sufficient for these functions. Fat can certainly break down and go into the Krebs cycle for producing water and ATP (energy), but I'm just not sure it will be enough as your body will probably be burning some of that as fuel at such a low energy to no real energy intake if you are only drinking lemon juice, water and cayenne.

Wasn't there an alternative for Diabetics, like Molasses?

Yes, the brain does need glucose to survive (the nervous system entire actually) which is why exclusively protien diets are not great.

However, the lemon juice provides glucose. I would think that halving the maple syrup would be a better option than all or none.
