People do it different ways. I know a lot of people say using a straw is the only way they can get it down. Try using different temp. water. I hate it. I usually can not get the whole thing down but I come pretty close. It's important to get a lot of it down so that it goes right thru u. How much did you get down/
Personally I pour it into a glass and gulp a glass at a time, that way it doesn't seem like so much. Try different ways, you'll find one that works.
I think once it's over with it is so much better than drinking the tea in the morning and feeling crampy and yucky for so long.
