Default Cayenne pepper harmful for blood type A people?

I read a couple of days ago that the blood type theory (from the "Eat Right 4 Your Type" books) claims that cayenne pepper is harmful to people with blood type A. I have type A blood and have noticed that when I put extra cayenne pepper in my lemonade, I usually get an upset stomach and also a general feeling of nervousness/tenseness.

Does anyone have any information about whether this could be harmful to your body?

As a follow-up question, has anyone with type A blood had good or bad experiences with the cayenne pepper which they wouldn't mind sharing?

Also, has anyone used an alternative herb with success?

    My blood type is A-.

I was taking (a few months ago) Â*much larger quantities of cayenne pepper to alleviate nosebleeds, with no ill effects. This was over the course of several days.

i am type A too but haven't noticed problems with cayenne. i did notice that ginger is supposed to be good for type As, so maybe you could experiment with replacing some or all of the cayenne with powdered ginger? obviously this is totally my own speculation and has no grounding anything burroughs wrote about the lemonade diet... but i have experimented with it: i add some powdered ginger to my lemonade sometimes for a little flavor change.

    Thanks everyone for the advice!

I've decided to strike a happy medium by taking as much cayenne pepper as I can stand without making my stomach uncomfortable. For me this amounts to about 2-3 dashes of cayenne from the shaker in each glass of lemonade. (I figure the blood type theory must have it wrong about CP, otherwise surely there would be more complaints from type A people!)

By the way, I'm currently on day 15 of my first MC fast and it's going very well. My wife and I are doing the MC together, which makes the whole thing a lot easier for both of us.

Beware of sensationalists that try to draw attention to themselves and make a quick buck by publishing information previously unknown to others.

There is also a fairly well know raw foodist named Frédéric Patenaude Â*who also likes to make such claims.

I myself am blood type A + and consume large amounts of Cayenne ( I love spicy / raw food ! ) all the time without probs.

Besides being rich in vitamin A as well as containing amounts of vitamin C , B6 , manganese , cayenne also contains a compound called capsaicin , technically referred to as 8-methyul-N-vanillyl-6-nonenamide. It is the capsaicin that gives it its spicy flavor.

Capsaicin touts many health benefits including being a natural pain reliever, immunity booster, clears conjestion, and heals stomach ulcers.

Cayenne and other red chili peppers have been shown to reduce blood cholesterol, triglyceride levels, and platelet aggregation, while increasing the body's ability to dissolve fibrin, a substance integral to the formation of blood clots. Cultures where hot peppers like cayenne are used liberally have a much lower rate of heart attack, stroke and pulmonary embolism.

Unless you are one of them rare folk that have an allergy towards it, I wouldn't worry too much about consuming cayenne. It's good for ya!

Hi, I am also type A and i do not usually like hot, spicy food and I am tolerating it in the cleanse OK. A am using Organic cayenne pepper and I think it is milder. I would highly recommend it. Good Luck.

I am Type A and also insulin dependant diabetic on an insulin pump. I have been having problems with my sugar dropping in the night. Not sure what is causing this. However, my question right now other than any help with the sugar dropping is...when I went to the health food store for my supplies to start the fast, the owner talked me into getting some of the "Eat Right 4 Your Blood Type" books and supplements. I bought an A book for me and an "O" book for my husband. He also said that "O" blood types should never do the cleanse. Has anybody ever heard this. My husband had bypass heart surgery in 09/04 and has put on weight giving him a weight problem that he has never had. We also moved to Mississippi in '05 right before Hurricane Katrina hit and we haven't been eating right or exercising and he really needs to lose some weight. He has several BMs every day but I'm sure he could still use some cleaning out.

Thanks for any help you can give us.

I am type A - I love spicy food - and I have no problems with the cayenne pepper - I have even added a little more. My husband is type O. He was underweight to begin with, so he stopped after day 7 because his pants were falling off (wish I had that problem!). He felt great - has great mental clarity, feels 10 yrs younger and is telling everyone he knows how awesome the master cleanse is. Good luck!
