    hey welcome.
you can do the cleanse if you're hypoglycemic or even diabetic.
have you ready stanley burrough's book? he outlines some advice in there.
i found since doing the cleanse my blood sugar is a lot more stable. it doesn't drop as often or as severely as it used to pre-MC.
while doing the fast i always kept a glass/bottle of lemonade with me at all times so i'd never feel hungry/weak/shaky and i used 1.5 tbs in my first morning drink but after that i did about 1tbs for the rest of the day and that worked well for me.

Tygrbabi, to answer your question. I agree with peanutterb. I would say yes to doing the cleanse with hypoglycemia. It does say in the book if you are diabetic to use molasses instead of maple syrup. BEWARE the molasses is absolutely aweful!!! I know cuz thats what I'm drinking right now. I dont have maple syrup on hand and got the wild hair to start up Sat. night after reading some posts. So, here I am drinking this w/o m.s. and using molasses instead. So now I feel for the people who are on this cleanse and dont like the lemonade. I'm fortunate becuz I love the lemonade made with the syrup!!!Cant wait till Fri.

Thanks for the advice. I already read the book and spoke to my homeopathic doctor but I was still concerned about the "shakes". I'm worthless when I get them. I will start Monday with just a 10 cleanse.

    Default Power Meal for hypoglycemics

I read something that if you have diabetes or hypoglcemia, that you can add PowerMeal to the regimen. Has anyone heard of this? I am hypoglycemic so I'm feeling constantly weak and a little dizzy even though I'm drinking over 100 oz/day; I don't think I can do this much longer.
    Thank you, angelle

angelle, do you have burroughs book? have you read the section on diabetics? It does not mention Powermeals, but does give great instructions for this cleanse. Also do a search here on hypoglycemic and the MC, lots of good advise.

Default How to prevent a hypoglycaemic episode?

    Hi y'all,

On the start of Day 5(!) here and had a pretty scary 'episode' this morning. Woke up about 7am but felt terrible so thought I would stay in bed but couldn't get to sleep. Eventually got up, and had difficulty breathing, cold sweats, felt absolutely drained. Was scared that this was pre-empting something bad so looked up on here and google and evidence points to hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar for the non-scientists around here). So I forced myself to do the SWF as had to eliminate those toxins, forcefed myself a spoonful of syrup, and had a glass of peppermint tea with syrup. Was seriously considering quitting...

Then I went for a nap, and now I'm here, (of course) feeling ok, not brilliant but ok.

Anyway, I want to prevent this in the future (as a girl scout I learnt that low blood sugar can happen to people, irrelevant to having diabetes, and it can be dangerous) otherwise I'll want to quit. Other than increasing my MS intake (so far, ~6tbspns a day, and as it's Madal Bal, that's 264 cals which isn't enough so will look to buy more on Monday) a few questions:

    1) I exercised aerobically for ~15 mins yesterday, should I stop doing this daily and stick to the yoga instead?
    2) I drink a lemonade pretty much before I go to bed (maybe this is why I haven't been sleeping that well ) yet still wake up feeling horrible (obv the sugar goes down during all those hours sleeping)... Should I increase my MS in that last cup so that it'll last 'longer'?

Or wake up in the middle of the night (say 2 or 3 am) to drink a cup (sounds a bit extreme but I don't have work in the morning so it would be ok)?

    3) A bit unrelated to this, according to Peter's post I'm "taking it easy" by drinking no more than 6 glasses a day. I'm also intaking another 60 oz of water a day so no worries about "flushing those toxins". As I've been increasing the cayenne anyway (can stomach loads of that stuff), could I also potentially increase the amount of lemon juice (as the maximum amount is 12 tbspns a day)?

Anyway, this message is rather mammoth so I'll leave it there, good luck to everyone on the cleanse

    Morning Firsttimecleanser!

I used to have really bad issues with my blood sugar prior to the cleanse but have only had it once since I my first cleanse and have only had it once on a cleanse because I ran out of ms and was at the store and my bf was talking to a guy and my battery was low and my E light came on.

The best thing to do for you, is 1. increase your maple syrup and 2. sip your lemonades consistently throughout the day. this will keep your blood sugar at an even level so their won't be any spikes up or down.

I can't have a lemonade before bed because the ms keeps me up. but if that's what you need to do to keep your sugar stable i'd suggest having a little glass with water and a little ms in it by your bedside to have a sip or two in the night and see how that helps.

Try only doing yoga for a day or two and see if that makes a difference.
Chances are, 6 tablespoons of ms is just not enough for you right now.

Sometimes I wake up feeling shaky in the morning but the swf takes that right away.

Sounds like you're doing everything else right. and if you'd like to increase your lemonade, start off slowing, adding an extra glass a day and see how it makes you feel. more lemon juice means more detoxing so make sure you're ready for it. also increase your water intake to help with additional flushing.

please keep us updated on how you're doing

merged these threads together for anyone with questions on the issue of hypoglycemia.

    Summary
is to sip your drinks thruout the day to keep your sugar leveled
or have a drink every hour
Another option is to use raw agave nectar or molasses as burroughs suggests in his book for diabetics.

thanks peanutterb! (and thanks for finding this thread so I could have a little read)

I couldn't fall asleep last night, I started getting mild symptoms around 3am so just got up from bed, made myself a peppermint tea with a tablespoon of MS, and almost instantly I felt better, no longer shakey etc. Watched a movie and fell asleep easily, and slept right through til 11.30 am, and feeling good

So I guess I'm going to keep up drinking a mug of tea with MS every evening/whenever I feel ill, and I would recommend anyone else who has the same problems to do the same!

Day 6 and onwards! Thanks again,

    ~FT

I am hypoglycemic, and just started my second cleanse.

My first cleanse I did absolutely by the book, and I would get the shakes if I went more than two hours without lemonade.

This time, I have decreased the maple syrup to 1 tbsp, and I don't start drinking it until after noon. This is because I have been following the Carbohydrate Addict's Diet (www.carbohydrateaddicts.com) for over ten years, which taught me that if I limit carb intake to once per day, all hypoglycemic symptoms disappear. I am not a breakfast person anyhow, so basically I fast every morning, just drinking coffee and water. Now that I am on the MC I am cutting out the coffee. I am not going so far as to limit lemonade consumption to once a day, at least not yet.

All that said, I like pb's suggestion for keeping a little bit of maple syrup by the bed if you are in fact having hypoglycemic symptoms at night.

I don't see any advantage to using molasses over maple syrup. If you compare the labels you will see that the number of carbs and sugars per tablespoon is identical, and I've never read of any sort of difference in the glycemic index between the two.

The most important thing is to keep the maple syrup handy in case you feel any hypoglycemic symptoms coming on. It's better to take a teaspoon of maple syrup than to get the shakes. Been there, done that.

Keep us posted on how you're doing!

    Laura
