BeautifulFreak, seeing that it's so close to your surgery i would actually recommend you wait a little bit. Maybe another month or so. You really don't know how your body will react to the implants at this point so it might be best to wait a while until your body is more used to them.

In the mean time, you can take steps to start losing weight and detoxing like working out, going vegetarian or vegan, going raw, and incorporating green smoothies into your diet. you can find info on this stuff in the general help for newbies thread and even more info by using google as well.

As pb says, you might try a more gentle and gradual detox. I read a book recently called something like The Raw Foods Detox Diet and it made a LOT of sense to me.

Main thing is: listen to your body. If it is telling you to detox, then do it.

I had a breast lumpectomy for some suspicious tissue (not cancer) on Wednesday. It's Sunday. I'd like to start the cleanse. My breast is swollen -- typical recovery process -- and there is some blood accumulation at the bottom of my breast. I'm able to lay on my stomach for a little while now. It's sore to the touch. I was doing pain meds, but have pretty much cut them out. No muscle was cut. My arm movements are fine.

I'm 50. I've been pretty much a vegetarian for a couple of years. Still have weight 10 pounds to lose. Am at home now and this is a good time to do this.

Should I wait? Or would this help the recovery?

I am currently on day 21 and have surgery scheduled on day 30. I was hoping to go 30+ days this time. The surgery is to put in a PV sling. It's not a real major surgery, but they'll be making several incisions to get the job done... is it OK to stay on the MC during and for a few days after?

If it makes a difference.... this is my 3rd MC and I am actually underweight right now. I started at 150 in Feb this year with a target goal of 135. I got down there fairly easily and have just kept dropping. (I continued to eat very well after each MC) But now I'm down to 117 and am almost concerned. I'm 5' 6" and fairly muscular. Will this have an impact on healing after my surgery?

Thanks so much for any input. My inclination is to stay on it, obviously not to lose more weight, but to detox at a deeper level, but I'd like to hear from people who have much more experience.

    Kimberly,

I would say, "No" to the cleanse during/after surgery as stated here. Your body *needs* nutrition to heal. Consider an all Organic diet.

    To quote our Fearless Leader:

The body requires much more protein when it is healing from surgery or otherwise rebuilding flesh. Therefore, until a person is recovered, she or he should not do the Master cleanse.

Thanks for the advise Res. If I can ask for more specific input... you think it's OK to stay on MC until the day of surgery, then go right into a all raw diet for a week or so? Since I already made it to day 21, I hate to quit any sooner than I have to.

kimberlyn: As someone who worked 20 years in health care before switching careers, I would like to put in my 2 cents. I recommend that you stop the cleanse within the next day or two to give your body time to adjust to eating before your surgery. You can always do another MC!

Part of the whole MC process is making sure you take care of yourself, and sometimes that means stopping the cleanse before you have scheduled yourself to. Best of luck with both your MC and your surgery!

Yup, I agree with Ann. Your body would still be in detox mode which you don't want when you have surgery.

All the best to you Kimberly.
