Default worsening eczema - a detox symptom or not?

hi everyone. i'm on day 9 of my first MC. one of the main reasons i chose to do this cleanse was in the hopes that it would help to clear up a chronic eczema problem i've had (no traditional medical methods have significantly helped).

for those who don't know, eczema is basically extremely dry skin that can get raw and weepy and it can be triggered by allergens (similar to hay fever), stress, or a bunch of other things that medical doctors are yet to understand. i had a hunch that i might actually be overloaded with toxins and that my liver couldn't handle it and was spitting those toxins out through my skin in the form of eczema. hence, why i hoped the master cleanse would be a big help...

however, starting on day 7 and continuing until now, my eczema has suddenly gotten *much* worse. do you think this could be a detox symptom and that it will start to clear up as i'm coming off the cleanse?? or is it possible that it's something completely unrelated and the MC has had no effect on my eczema whatsoever?

any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated...

yup I've got it too... its more of a chronic folliculitis rather than exczema... pretty similar though

    0.5% hydrocortizone cream did nothing....
tetracyclene pills made it less severe.

I was hoping the MC would clear it up...

I gotta be really honest here.. it really hasn't helped :-/ ahh well I did the Master Cleanse to clean out the digestive tract and exercise the mind over the body's urges.

Have you tried sitting in the sauna to help the body dump out more toxins?

My husband did the MC for just four days in the beginning of January. Shortly after that, he started getting this rash on his arms. This spread to his whole body and then started to go away. We both did the MC again mid february and it flared up really badly for him then. He lasted 9 days but came off early because of the rash. His doctor said it was some kind of contact dermatitis and gave him some antibiotics & cream. It seemed like it was going away but now it's starting to come back.

Does this sound at all like what either of you have? For him it's an itchy red rash that is only on the outer parts of his body (outer legs, outer arms) but his skin is very dry, almost scaly. Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks

mycroftxxx - i fear that i might be in the same boat as you. topical steroid creams and oral steroids (prednisone) only helped to lessen the eczema. nothing has cleared it up entirely, and i had really hoped the MC was a way to change that withoutsubjecting my body to any more harsh steroids. i'm still really glad i'm doing the cleanse though and will definitely do it again in the future... i'm just a little bummed that my skin isn't clearing up. oh and i've never tried a saunna - not quite sure where i would have access to one...

jessica - well my eczema can look like anything from itchy red bumps, to cracked and scaly, to weepy and pussy, to tiny clear bumps. it's mainly on the bottom of my feet - but in the last couple days got much worse on my shins and one wrist as well. the main difference between me and your husband is that i've had eczema in one form or another for just about all of my life. it definitely wasn't something caused by the cleanse, i was just wondering if this recent flare up was due to the detox or not.

does anyone else have any experience with this?? does anyone know of any other natural ways to combat eczema if cleansing won't do the trick?

    thanks!!

    dbh,

I also have eczema (born with it) and just before the cleanse it really flared up - on my hands, neck and right eyelid ??? I had been taking apple cider vinegar and that seemed to worsen it. I read somewhere that if you have candida and you take something fermented (like vinegar) that it will worsen it. Don't know if I have candida, but...

I'm on Day 7 of the MC and my eczema has actually improved, but it's likely from not taking the vinegar. I have read that the cleanse can help eczema but perhaps that's not true for everyone, or perhaps you have to do several MCs or stay on the MC for a long time.

Still, it's nice to have a few days of not feeling itchy.
    Good luck to you! ;D

Question Re: worsening eczema - a detox symptom or not?

    I'm afirst time cleanser!
No previous skin issues. All of a sudden on day 3, the inside of my right arm broke out in little tiny bumps ... no itching though, and ONLY my right arm. Then today - day five, my neck and forehead broke out in a much worse fashion ... really bumpy ... not really itchy. I read that I should just continue, which I am, but the bumps spread to the rest of my face as well. I tried a hydrocortizone cream ... nothing. I just took TWO benedryl! I NEVER take any medication, prescription or otherwise ... but I'm sure hoping it will help. Elimination this morning didn't seem to do the trick ... I already have such a difficult time with the salt water flush ... (almost puking most days, and NEVER managing a FULL quart - maybe half is all I can handle)... The flush still seems to do its job though. I am hoping that someone can tell me that these bumps will go away ... and that others have experienced this SAME symptom ... any help out there? The rash is really distressing, and I sure hope that someone can reassure me Tahnks.

If you've never had rash/excema before, it's very likely a detox symptom. Probably excema in general is a sign of toxins. If one Master Cleanse, even longer than 10 days, doesn't help, I'd suggest eating a diet very high in greens, especially green smoothies. One of the testimonials in Victoria Boutenko's Green For Life talked about how his excema was considerably reduced after a week of green smoothies.
    MC1 (2008?) - 19 days. MC2 (August/September 2009) - 16 days. MC3 (04/25/10) - 30 days. MC4 (08/08/10) - 25 days. MC5 (01/23/11) - Day 2.

THanks again. I've never had excema ... never really any skin problems at all. I walked today on the beach, and noticed that sweating DID in fact seem to help it ... so, I agree with your toxin theory.
