Hi jamesg~heartburn hurts! Ooh, sorry that happened. Even though you're a vegetarian, you needed to give yourself more than one day to break your cleanse. OJ, watered down a bit to keep the acidity lower, for two days at least would have been a better option, with more watered OJ and a small salad at night on the third day. Have you been taking a probiotic? That also minimizes any other stomach upsets. Good luck, hope this helps.

I think one of the things that Stanley Burroughs recommends is if you are experiencing very bad indigestion right after coming off of a cleanse you should go back to the lemonade for a couple of days and then do the OJ for a couple more days before slowly going back to solid foods. You may have put too much OJ into your system as well. Definitely try to start probiotics the first morning of the OJ.

    Hello Lemonheads!

Monday was the last day of my MC and I've been drinking tangerine juice for 2 days, so today is the first day eating in 2 weeks. And wouldn't you know it I've bit my lip twice already! Guess I forgot how to chew So my advice to all of you ending the cleanse is chew slowly and pay attention so you don't end up with a fat lip!

    Cheers!

[QUOTE=SFLemonGirl;50588]Yesterday was my first day of breaking the cleanse. I sipped on my juice all day and was fine with hunger until late afternoon. I found that the oj just doesn't satisfy like the wonderful lemonade that I already miss so much. Anyway, was making one of my large batches of home-made veggie broth to freeze and decided to pour off a small portion and throw a handful of fresh veggies in for a soup. It tasted wonderful and I had no problems with digestion, HOWEVER I found that I am feeling guilty and apprehensive about putting food back into my body. I feel like I've done so much to clean out my system that putting food back in is undoing everything. I know this is completely psychological and I will get through it, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this when breaking their cleanse? Any words of encouragement? I DO eat a healthy diet and plan to stay that way, but it's a total mental block for me right now.

I felt exactly the same way last time,(after 15 days of MC) i think at least for my part is that i take my health so seriously and knowing how hard it is to cleanse you just dont wanna go back to the previous sluggish state.. so it almost ruins it in my mind each time i went for food it made me despise it, being the number one reason for cleansing in the first place.. dont u think ? i know i will never be anorexic so I am not scared of feeling that way, its just a very conscious feeling of well being.. and i could swear its the lemon mix that make us react that way... it is that powerful of a cleansing ...not like a diet where u cant wait to indulge in your favorite foods...it cleans and clears you out , back to baby stage ...
but as time went on , i slowly went back to all processed ..and had to do another cleanse ( i am on my 4th day today ) so that tells you that u do go back to living and eating like everyone else. cause if i could stick to raw.... no need to cleanse...

hope that helps and feel great !

This is a repost of a recipe that I posted a few months ago. I was inspired by Stanley Burrough's instructions to just add a lot of fresh veggies and minimal seasoning and try not to overcook them. He also mentioned to add some legumes, so that gave me an idea to add some Navy Beans.

The night before, I soaked about 1 1/2 cups of dried navy beans for my soup the next day. When I got home from work at about 3 pm I immediately went into the kitchen and started cooking my beans, I rinsed them and put them in a large stock pot full of filtered water and cooked them at a low boil covered for about 1.5 hours so they were nice and soft. Then I started adding my cut up veggies (all fresh, about a cup each) - the hard ones first: Carrot (I like the rainbow ones for color), celery, chopped garlic, onion, and leeks...then some spices: Thyme and cayenne pepper both to taste, as well as one organic veggie bouillon cube to help the broth along and 1 tbsp tomato paste for color (since fasting, I felt that I really didn't need additional salt)...next I added Napa Cabbage, snapped french beans, and purple potatoes ...simmer that for another 15 min and then throw in some zucchini for about 5 min more and you are ready to go! I served this for the first night of solid food using mostly broth and some of the veggies as well as two rye wafers. The next day I had it again for lunch with mostly veggies as I was really craving them!!

I tend to get overexcited when I cook, so sometimes my cup measure turns into two, for a general rule, I just watch how full the pot is getting and adjust as needed. The cayenne pepper adds a much welcomed spice after a day and a half without the lemonade. I have been making this soup about every 10 days ever since my first MC back in June! I found that it was most welcomed after 12 days of lemonade, then 1 1/2 days of thick OJ

This is day 10 and I breaking the fast tomorrow with some diluted OJ and the probiotics. The next day I want to try some vegetable soup in the evening, but I'm not sure what I want in it. Beans have always given me gas, especially the kind you soak, so I don't want to try that. I'm thinking of using my Vitamix to make some type of "raw" tomoto soup with a vege bouillion, maybe some celery but not much more. I love garlic, but when I eat roasted garlic, I've noticed it gives me gas. So, maybe I need to chill out on garlic and even onions. Maybe a carrot would be alright. This is really exciting for me! I can't wait to try this soup.

Hi Cleanse-breakers! You lucky ducks...I'm on Day 21, going to 40 and thoughts of food are still a bit far away for me...but to you all, hats off...You rock!!!!!!

MayaBlue's soup sounds fantastic, except for one (or two things) that will not agree with everyone and that I truly don't recommend right off the cleanse: beans and potatoes might be a bit too much to digest after not eating for ten or more days. Even soaked, beans are extremely tough on the intestinal track, fabulous as they are in protein...and you can't beat the texture! Potatoes, full of starch, may also not be the best food to have right from the start. Aside from those things, MayaBlue's soup is as wonderful as it can be, full of vitamins, color, texture...it's almost hard to ruin a veggie soup. Basic recipe: Cut up as much of a variety of veggies as you'd like (I used to make mine with zucchini, fresh tomato, carrot, onion, celery, garlic, leeks, parsnip, turnip, mushrooms, asparagus, and spinach---any veggies are good, just watch out for beans, corn, and potatoes); I filled a pot with them, added any spices I liked (oregano, basil, thyme, hot pepper flakes and/or cayenne, black pepper, and yes, a little tiny bit of sea salt) and if you'd like, those organic veggie bouillon cubes, although when making a fresh soup, I always felt those were unnecessary for me. Fill the pot with water, cover and bring to a boil, and simmer for anywhere from ½ hour to an hour, depending on how you like your veggies. On the first day of breaking the cleanse, have only OJ; on the second day, OJ all day but some of that veggie broth (NO VEGGIES) at night; on the third day, OJ in the morning, veggie broth, still no veggies, in the afternoon, and then veggie soup WITH the veggies at night. You're then good to go. Don't forget to take a probiotic from Day 1 of breaking the cleanse. Good luck, you guys. Rudy, vegetable soup will never taste so good!!!!
