I am on day 7 of my first MC, I will finish on day 10, which means wednesday I start transitioning to food (can't wait!) Here's my problem...
I have ulcerative colitis and leaky gut syndrome-both of which are under control thanks to my alternative doctor. Yes, I talked to her about this fast, although she suggests it for many patients, she couldn't say yes or no to me, BUT, thought I was far enough along and could try it and just listen to m body. I'm glad I decided to do this!
However, I eat (ate) primarily meat as that didn't "go through me". I was to the point where I was eating veggies every day, but only cooked and only with dinner, and I was tolerating them fine, however I can tell if I eat too many veggies, to back off. As far as salads, I can eat them but certainly not 2 days in a row, I would get an upset tummy! SOOOO....I'm concerned that eating to many veggies after breaking the fast will greatly bother and bloat me, (it's the fiber that bothers me, too much and I get very bloated and diahhrea).
So, I feel I should add some fish or other meat to help tolerate the fiber. But how do you suggest I go about this?? I so desperately miss veggies!!Weird thing is, before getting UC 1&1/2 yrs ago, I practically lived on veggies (and lean protein). For 6 months while healing my gut, I literally lived on meat! My other food intolerances are/were dairy, all nuts, shellfish, eggs. I can now eat all of these in moderation. So I don't know if I'll ever get to the point where I can tolerate raw veggies, and nuts, however, with the progress I've been making I know I'll get there! My hope is this cleanse will dramatically help!
Please, any suggestions on when and how to add protein (I'm thinking fish would be my best best) would be greatly appreciated!

I'm day 2 post-cleanse and having a bit of trouble I never would have expected: I don't want to consume ANYTHING but water. I want to...but some other me doesn't want to. And that sounds so ridiculous...
Orange juice (which I normally love and make up several times a week) won't go down. I hold it in my mouth, and I try, but I can't swallow it. Even cut up to 50% with water. Same with grapefruit. I chewed a few grapes and enjoyed them, but trying to swallow them actually triggered tears. I've tried a number of things, including broth, apple juice, apple sauce and the lemonade I had become so sick of. Only water goes down without this weird struggle that seems part emotional and part...what? I don't know how to describe this experience.
So essentially, I've extended my 10-day MC with two days of water fasting. This has to be contributing to the emotional junk. I can suddenly relate to a past acquaintance who had a crippling case of depression. But, I don't feel depressed. I don't feel much of anything, actually. blah
Where's that clarity and invigoration and renewal?
This has to change. Anybody have advice?
wow Hamster, I've heard of post cleanse withdrawal and a fear to eat but that's taking it to a whole new level.
Honestly I don't know what to tell you. I definitely think it's mental and it's a block you need to overcome.
Do some reflecting and free writing and find out what it is you're afraid of and go from there. Also, start thinking about what you'd really love to eat and see if that triggers any responses.
I've had that happen to me before - my throat not allow me to swallow - but it was from taking meds as a child. It does it sometimes now but I just have to ignore it for a while then try again later.
I hope you can eat something soon. Are you hungry at all?

Yep. Hungry. But have no compulsion to eat anything. The whole fast has been this way...aromas have been overwhelming at times, but I've had no impulse to eat or drink any of it.
I have been doing some qigong tonight and find that I can get diluted orange juice down. Tomorrow, I will try for the real deal.
Does anyone know if it's okay to replace 2 meals a day with the lemonade after the cleanse as a regular diet? I'm on day 16 of my first cleanse so if anyone could respond to my question within a few days I would very much appreciate it![]()

I am on the 10th Day of my first Master Cleanse and have been following the program exactly and feeling really good. I am planning on breaking the fast tomorrow but want to know if should I drink the laxative tea tonight and drink the salt water tomorrow morning before starting on the orange juice. Thanks!!!
congrats MNFIsh - no lax tea or swf. Be sure to read up on the breaking the fast section of the general help for newbies thread for more info.
Hamster - how are you doing?

Pnutterb....thanks for asking. I've been away from the board to prevent the spread of icky energy (mine) about the cleanse. I'm technically on day 6 post-cleanse. But since I couldn't do anything but water on days 11 and 12, I guess I'm only on day 4, post-cleanse. There is progress, but this transition has not been fun. Maybe my throat was trying to tell me something? First I couldn't get food past my tonsils, and now when I do, I pay for it with stomach aches and intestinal cramps like I haven't had since that case of giardia back in '90. I was able to drink progressively stronger orange juice after my last post and now I can eat grapes and broths without repercussions (gut cramps!). This evening I ate a little of the veggies in my broth and feel only moderate discomfort so far. I've been taking high-end probiotics and added a digestive enzyme supplement to tonight's "meal" and am hopeful.
Unfairly, my pal launched painlessly into peanut-butter toast and mashed potatoes on her first evening off the cleanse. She's the one with a long history of tender-stomach and intestinal trouble. I've always had the stomach of a goat. Even MORE UNFAIRLY, I have gained 5 pounds in the last 5 days!!! 2 of those days I could only drink water and on none of those days have I consumed the number of calories I did on the cleanse. But I always said I can gain weight just looking at food...and here's the proof! HA! No biggee, really...diet never did diddly for my weight...it's all about exercise for this body and I have simply not felt up to much beyond gardening.
I contemplated resuming the lemonade for a few days but my husband is very resistant to that idea and prefers I go to a juice fast. (He has lots of experience with juice fasting and is feeling a little helpless in the face of this weird withdrawal/re-launch problem I'm having. He blames it on the salt water flush which he feels is "an aberrant practice".) I've decided not to make a decision either way until Wednesday evening. If I can't eat salad by then (and boy did salad hurt last night!), I will consider my options.
