it took one week after breaking the fast for me to have a bm (just had it yesterday). the first morning i had OJ/grapefruit juice, and more OJ 2x during the day from this great little juice shop in the office concourse. that kept me filled. the second day, Saturday, i juiced some carrots and broccoli stems, and had a fruit smoothie for breakfast and dinner.

Sunday was another breakfast smoothie (all made with only fruits), and lunch was a salad of herb greens (organic, bought pre-packaged), kalamata olives, avocado and tomato, with an olive oil/lemon juice dressing, salt and pepper. it was sooooo good!

was filled from that and didn't have any dinner, but i did have a beer.

Monday, and throughout the week: fruit smoothies for breakfast, soaked almonds, raisins and walnuts or an apple for a snack, and a vita mix veg soup for dinner. i love my vita mixer!

did have wine on occasion, but i can't drink like i used to. i just don't want it, and it takes forever to finish a glass, unheard of for me

i didn't like the "consistency" of my first bm, too solid, and actually it was nice for that first week not to have any, funny as that sounds. i had to go 3x yesterday.

i'm expecting, via UPS today, a new juicer and dehydrator. will be fun using those items for the first time! i have a centrifugal juicer, but this new one is the Green Star, and the dehydrator is Excalibur, both suggested to me by raw friends and internet research.

we'll see how well i can do on our trip to London, just one week away now!

anyway, hope this helps those coming off the fast, and wondering if what they're experiencing is "normal"

    Hi Brywool,
Hope you're still logging in. I'm no expert but I've been around and have learned from a lot of experts. My suggestion is this. If you really want to eat the steak and pizza periodically and can't imagine a raw food life, try to choose raw first, then when you do eat the steak or pizza, eat half of your normal portion and a huge salad to help scrub it out of your intestinal track. You might also take a look at food combining charts. At your local organic/health food store, you can buy a wallet-sized card that gives you the details on this for cheap! This way you don't have the "bad" stuff stuck in your system.

good points, kameelean. In addition, Peter has said that when he eats something he "shouldn't", then he SWFs the next day.

Hi socalgrl: Take the probiotics after you finish the MC. I would follow the instructions on the package. The kind I take is once daily, and I was taking it in the evening before bed.

Detox bath = 2 cups Epsom salts + 1 cup baking soda in a tub of water.

Hey, you are more than 1/2way there; I'm jealous!

Thumbs up Re: Breaking the fast -- very important

    Woo hoo!!

I am on day 10 of my MC and I am sooooo ready to start eating again. But I have a question, do I really need to do the detox baths? And how soon should I start taking the probiotics? I will start with the juice and soup broth tomorrow.

Anything else I should be aware of...???

    Thanks,

    Desiree

AVeryGoodThing: You do not have to take a detox bath. Some of the MC'ers like to do them during their cleanse, because they feel it aids the detox process. It is not mandatory, just something nice to do for yourself when you are feeling crappy (pun intended)!

This is day 3 off the cleanse (20 days) and I ate rice today. Well I worked a festival and I ate all of my fruit and was hungry so I had some rice. Yesterday I had a really bad headache....worse than any I had on the cleanse. I went to sleep and when I woke up, it was gone. I think I was dehydrated. I had a really full day and didn't bring enough water with me and didn't stop to get any. Rice was the only thing that took me away from raw but today I'm attempting to make my own raw bars so I won't run out of food tomorrow while I'm out working. Oh yeah, I've read of others gaining weight after the cleanse. I lost two more pounds.

cee3peeoh: Since it is day 3 post-cleanse, I think it is OK that you had some rice. It's not the end of the world. I agree that you were probably dehydrated, which caused the headache. My sister had the same thing happen yesterday, and she ended up w/ a full-blown migraine! Fortunately, she was able to sleep most of it off and guzzled lots of H2O. Hope you are feelng better, and glad to hear about your continued weight loss post-cleanse!

socalgrl: The first day after the cleanse, it is recommended that you dilute the orange juice because your body just isn't used to it. Also, you can use grapefruit juice instead of OJ. I will probably go the grapefruit (pink) route because OJ is too sweet for me. It makes me almost sick to my stomach! You can also mix the 2 if you like. Hope this helps.
