Thread: Breaking the fast

First post-cleanse day. I've had four glasses of fresh squeezed grapefruit today. The first glass was definitely what I'd call heavenly.

I am out of oranges too on day 3 post cleanse. I don't think I am ever going to buy orange juice again, fresh squeezed is so delicious!

    Hello,
I am on day six and feel awesome. I do have a question regarding after the cleanse. I am scheduled to attend a bachelorette party 4 days after my day 10. Will I be able to have a couple alcoholic drinks?

I think the official word is that on the 4th day after the cleanse you can eat/drink whatever you want. You'll probably want to be a little careful, though, don't just start pounding a bunch of shots, LOL!

My plan tonight (which is the 4th day post-cleanse) is to go to a great local bar to get a turkey burger and a beer

Generally I doubt I'll be eating much meat but I really do want a burger and I think turkey is the way to go. Maybe with some avocado on it. Mmmmm!

Other 'breaking the fast' news - yesterday for dinner I made a salad out of my garden (my first 'harvest'), with lettuce and baby spinach and radishes. So good! And some of the soup I still have leftover.

Then I went grocery shopping and I got raw cashews and pumpkin seeds, dried cranberries, fresh fruit and veggies, and a bunch of other healthy/raw stuff (along with some chicken sausage, bean taco fixings and a couple other non-raw but relatively healthy things). I couldn't believe that I didn't gravitate toward the junk food - I walked down that aisle and nothing looked good. I also got some really good yogurt (I literally know the cows who make the milk for it) to get some good bugs back in my system, I am a big fan of yogurt/fruit for breakfast. It was my first dairy since I started the cleanse and it feels good so far.

I am no purist but I think a lot of this raw food is gonna stick! YAY!

Day 2 of Post-Cleanse and I have maintained my weight loss (of 10 pounds).

I just had some soup. I am learning to really CHEW my food and savour the flavour. I couldn't finish the soup and it was only 3/4 cup!!!

I'm not going to force myself to finish it. It can wait for when my 'real' hunger signals the body needs more.

Super excited about trying new recipes this weekend!!!

Day 2 off the cleanse as well, and I still have my 10 pound loss as well.

Been unwilling to try dairy and meat...don't know why. I love them both, but I'm sort of wary of how they will make me feel. I really don't want to feel sick.

My broth is great, and the only thing that seems to satisfy me is fresh fruit. My homemade bread with butter is also really good, but not "satisfying". I may accidentally be heading towards this raw thing without intending on it!

Day 4 post cleanse for me. I have still yet to eat any bread or meat, I am going to try to stick to that for at least 2 weeks and then slowly introduce some fish and whiole grains. I just bought "Eat Right For Your Type", so I am excited to start reading that.

I just ate a pomegranet salad from Trader Joe's for lunch, it was delcious!

Today is my first day off of the cleanse and I'm doing well with sticking to just orange juice but I admit, I'm feeling really really hungry!!!! I bought some tomatoes and peppers for a soup recipe I found on this site, it's one of the raw recipes, I've never had soup that wasn't cooked so this should be interesting! All I can think about is that soup and how I want to eat it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think I can go all raw but I'm going to do my best to incorporate more fruits and veggies as my meals and maybe just have a regular dinner. Alright, I need to stop thinking about food, my tummy is physically rumbling/growling-HELP

Yes, it always comes as such a surprise when you start the OJ and suddenly you're so hungry! That's why it's important to have lots of oranges on hand when planning to come off the fast.

    Enjoy your raw soup!

It is amazing how easy and...er..natural it is to eat well coming off this fast. Today is my 4th day off the cleanse so in theory I could eat anything, and I still chose to have fruit for breakfast, my leftover veg soup with a little rice and asparagus for lunch today, some raw pumpkin seeds for a snack.

Then tonight was my first big splurge, my 'beer and a burger' night, and I barely ate half my turkey burger, replaced the fries that came with the burger with coleslaw which I hardly touched...and I was STUFFED (and a little buzzed, LOL!). I did manage to drink a beer and a half. I still felt great though, and came home and took the dog on a fast walk and then worked out for 40 minutes.

It's so wonderful how my energy level stays high throughout the day when I eat smaller, lighter meals.

I have learned a few things from this cleanse, for sure, aside from the physical benefits.

    1 - I have willpower!

2 - I already know how to eat well - partly from healthier periods of my life, and partly because my body tells me what to do if I just stop chewing and listen for a second.

3 - Stuffing my face with comfort food has never made me feel good and it never will.

Some really basic stuff, but it sure feels great to (re)learn it!!
