    hi
i did a 24 day fast and live alone. I lost control. I ate everything in sight. Lobster and steak were the only things I did not eat. got some diarrhea, and once it stopped, started eating again. I am fine, feel great. And still eating. But NO MEAT, NO SUGAR, NO CAFFEINE, NO Chocolate, cake, pastry, white flour, candy, brownies, pork, pasta. So you can survive coming off the fast by being a jerk, but it still does wonders for jerks like me. my diet is 1000 times better than before the fast. I was addicted to all the above before the fast. Now i eat only fresh veggies, fruit, fish, nuts, beans, whole grains, and other good stuff. NO ALCOHOL OR CAFFEINE OR SUGAR of any kind.

So today is my last day. Breaking tomorrow. I'm dreading the orange juice day, just because I know it's going to be a major fight to keep myself from throwing it all out and cooking up some soup right then and there. I WANT SOUP.

Oh and the raw soup on the first few pages in the Raw Recipes section. Oh my GOSH that sounds absolutely intoxicating.

All in all, I'm kind of scared silly about breaking. Unlike last time, I am more than ready to stop, but it's still unnerving. I didn't break very well on MC1. I drank OJ for the first day, then jumped ahead and had veggie broth with a couple bites of mushy veggies that night (no stomach upset.) The next day I had soup...then start nibbling. That night (post cleanse day2) I went to a wedding and went whole hog at the reception. Amazingly enough I had no stomach problems.

However, I was dissapointed in myself. Here I had just finished a 16 day cleanse that required vast amounts of discipline and self restraint and I couldn't control myself for 2-3 more days. I was upset, and vowed to break my next cleanse by the book. But that soup just sounds so friggin good. And after 21 days this time around, I'm even MORE ready to eat it. Saturday night (post cleanse day1) I'm going to a fellowship dinner. I'm taking a bunch of OJ and HOPE that I can reign myself in. I know that hunger begins full-force after you stop with the lemonade.

I'd keep drinking the lemonade to supliment, but used the very last of my MS and actave nectar to make today's 6 servings (and barely got 1 TB per serving.) I'm not buying a $20 bottle of MS just to get me through 1.5 days. I CAN do it....I CAN. (repeating it to myself as a mantra)

Does everyone take probiotics after the cleanse?
I have done the MC twice prior to my current cleanse - the first time, I did not take probiotics afterwards and the second time I did. I do not remember having any difficulty when I did not take them. But, I think that it is a good idea, and I plan on taking them when I complete this cleanse.

Hopefully that makes some sense. I think the bottem line is - there is not absolute right answer (unfortunately). Different things work for different bodies! Good luck, and congrats!

Day 1 post cleanse. I'm pretty hungry, but not horribly so. I guess I got very unjuicy oranges (they looked big and juicy?) because I had a devil of a time getting enough juice. I've had two small glasses today (diluted w/ water.)

I could certainly go for some lemonade right now.

And I've been hit with an immense desire to cook. Something. Anything. I just want to bake.

Well, today is Day 5, and I feel like ****. I know it's one of the bad detox days, but oh man...

I decided to go off the cleanse on Monday, which will be 7 days. But including the 3 subsequent days that I'll be weening myself back with juice, it makes a total of 10 days. If that counts. But, whatever. I'm proud I made it this far, I've cleaned myself out, and I'm ready to go back to food now.

Good luck to all, and Godspeed.

So, I kind of blew it. Not horribly...but it still wasn't "by the book," which is dissapointing.

But, I'm still pysched about starting a new lifestyle. I went grocery shopping last night and got a bunch of veggies, fruits, whole grain stuff, etc. I actually took the time to read ingredient lists....why does everything on earth have high fructose corn syrup? Geez. All this "heart healthy" whole grain bread filled with junk. The Organic peanut butter seemed almost as bad as the regular when it came to additives.

Although I won't be going raw, I am going to really try to turn my eating habits around. I'm strangely excited about it--normally the thought of giving up cheeseburgers and fries would have frightened the heck out of me.

Oh, and my veggie soup was amazing this time. Someone suggested using savoy cabbage in the soup and I've found my new favorite food. (this from a proclaimed cabbage hater.) I put in a lot of herbs and seasoning and am really looking forward to eating leftovers for lunch.

Red face Re: Article about breaking a fast and life thereafter

    Hi there...

Hoping someone can help me, as I'm on my last day (10) of MC and concerned about breaking the fast in terms of calories. I know on MC the calorie intake is in the 1000-1200/day range, and now that I'm coming off I'm worried that I won't get that just drinking juices. Carrot juice is about 100 calories a glass, so 2 of those is 200. Do I need to drink 1/2 gallon or so of apple juice?

I know that the body goes into starvation mode on less than 1400/day, and coming off an already calorie restricted diet with even less calories can make it even harder to wake up the system... am I missing something?

    Thanks so much,
    Ronnie

Okay, day one after 10 days on the mc. Started off with OJ this morning, I was really looking forward to it, but even diluted it didn't agree with my stomach. I'm wondering if it was too acidy? I had a bit of white pomegranate tea a bit later (no caffeine) stomach settled down.

This is going to sound strange, but I am missing the lemonade. Couldn't bear the thought of more OJ, so I got some watermelon chunks out of the fridge and put them in the blender, added a little water and drank that instead of the OJ. Kind of bland, but much nicer to my stomach!

My dilemma now is what next? No more watermelon unless I go shopping
I know Peter suggested tomato juice on another thread, has anyone tried that? Maybe I'll try it tonight to see how it goes. Really looking foward to the veggie soup tomorrow!

I may start off with LA in the morning...

    hi RJ Battleship -
I moved your post here since it's more appropriate.
to answer your question, you can drink as much orange juice as you need - 8 oz is about 100 calories and I'm pretty sure you're going to get more than enough.
also, it's only for a day and a half so you'll be fine.
i've never had any problems myself nor heard of anyone having any problems on the juice days.
be the change you want to see in the world - ghandi
