    Hi, Day 23
I will be ending my fast on saturday which puts me at 25 days of the MC. I have read through out many old threads about the use of yogurt instead of buying probiotics in pill forms. I really dislike taking pills not because of the swallowing but its usually not as natural. I do understand that there are some good natural probiotics and they can work great. I really wanted any suggestions on the yogurt, I have read that stonyfields all natural has the essential bacteria needed for the intestines and digestion. Any other suggestion or any local new england area yogurts i may not have thought of.

lalalimon, have you ever tried kombucha? It's a drink - comes in 16 oz glass bottles - will be in the refrigerated section of your health food store. Most Whole Foods I've visited have them. It's tasty, natural and doesn't have milk in it. I wouldn't eat yogurt for my probiotics anymore (although I used to!) because of the mucus it causes. Just one natural alternative to pills. Altho' I'll be taking my probiotic pills, probably sloshing them down with some kombucha, when I go off this cleanse.

I have seen kombucha tea but I haven't looked yet for the drink. I'll look around for it. Is there anything else other than mucus that bothered you about the yogurt? just curious i have never been a yogurt fan.

I LOVE yogurt! But had to give it up along with other milk products for my health. Look at the website notmilk.com for more info. kombucha tea is what I'm talking about. It comes in different flavors, but is basically fermented tea - which is chock full of live enzymes.

Hi everyone. I orginally posted part of this on another thread, but was advised to come here, so, here I am. I am now on day 8 & need some advice on what you are supposed to eat when you want to come off the MC after day 10. I want to be able to go to the store & be prepared for the days following. Also, I have read you could have OJ.. fresh squeezed...any particular type of orange? & then veggie soup & a salad, but is there a "SPECIAL" veggie soup that I should eat or can I have my own homemade one? I sure don't want to get sick or have any pain from eating the wrong thing or to much of it. Thanks much for your help.

OPL: In your book by Burroughs he gives a soup recipe and also instructions for breaking the cleanse. If you don't have the book, then do a "search" in this thread for the instructions.

Also you should be able to find "soup" recipes by using the search feature.

I actually called my mom and told her about the Kombucha tea, well she basically told me I have had it alot through out my life while I was growing up in Venezuela. I guess over there everyone makes it homemade and it is made from a type of mushroom and it has baby mushrooms and everyone just keeps giving away the baby mushrooms and begins to ferment their own tea. I have seen this most of my life but never made the connection.

Wow! Healthy you, lalalimon! I actually looked into making it myself, but it seemed just a bit too involved with the right temperature required at certain stages as it sits out. I'm not sure I can regulate my house that precisely. Any tips on how to make it homemade? You can PM me if you want. I can't imagine growing up drinking kombucha! If I had kids, I would definitely raise them on this, but I just 'discovered' it a few years ago.

    HealthyBiz,

I don't know if you have a dehyrator, but I think you do.

Mine's homemade from 30 years ago and doesn't have a fan or anthing like that. I have seven trays, 2x2' each. And one of them is a heavy-duty hardware cloth tray that can hold more weight.

The dryer doesn't have a thermostat, but it does have a rheostat that allows me to turn the heat up or down. And then I can pull the lid more open or closed.

All this to say: I use it, with a thermometer, to create an environment with a particular temperature. For instance, when I make my spelt bread I first let it rise at 80 degrees, and then later on its final proof is at 95 degrees.

So maybe, if you have a dehydrator, you could rig it some fashion to use it to make kombucha at a particular temperature?

Just a thought. If you don't have a dehyrator yet, keep it in mind when you shop for one! Specifically, either a thermostat or a rheostat, and one tray that can hold more weight. (I'm assuming the kombucha would be made in its water. Maybe it's actually made in some other way and diluted later, in which case the weight might not be a factor.)

Anyway. Just me rambling! I get kombucha every once in a while, but I don't like it much.

Oooh, what a great idea, mtmouse! You're definitely thinking more clearly than me. My dehydrator is still a virgin - waiting for me to complete my cleanse! Hey, lalalimon, what do you think? Would this work? I'll have to dig up that recipe for kombucha I discarded a few months back, now that mtmouse has given me an option for solving my dilemma!
