Hi all,
I'm new to this board, and have just tried pure ground psyllium without mixing it with anything but water (no bentonite clay.) I've taken 3, two tablespoon servings so far, spaced after my main meals. After about 13 hours, I had my first BM with any noticeable difference to it. There was some color to it, and the consistency was mostly like wet cotton candy, light and airy. Let me preface this by saying that before trying the psyllium, I was heavily constipated, with lots of gas and bloating. My prior movements were small and hard to come by. Needless to say, it was a very uncomfortable situation. That first BM like cotton candy came very easily which was a relief, but I was disappointed that there were no "ropes." I just figured that my pipes were already clean.
My second BM while taking the psyllium was more of the same, only less color...a light greenish-yellow; most likely from the bile. It was definitely "cleaner" than the first BM, which convinced me that it was mostly psyllium.
My third movement came just a few minutes ago, and MAN, WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The ropes were there; much different from the earlier movements. They were much more intact, shaped like the rhythmic segmentation of the upper small intestine (I was a human physiology major.) Earlier ones were like cumulus clouds. The smell was different too. I've never smelled anything like that come out of me....horribly nasty. I think the only thing that comes close to that smell would have been some of the dead animals that weren't preserved for dissection in college...like rotting meat. Another observation I had was corn, which we all understands comes out whole, but one week later?!! Where was it this whole time? My guess would be the small intestine. I can understand one or two days later, but seven days is a bit much.
The consistency between the first two BMs and the third were different in another way as well, the last being more "fibrous" in nature. I pulled it up from the middle with a screwdriver, and it had enough weight to have broken in half had it been nothing but the same gelatinous substance occupying the bottom and sides of my drinking glass. There was definitely a filamentous connection throughout the "rope," holding it together.
I'm quickly becoming convinced that there's nothing silly about psyllium. My wife's willing to try it now, based on my observations. I hope sharing my two-day experience with this has helped.
BTW, my stomach did go down a bit almost immediately, and I've **everybody sing!**.... lost, that bloated feeling....whoa that bloated feeling!
