    Default DON'T LIKE MAPLE SYRUP

Hi, I began my first MC five days ago. I do not care for the taste of maple syrup, though, and thought I would start slowly and gradually increase it. But last night (actually early this morning), I went to the bathroom and as I was walking back to my room, I felt faint and I passed out. My husband made me sip orange juice as my sugar level dropped very low (ending my MC). Are they any suggestions as to how to tolerate the maple syrup taste? And when is it safe to start another MC?
    Thanks

    Bad tasting Maple Syrup...

we talked about that 2 months ago.

apparently there are a few varieties of maple syrup that taste ass nasty. after a few other members suggested alternate brands of maple syrup the problem was solved.

time to do another roll call of good tasting maple syrup and where they are found

    I'll start

Bergeron's pure organic maple syrup grade b

available in Canadian stores in Alberta
    Save on foods
    Safeway
    Sobey's

I like the taste so much I sneak a few swigs straight from the bottle

I need help maybe you can asnwer this, I know it is in Peter's book but there isn't an answer. I cannot get Grade B Organic Maple Syrup in Cape Town South Africa, I have tried every health store I know, I am on Day 2 of MC and am using pure Canadian Maple Syrup, perhaps you could shed some light on this, do you think it's good enough? It says nothing else on the bottle except Medium grade. Tates great but I'm not sure if it's ok? Molasses makes me want to throw up so what do I do? Rather try get used to the Molasses or keep using the Maple Syrup that I don't think is the right one? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Tess

I've noticed something interesting. I use limes for my MC, and the maple syrup tastes divine with it (but then I do tend to go overboard on the syrup on the rare occasions that I allow myself pancakes).

Yesterday, for a change of pace, I switched to lemons and hated the aftertaste of the maple syrup. Same syrup I used the day before, the only difference was in the type of citrus I was using. I switched back to limes today and no aftertaste at all. Just my experience, fwiw.

I think I'll buy a bottle of agave nectar for use with the rest of my lemons. That was yucky.

    Hi Tess,

The most important thing about the MS is that it be organic. "Pure" isn't usually as pure as it sounds.

You can, of course, continue as you're doing. I'm sure many others have done so in the past. However, I think it would actually be better to learn to accept the molasses, assuming it's organic.

Can you get sorghum or cane juice by any chance? Those are also allowed.

You could also order agave online. (Obviously, for another cleanse.) I think it would be a lot cheaper than ordering organic MS online.

Good luck, whatever way you choose to go.

Exclamation Re: DON'T LIKE MAPLE SYRUP

    Hey everyone,
I am in a bit of paranoia here. Well...alot actually.

I recently bought 2 bottles of Rowse Pure Canadian Maple Syrup Organic No.2 Amber Grade from Sainbury's (they were quite pricey so I don't think I am getting my money back after opening the bottle). The problem I have is that I have never tasted Maple Syrup, and Rowse maple syrup tastes like Toffee. Well at the back it says:

Organic Maple Syrup is one of nature's delicacies, produced simply by evaporating the sap of the sugar maple tree, which grows predominantly in the Canadian provinces of Quebec, New Brunswick and Ontario.
Collected in just a few weeks at the onset of Spring, is takes 40 litres of sap to produce 1 litre of Pure Maple Syrup.
Rowse organic Maple Syrup has a rich caramel taste and is delicious on pancakes, in sweet and savoury recipes, on in a barbeque sauce.

I just used 2tps of it for my juice and I am really scared that it is not the right Maple Syrup....

I suppose I cannot do the MC in uk...

I don't mind the maple syrup, this is more of a thing of discipline more than "what you like" and I have to remind myself of this. The taste of the syrup gets to me after a while I get bored with it and I don't want to drink it anymore, but i do it by force I thought I read and alternative like if you have access to liquid cane sugar and then just add lemon. I am sure it said it had to be fresh. (What a bummer my Aunt has a sugar cane farm in Central America!) Now that taste good. I heard you can also use Molasses? But I think it was only for the diabetics (don't quote me on this I could be wrong after all this is the internet. ) I can't find anywhere that says maple syrup is the only one that can be used... I mean people try that bee vomit... I mean honey, but i don't care for that either, and it really isn't that good for you anyway. I wonder if one can you Brown Rice Syrup... Now that is delicious stuff!

Can we use pancake syrup? (just kidding) but love the taste of all those artificial sweeteners....yum..

Hey there Eoterm, you can use organic dark agave nectar. I alternate between the agave nectar and the maple syrup, I also use limes with the lemons as well. Nice change of pace. Good luck to you.

I for one don’t like maple syrup. Organic or non organic I don’t care .For any using organic maple syrup who does not like its tastes, no one says it is going to be easy to go on a diet. There are only two ways I can suggest either you keeping on with the diet it without minding the taste or just stop and get on with your life.

I am no fan of maple extract, so I figured boiling down the syrup a bit would be a good way to get rid of it and the more-expensive sugar.
