Sorry for the delayed response, serve.it. I just now saw this post. I LOVE that you are interested in improving your health and found your way here! That's super. Keep in mind, this is not a one-time "fix." It's designed to be a launching pad for eating better and for changing habits that aren't working for us. It is a powerful detoxing process and can cause cramping and headaches and pains while toxins are leaving the body. Are you ready for that part of the cleanse, too?
In answer to your question, there are a load of variables. It can be very helpful, but it's powerful and may cause some problems. Usually I see parents posting asking if it's OK for their kids to be on the cleanse. We prefer for you to be a little older before starting a cleanse. But depending on body type and other factors, it might be OK.
So, here are a few questions:
How much extra weight do you carry? Since you are still in your growing years, there may be cautions about the cleanse until you get a little older. Perhaps a cleansing diet of mostly raw vegetables, green smoothies, avocados, coconuts and seeds would be better for you. What is your current diet like?
Are your parents or the adults in your life supportive? Will they help you and encourage you with this? If someone else, besides you, in the household makes the rules, (which I think is normal when you're 15), it would help to get their support and maybe even educate them if they're not familiar with the MC. You want to make sure they aren't going to force you to eat - or to go somewhere right in the middle of the salt water flush. My husband was a little difficult to live with on my first cleanse. He kept telling me, "You're going to die if you stay on that cleanse!" He was so worried about me. Now, he asks when I'm planning my next cleanse and will even buy the lemons and limes for me! He's relaxed now because he's had the experience of seeing how great I look and feel after (and during) a cleanse.
Will you be able to get up in the morning early enough to have the salt water flush (SWF) complete its work before you have to leave for school? That would save some embarrassing moments! Can you commit to at least 10 days? Will you be allowed to drink the lemonade between classes and not just at lunchtime? I find it lots easier to stay on the cleanse if I can have some of the lemonade when I get hungry, rather than waiting for a scheduled meal time.
How much exercise do you do? Are you involved in team sports that you need to participate in? Exercise is great on the cleanse, but marathon-type, long-range activity can leave you extra tired and depleted while on the cleanse, so use caution.
Now for the good news, this cleanse is super for almost everyone. Our bodies were not used to being fed 3 times a day nor even every day in ancient times. Have you read Stanley Burroughs book on The Master Cleanse or Peter Glickman's books? They would really help you get prepared and would share any cautions about adolescents and the cleanse.
If you were my child and a small 15-year old who hasn't been raised on fast food, I would opt for a cleansing diet, rather than the cleanse. If I were considering the cleanse for you, I'd want you to be under a doctor's care and guidance during the cleanse. Does that make sense?
I hope this helps!
