Hi there! I am completely new to this site. I have been thinking about doing the MC for some time now. One of my main concerns is the prolonged use of laxatives. I have suffered from constipation my whole life. I take the herbal "Get Regular" typically at least once a week. I notice that it hasn't helped like it used to, and I'm afraid that my intestines are not able to move the stool on their own all ready. The laxative tea should not be used for longer than 10 days...so for those who have used this cleanse for a longer period of time...do you find having a bowel movement (on your own, with out the help of the tea or salt water flush) after the cleanse to be difficult?

Often the medications that one is on may cause constipation. Also, as we age we are more likely to have constipation. Eating plenty of fruits and high fiber vegetables are an important part of a normal diet for constipation relief. As long as you are not on dialysis you should also be drinking plenty of water each day. If your diet, medications, fluid intake, or even activity level has changed that could affect your level of constipation. There are people that take senna for extended periods daily by physician order. It really depends on individual needs. The Master Cleanse is just for a temporary period. Senna is one of the milder laxatives. You can stop it when you stop the cleanse or go back to once a week.
