Thread: 2012: What Day Are You On and How Are You Doing?

Day 12 and FINAL day here! Yahoo! I cannot believe I made it. I have decided to stop as my tongue is returning to a nice pink color and I barely have anything coming out in my eliminations now.

Selway - as for the bleeding on Day 10, it was definitely hemmorhoids as I had some telltale symptoms before and it cleared up by the next day. It is amazing how quickly the body can heal on a cleanse.

Overall final observations on my first master cleanse:
-Day 2 was a horrible day with very bad headaches (detox symptoms)
-Day 6 was my worst day of the cleanse (I think Day 7 for others) where I felt aches and pains everywhere (like a flu) and could barely get out of bed
-only felt hunger and cravings the first few days and after that no hunger whatsoever
-my skin looks great and many people have commented on it.
-I have definitely lost weight, not sure how much as I do not own a scale. However, I can tell by my face, my clothes and a few people have commented on how skinny I am!
-My energy level is awesome.....I feel really good and have spent the last few days finding a good homeade vegetable stock recipe and vegetable soup recipe. I have also been pulling out some other healthy recipes like hummous and my favorite salads. I am so excited!

I must say that I am surprised that I made it to 12 days......I have done other cleanses in the past but never a pure liquid one so I was not sure I could make it. I think by planning the cleanse around a time of year with few social engagements and then politely declining others really helped. Also, I planned it around a 4 day off weekend at the beginning of the cleanse as I was not sure how sick I would feel.

Well, I have already bought my beautiful oranges for tomorrow and will pick up all my veg to make my homeade broth tomorrow. I amvery excited!

Thanks again to all for sharing their experiences - it REALLY helped and inspired me. And to all of you still cleansing, best of luck and hang in there! It feels so good when you finish!

Chancy - Woot woot!!! Congratulations!! I liked your recap of the cleanse - that is a great idea for a post. So glad that it was a positive experience for you - even with the rash! I am drooling at the thought of fresh squeezed orange juice and vegetable broth! I will miss your updates.

Randal G - you make this look easy!

Everyone else still hanging in there? We can do this.

Today is Day 17 for me. I am looking forward to my next lemonade drink - hungrier today than usual so will add an extra drink or two. My skin has finally cleared up (one benefit of the cleanse that I had read about but not experienced until today) and I feel good. I put my scale away in a cabinet and am going to try and not look at it until Sunday.

One question - are people exercising while doing this MC?

    Have a great day!

    Hi Everyone,

Day 3 for me is almost in the can. This has been an interesting fast, usually my first 3 days are easy and then I'm dragging for the rest. But I have a feeling this time it will be a little different. I slept for most of day 1 and 2 and had no energy at all. Today was OK, but I was very hungry for most of the day. But all in all, everything has been going well. I've been very mellow and relaxed, which has been nice.

    Chancy72 - Congrats!! 12 days is awesome

Selway - Thanks for the welcome! And to answer your question, I have been exercising, but it has been very light (walking and yoga). During one of my previous MC I tried to maintain my normal workouts and I found that it made me way too hungry. I've been alternating the yoga workouts from the P90X and P90X2, they are pretty challenging, but not too challenging.

Hello everyone. This is my second cleanse. My first was 2.5 months ago and lasted 11 days. This is day 4 for me. I plan to go for at least 20 days. I have been drinking alot of the lemonade, mostly with extra maple syrup. The only real detox symptom I have experienced so far is anger.

    Day Five.

I felt euphoric for a while when I first got to work, but then some anger later on and tiredness. I have had four eliminations today, besides the SWF. I would class it as diarrhoea, but then what else should I expect? In the book Glickman says to stop the laxative tea and the SWF for a few days if you have diarrhoea, but surely watery eliminations are normal? I am a bit worried about this. I need the laxative tea and the SWF. If I agitate all the toxins in me but don't eliminate them I will feel horrible!

Day 19/40 here. Just cruising along. Almost 1/2 way! I gave in and weighed myself this AM (wasn't going to until Sunday) and weigh 193 now (so 21 pounds down). I am still following the plan to a "T". Tongue is still yucky, but that is OK because if it was pink now I might be tempted to end the cleanse sooner. I am looking forward to fruit! I workout in the AM, walk over my lunch break and usually try to do something in the evenings, but backed that off a little over the last few days and the scale hasn't stalled (which is why I had to peek....), so that is good.

Shakey - I hear you on the anger side-effect. I am not usually a grouchy person or are short with people, but I have had to really work during this cleanse to keep those in check! I am surprised that you still have diarrhea on Day 5 - I did on Day 1 and 2 and thought that was just from flushing all of the food out. Since then I only have eliminations in the AM during the SWF phase and then nothing all day. Careful to not get dehydrated!

Jennifer - Hanging in there? Cravings/hunger subsided? Make sure you are getting enough lemonade if you are really tired....

Randal G, Soph, Jesse - you still hanging on?

Everyone have a great, cleansing, day!

selway: Wow, 40 days! That is impressive. Well done on the weight loss. I am also aiming for a long cleanse. Hopefully 30 days, but a minimum of 20. This is day 6 for me. I am surprised at how much exercise you are able to do. My energy levels have dropped off considerably. Thankfully the anger has subsided today and I was only short with one colleague. I only had eliminations following the SWF today, thank goodness.

I have been drinking alot of lemonade, sometimes with an extra spoonful of maple syrup and beating myself up about it because I need to lose weight. I realised today that if I need the full 12 drinks, even with extra maple syrup, in order to fight off hunger then it is ok. Cravings started today, for chinese food mainly.

Tomorrow is the dread day 7.

Day 5 is coming to a close for me. So far so good with everything, and best of all I’m off from work until next Tuesday…so I get to chill out and fast. I hope that is a good thing because working was a nice distraction, but I have a bunch of stuff I need to take care of, so I just need to keep busy. My ankle (still mildly sprained) has started aching; I hope that means some healing is going on. This is the first time I ever sprained anything, I really hope it heals up as that is the whole point of me doing this fast!

Shakey – Don’t beat yourself up over putting extra syrup in your lemonade, it does help with the hunger. The first MC that I did I used extra syrup from time to time and still managed to lose more weight than I hoped I would. It sounds like you doing great, hopefully day 7 won’t be so bad.

Selway – 19 days is awesome, sounds like you are going strong. What kind of workouts are you doing? If I do anything more than yoga or light cardio while on the MC I feel like a zombie. I haven’t had too much in the way of cravings, which is shocking to me, but I really wanted to chew some gum today. I resisted, but thought that was a weird craving.

Day 20/40, 1/2 way there! I made the mistake of accidently licking a gravy spoon (old habits die hard) while making dinner for the family last night. Wow, my stomach did not like that! But, perhaps it was a good experience because I definitely do not want to do that again! I will plan to break the fast slowly and remind myself that food (as small of a taste as it might seem to be) is not going to be received well until then!

I am trying something that I read about in the success stories thread - varying the number of lemonade drinks daily. I usually have 6, 7 if I feel like I need it, so today I am going to drink 8 or 9 and see what happens. So, I had to peek at the scale again - for comparison of course , I am losing a pound a day. I don't have a digital scale, so I don't know how much that varies. We will see how this effects my mood/irritability, energy and weight loss.

Shakey - Definitely don't beat yourself up about the extra maple syrup. During my second week I tried to cut the maple syrup in 1/2 and couldn't understand why I was absolutely exhausted. Well, my maple syrup is 200 calories for 1/4 cup. For 3 Tbsp per day of maple syrup, that is only 150 calories!! My weight loss stopped - not increased. Do what you have to, more maple syrup, more lemonade, whatever. Good luck with Day 7, you can do it!!

Jennifer - Sprained ankles are the worst, I hope your heals quickly. It will be nice for you to have the long weekend to veg out and fast! I am actually nervous about it because of all of the distractions I have at home - making kids' breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner, dessert, etc. I have family coming into town and we are hosting a BBQ, etc. But, I am committed to another 20 days. I am fine all day at work - just have a lemonade every couple of hours and no temptations.

To answer your question - my workouts have definitely dropped off since I started the MC. I started with P90X in the AM, walking 3 miles at lunch, and doing Turbo Fire in the evening - and on 150 calories. Not a good idea - as mentioned above, it did not increase weight loss at all and I was EXHAUSTED. So now I just do a short workout in the AM - like Jillian Michaels 30 day shred - and then walk at lunch. Yoga would be OK too, I just want to do something to make sure I don't drop too much muscle in the next 20 days. I worked so hard during P90X to build that base!!

Everyone have a great day - and a great holiday if you live here in the U.S. I imagine the board will be quiet here over the long weekend. For some reason my phone won't let me submit replies to posts, not sure why, but if anyone needs to vent, celebrate, whatever, know that I am reading this thread daily and thinking about you! Happy Cleansing!

Well today is day 11 and I'm sipping OJ as I type. I lost a little over 10 lbs. in the last 10 days. Things went really well I think over the last 10 days without many detox symptoms. My tongue is still yellowish-white although not as bad as the first 3 or 4 days of the cleanse but unfortunately my schedule won't allow me to go any further. My goal was 10 days and I made it so I'm happy about that. I feel like I can go another 10 days easily and I probably will plan on that next time which I'm aiming for this fall/winter. It's nice to have this board for encouragement during your cleansing. I'll see you all this fall if not before.
