Hi guys. I have been very tired for days now so I apologise for vanishing. This would be day 13 but the truth is I have broken the fast. I came downstairs to make my first lemonade of the day after the flush yesterday morning and instead found myself juicing oranges. About five minutes later I was eating oranges with no problems and then last night I bought a full blown Chinese takeaway. I did overeat, and after two huge plates of heavy food I did feel a bit uncomfortable but two cups of mint tea sorted that out. I know I didn't break the fast anywhere near like it says to do in Glickman and Burroughs' books but to be perfectly honest I have had none of the problems others have had from breaking it incorrectly/eating cooked food too soon. At one point the scales were showing that I had lost over a stone (14 pounds) on my eleven days of cleansing, and all in all I have to be happy about that. However, I have some serious reservations about the master cleanse and its effectiveness. Then again, I have to concede that I did not follow the instructions to the letter or do many of the other recommended activities to aid detox. For example, I mixed nearly all of the pup from the lemons/limes into my drinks on most of the days, including tiny seeds which are obviously protein. I am still confused about whether adding some or all of the pulp is recommended, although I remember Burroughs says 'some' can be included. I was also fast and loose with the amount of lemon/lime juice and water in each drink. The Glickman book is very disappointing. Reading it has not answered alot of questions I still have.
The Chinese takeaway tastes great, but it isn't as mind-blowingly wonderful as I thought it would be. The oranges, however, are delicious. I will allow myself a few more days of indulgence before starting exercise, a cooked vegan diet and more research. I will stick around this forum to see how you are all doing. I may repeat the master cleanse in two or three months if I think it will help me.
