Thread: 2012: What Day Are You On and How Are You Doing?

I just wrote a detailed account of my questions, and then was told I wasn't logged in--even though I was. So discouraging. I REALLY need some advice, as I am feeling very lost and defeated. At this point, I'm going to write a shorter one and hope that someone responds. If so, I will attempt to recreate my questions. So, does anyone have knowledgeable information about the differences (advantages and disadvantages) between the Master Cleanse and pure water fasting? I have done multiple MCs with good results, but am on Day 7 of my first water fast and need some help. I have tried asking at the water fast blogs, but no one has been able to provide helpful or knowledgeable answers to my questions. Thanks in advance for any responses!

    Default Day 5

I woke up at about 1:30am thanks to the senna tea. I did not fall back to sleep but did at least rest quietly for a bit. I did the swf at 4. I think I was on the verge of falling back to sleep a bit ago but by then it was time to get my daughter's breakfast and lunch together. Other than being tired from so much lost sleep lately, I'm feeling great. I'm halfway through lemonade #2 and have had several glasses of water.

In a few hours I will be heading to the market for more organic lemons and hopefully limes too. I probably won't start using limes just yet as I do try to hold off until day 7 but if I'm going to the store I think I might just try to get enough citrus to last through the rest of the cleanse.

TMCc, my dog is a mix: 1/4 each of bull mastiff, bischon, boston terrier, and then the rest of her is a mix of English setter, schauzer, and a very small portion of rottweiler. She is commonly mistaken for a pitbull and really is just as sweet and loyal as one. The other is a red nosed pitbull but she's my boyfriend's dog. The dogs, both girls, are the reason we met. .... So funny that you dreamed of gum the other night because I did too for some reason and I never chew it. You're in the home stretch now!

Shakey, way to go! I do find getting enough sleep to be a challenge when I'm doing the MC. Between my family and the senna tea I just never seem to be able to get a full night of sleep. Truthfully, that's not just confined to the MC but at least I don't also have the senna thing happening when 'm not cleansing. Good luck with your upcoming shifts.

Kimberly82, congrats on passing the halfway mark by now! I'm so sorry about your accident and hope your recovery goes smoothly. I also have to work at finishing all 6 lemonades but like you I do it because I must.

DRBREW, sounds like you have a good grip of it all and I'm sorry your dentist doesn't offer the nitrous. Hopefully the cleanse will aid in a speedy recovery.

Base, I never ease into my cleanses. For me, the senna tea the night before is enough of an ease-in. lol I try to drink the bulk of my water early in the morning and slow down on water by evening so I'm well hydrated but not peeing all night. Sometimes I actually do this successfully but probably as often end up drinking several glasses later as I realize I need more water than I already managed to drink.

EmilyNicole, I'm not sure what kind of details you would like. I recall reading that a water fast does not have the benefit of the lemonade's cleansing effects nor the nutrients. It was my understanding that a water fast doesn't clean you out as well since the eliminations are not being helped along plus water is just not as potent a cleanser as lemon and cayenne to really break up the gunk in our systems. The MC is called master cleanse and not master fast because it's primary purpose is cleansing.

Ursa - Thank you so much for responding!! It was great to get a intelligent response so quickly. I have heard conflicting things about the MC vs. Water Fast. One side was aligned with what you pointed out, which totally makes sense. The other side says water fasting is the only thing even more detoxifying than the MC. If I remember the article correctly, one of the reasons was b/c the body didn't have to deal w processing the sugar in the Maple Syrup so had no choice but to use harmful stores for energy. (It claimed the body will always reach for fat and damaged cells first when it doesn't have food.) So, I decided to try it this time over the MC because of the purported extra detox benefits but also b/c I have to save every penny I have right now. My car is broken AND I'm moving soon, so both of these will require lots of extra money. (In my area, Maple Syrup is pretty expensive & organic lemons aren't exactly cheap either. So, I figured the savings would be an added bonus!) My MCs have gone relatively smoothly in the past, and I've had some great results. With the water fast, I felt fine the first 3 days. (Just one headache and some hunger pains, but I had those on the MC too.) However, for the past four days, I have had HORRIBLE nausea. I can't stand up for more than a minute without overwhelming nausea and dizziness. Therefore, I haven't been able to shower in four days. This is a real problem b/c I need to go back to work tomorrow. I have of course considered breaking the fast with some juice, but since I have to lay down to avoid the nausea, I have no way to go to the store and buy the juice. (Not to mention the fact that I wouldn't feel comfortable going out in public without showering for this long.) I'm also wondering if the laxative tea I take on MCs would help. As you pointed out, the eliminations aren't being helped along, so maybe that is why I feel so bad? Anyway, I just feel so trapped b/c I have things to do today and work tomorrow. I'm assuming the juice would help the nausea but can't go get it. So, I'm praying this unbearable nausea will finally subside later today. Also, I'm baffled as to why I felt fine for the first 3 days, and then miserable every day after. It's supposed to be the opposite! If anyone has any input or suggestions, they would be most appreciated. Sorry for rambling, but my head is very foggy from insomnia, nausea, and weakness. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Morning everyone!

Ursa Aw. Your dog sounds like she has a dash of some of the best breeds! I love pit bulls. My uncle adopted mine before I moved and couldn't keep her (his cat had passed away the same year, and it was a perfect match, I'm still incredibly grateful she's still in our family with a daddy who loves her). They are incredibly loyal and sweet dogs. It is a shame people stereotype them at times. HAHA we're dreaming about gum! So funny. Last night I dreamed I broke my fast with a lemon. I have thought about switching to limes, have you tried it before? I don't mind the lemonade much, so I might try it on my last day just to celebrate with a "Cleanse-garita" How do you like limes vs. lemons?

EmilyNicole I'm sorry to hear you're having such a hard time. Sounds terrible. Is there any way to take a bath or sit in the shower? I know for me, a hot shower makes me feel rejuvenated. I can't comment on how you should continue with your water cleanse. My only advice is: listen to your body. Maybe instead of the water cleanse you could switch to juice and then join us on the MC once you're moved and settled. Seriously, listen to your body. We're all here for you! Keep us posted.

DRBREW I just asked because I had two teeth pulled last year, one was normal and one was considered surgical. The regular "yank it out" tooth healed up nicely with in a couple days, while the surgical took a little longer to heal and was more painful. The bonus: salt water rinses are excellent for keeping the area clean and speed up healing! Yes! My house is very old and VERY COLD too! That's the down side. But I love living in a place with such history. It's in wonderful shape and I"m a clean freak, so spring cleaning is finding any hidden mold (I live in the Pacific NorthWest), and purging all the junk we've collected over the year. Kind of like the MC!

Base Hi!! Oh, drinking water is something I have never been good about. But I moved our water cooler next to my desk (I work from home) and that has helped immensely. When I hear it kick on, I think "More water!" ha ha. I'm hoping it will eventually lead to something I do naturally.

Kimberly82 How are you doing!? I hope the SWF was a bit easier for you today.

Shakey Welcome to Day 8! How was the rest of your day? Let me know what exercise you find that you can stick with! Ha ha. That seems to be my problem too. Though I live in the city and don't drive, so I walk everywhere.

Doctor Bunsen Hey Doc, how are you doing? I hope you're enjoying sporting all those "new" clothes!

Day 7 for me! Yay!! This morning I made my SWF with slightly warm water (not too warm). I've been using room temperature which is still about 55 degrees. This morning I used half room temp, half hot which made the water slightly warm. It was the quickest, easiest, and most pleasant SWF I've done so far on the cleanse. No cramping at all! I almost switched to tea in the mornings and told myself to just DO IT. I'm so glad I did. I've heard Day 7 can be rough, but with such an easy start this morning, I think it will be MUCH better. My tongue is also nearly all pink again too!! Still a little white, but not nearly as bad as it was a couple days ago. My severe mood swings have pretty much passed and now I'm feeling great! Still a little weak, but I am continuing to run errands, spring clean, so I'm staying pretty active. It makes my sleep so wonderful. I fall like a sack a potatoes on the pillow.

Keep up the great work everyone! And thank you all for posting. You make this process so much easier by bringing community and support.

Hi MCchickadee, thank you so much for your sweet response. It's nice to have the support and encouragement. Unfortunately, I can't take a bath b/c my stopper is broken (although that would be ideal since I could lay down), but I did try sitting in the shower as you suggested. I was able to do it for a couple a minutes, but then got nauseous and dizzy so had to run back to bed dripping wet. I can a couple minutes longer sitting than standing for sure, but then I feel sick again and laying down is the only thing that quells my nausea & dizziness. So, I still don't feel clean & didn't get to start on washing my hair. I may try again later tonight. I definitely want to break this fast, but just can't get to the store in this condition. I'm praying I feel strong enough later to finish showering & going to the store. I'm pretty sure some juice would help me feel better and hopefully allow me to go to work tomorrow. I would like to do another MC after I'm moved & settled, as I had some great results w my past cleanses and never felt sick like this. In fact, I was functional, going to work, social events, light exercise, etc. Any positive thoughts and/or prayers that this nausea subsides would be much appreciated! Thanks again to Ursa & MCchickadee for their help and suggestions. <3 On a side note, I have a friend who started an MC today. However he is still smoking on it! I'm thinking this would probably compromise most of the benefits of the cleanse. I mean, it would be like drinking alcohol or caffeine, right? Stanley Burroughs says in the book not to add any other substances at all, and I'm assuming cigarettes would be one of the worst. Does anyone know if he'll be able to get any benefits while still smoking? Thanks for any responses.

P.S. MCchickadee, when I've done my MCs in the past, I've often warmed the water for the SWF too. I find it much easier that way! Congrats on Day 7! How many days do you want to go? I'm so glad I have internet to entertain me since I have to lay down all day. And thank goodness it's a laptop so I can type while vertical. If not, I think I'd be going out of my mind right now!

Glad to hear that about the quick recovery, it's a top wisdom tooth, easily accessible, my dentist thinks it'll go pretty smoothly.

    Hi Everyone,
I've been reading through everyone's experiences here and in Mr. Glickman's book and it has helped me in a huge way. Thank you so much for sharingn your experiences.

This is Day 1 for me and it is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I did not have a problem with the SWF. I woke up at 4:30 am and started my SWF at 5:00 am since I have to be at work at 7 am. I work from home, but as a customer service rep and on the phone all day. I was fine after the flush, but started feeling really sick after about 10:00 am. I don't think it had anything to do with the SWF. I felt nauseous and my stomach did not feel right. I took a nap and felt better, but after my 3rd lemonade around 1:00 pm, I started feeling sick again. Nothing I can put my finger on exactly, but just wanted to lie down. I just felt yucki if that makes sense.

Isn't day one super early to start feeling like this? From everything I've read everyone feels sick on day 2. Have any of you ever felt this sick into the journey? I'm really scared what it will be like tomorrow. Am I going to feel worse?

Hi guys. Nice to hear how you are all doing again. Keep it going. I always come here intending to reply to people individually but the brain fog and physical/mental fatigue after work is hampering me. Today I even reversed my car into a neighbour's wall and knocked the end off! I can laugh now, but at the time I didn't find it very funny. My mother was kind enough to buy me three organic lemons and four regular limes. I have a bowl of citrus ready for action! Anyway, I can barely keep my eyes open and have tea to drink. Take care.

P.s. Emily, I am very concerned. Water fasting does have its own benefits which are even greater than the MC. However, a water fast of more than a few days is usually monitored every day by a doctor or at least someone professionally certified to observe patients on a water fast. Going back to work does not sound possible, juice or no juice. Is there someone who could bring some juice to you instead of going yourself? Please take care and have a phone near to you at all times in case you need help urgently.

Hi Shakey. Thanks for your response. Yes, at this point it's looking as though I'm going to have to take a sick day tomorrow b/c I still haven't started feeling any better. I was gonna ask my friend to bring me some juice tonight when he got out of work but I passed out at 5pm and didn't wake up again until 2:30am. So, I'm gonna ask him to bring some by in the morning. I hate for him to have to see me in this god-awful state (I look like death), but I really need some nourishment! Hopefully that will help me feel better, and then I pray I can ease into fruits pretty soon after that. I also got my period today, even though my last one just ended a week ago. My periods are always very regular, even when I've done MCs in the past. So, I'm pretty annoyed that I have to deal w one more thing while feeling so incredibly sick. I can't believe what a stark contrast there is between this pure water fast and the MC!! SHAKEY--How did your neighbor react to the garage? Is it going to cost a lot to repair? I'm sorry that happened. Hopefully that brain fog will lift soon. Most of my MC days I felt pretty clear-headed, so I hope you will feel that soon too! Thanks again for your concern.
