Early evening of Day 13 and I'm feeling fine. Actually shocked that I've made it this long. I'm down about 10 pounds and that number has been the same for the last few days, so that may be all I needed to drop at the moment. Of course I would love to lose maybe 5 more, but I knew that wasn't the main idea here, so I'm happy with what I get!

I was planning to end it tomorrow, but I think I might try to keep going for another 7 days. I'm amazed that I'm still eliminating "stuff" and I want it to all be gone! I'm becoming obsessed with clean insides. I've already started researching raw food recipes and I will plan a shopping trip next week to get everything I need to wean myself off. I'm excited to think about it but it seems funny that 8 days doesn't seem like too much longer to go without food.

Sounds like everyone is doing great! Fun to have some people just starting, too. I will really miss this board in between cleanses!

Maple syrup and lemons it is!!

10 pounds in 13 days, pretty awesome. If you go another 7 days, those last 5 pounds will probably say bye bye. You are so there Ahuahu, your focus is very inspiring. Glad to have you here for another week.

    Day Ten for me Lemonheads!

I took Dr. Mercola's Free Nutritional Typing: http://products.mercola.com/nutritional-typing/ ! I found that I am a Mixed Type...my husband is a Veggie Type! No wonder I still crave breads when he doesn't!

I cannot wait to study the results!

This is Day 10 for me...transition starts tomorrow! Whoohoo! This cleanse was tough for me...lots a detox symptoms until Day 5...bad attitude and a lack of energy .more than I usually experience. So I didn't have the energy to post during my cleanse...today is Furlough Friday so I'm home or you wouldn't hear from me until tomorrow.

Here's my plan...fast one day a week for the next month and weigh in one day a week to keep myself on track! This should help me maintain my desired weight, along with smaller portions. Even though I have been 85% raw vegan I gained weight...too many nuts and seeds I guess. Unless something changes, my next cleanse will be an extended cleanse in January 2011!

    Happy Cleansing!

Totally new to this board, but since this is my 2nd Master Cleanse, and I wimped out on day 7 of the first, I figured that some moral support couldn't hurt this time around. I am currently a college student, and I've been struggling with my weight for some time now. Ultimately, the goal is a significant weight loss, but I love the idea of detoxing and essentially hitting the Reset button to start off my weight loss journey. Once off of the cleanse, I'd like to transition to mostly raw foods.

Today is Day 1 of the cleanse. I probably should have done more of an ease-in, but thanks to the holiday weekend, I succumbed to the BBQs. But I've had the date set for a long time now, and far be it from me to deviate. This has been planned so that I will be home all weekend, since the first few days are usually the worst. After barely choking down the salt water flush this morning, everything else went smoothly, and I was feeling pretty good. Around 2pm, I was getting a headache, so I took a nap, which in retrospect probably only made the headache worse, as I still have it. Also, I am rather annoyingly craving a cheesesteak- I can't even remember the last time I had a cheesesteak, and it feels too early in the cleanse for all the residual detox cravings, but who knows? I'll probably go to bed pretty early to help the headache and shut up the cravings, but I'm already dreading the morning SWF!

Wish me luck! Glad to see so many others are working on this with me!
Welcome aboard Bethieboo, so glad to have you join the crew. Congratulations on a decision that is going to change the way you feel and function for the better.
The craving part of the cleanse is really tough, the funny thing is we usually crave things that we don't normally eat. The control that we learn over those cravings, are what we have to take with us when we do start eating again.(that is the hard part) I love the food dreams that we have while cleansing. Dreaming you are eating something with such vigor until you realize "OMG I AM DETOXING, I AM NOT SUPPOSED TO BE EATINGGGGGGG!!! wake up in a panic and realize "THANK GOD THAT WAS A DREAM".

Again welcome and blessings for success are coming your way. Have a great day.

Hey Tanya, congratulations on finishing up. I remember we cleansed together before and I will see you again in January. I am sorry this one was a little more difficult this time, but you made it through as usual right. I am going to check out the website you posted, sounds interesting. Thanks for posting, see you in January.

I have noticed for the past 3 cleanses, including this one, that I get dark circles under my eyes for 2 - 3 days. Not sagging, but definitely dark circles. They went away yesterday. Don't know why they come or why they go - but clearly part of the cleanse.
No, it's not really kosher. But it won't kill you. I would recommend finishing the day out with lemonade, making Friday your juice day, and then having soup on Saturday. Veggie soup is fairly easy to find, although finding something more "pure" than, say, Campbell's can be tricky. If you think that will just be too difficult with the traveling and relatives and all, go ahead with your plan of half lemonade, half oj today. Be sure to still do the tea and SWF tonight and tomorrow, too. I'm sorry for your loss - do what you need to do to help yourself and your family through this tough time.

Today is Day 11. How did that happen so soon?
This morning I determined to go outside, sit in the sun, and fix my good scale.
Here is the saga of the scales: About 5 years ago, I used to have a really good doctor's scale. Not the big tall ones, but just like it, only about hip level. I had had it for 15 years and it was wonderful. Then one day my then teen-aged son, pushed it over in a fit of rage and broke it. (He still owes me the money for that! ). I kept it for a few years, thinking that I would try to repair it, and I would try from time to time, but I was clue-less. I bought a $20 bathroom scale in the meantime, which registered just a few lbs. difference from the old scale, but it had been a couple of weeks since the old one broke, so I considered that accurate. A few months ago I decided I wanted a new doctor's quality scale, but couldn't find one anywhere in this area. On line, new ones were something like $300, plus maybe $50 shipping (I had paid maybe $125 for my old one.) So I went on e-bay and found one for $80 plus shipping ($20, $30? don't remember). When it got here, it didn't work. It weighed things, but it said I was about 50 lbs. less than I should be. So I started going through all the hassle of getting my money back, but it took so long and was so much red tape that the time limit expired and I was stuck with a broken scale. I put it aside, thinking maybe I could try to fix it. Well, sometime in August, someone or something (probably my cat) knocked a glass quart juice jar from the counter onto my cheap-o bathroom scale - it fell right on the weight-reading window and broke the scale. I went to the drug store to buy a replacement cheap-o scale, but they all gave me different weights, so I didn't trust them to be accurate and didn't buy any of them.
So...this morning I spent about 45 minutes dismantling the e-bay doctor's scale. I FIXED IT !! (I think?). It seems that in shipping, one of the levers had come off its fulcrum. The matching lever was still on ITS fulcrum, so the scale was "working" but just not accurately. I used some free weights from the bench press to test and calibrate it's accuracy, and it's right on the money - at least for things under 100 lbs.
Then I went to the gym to see how my scale compared to the gym's scale. My gym has a good doctor's scale in the main weight room, and then some $30 scales in the women's and men's locker rooms. These scales at the gym do NOT match each other - so I didn't feel I could trust either of them. The doctor's scale was PROBABLY right, but I HATE weighing myself in public!!! It's also right near the water fountain where anyone can come by and see how much you weigh! ugh!
My newly-fixed doctor's scale was 3 lbs. less than the gym's doctor's scale.
So, now I have a scale...but I have no idea how accurate it is. It says I weigh 9 lbs. more than I did at the end of my last cleanse - even though my clothes and measurements say I should weigh within 2 lbs. of my last weight. The scales in the drug store said I weigh 5 lbs. less than my last cleanse weight. The scale at the gym says I weigh 13 lbs. more than my last cleanse weight.

    SCALES SUCK
Well, I'm going to go by this scale now. It's not so much the number that counts, as just being able to see how much you go down by.
I think this is probably more accurate than the $20 scale I had been using....which means that I started off weighing about 10 lbs. more at my top weight than I had ever realized I was. Well, wait...I can't even count that because I am used to weighing myself first thing in the morning without any clothes, and today I have weighed myself in the middle of the day, with clothes and shoes, and after walking around and lifting things (the scale and the free weights). I will have to weigh myself in the morning. It seems most likely that this scales registers only 5-6 lbs. more than my old bathroom scale. That's easier to live with.
My son just got on the scale and it says he weighs 15 lbs. LESS than he usually does!!

But now that I know how to fix scales, I wish I hadn't thrown that 1st doctor's scale out....I could probably fix it now, and then we'd have 2 to compare.
Oh BROTHER !!! I think I'm just going to have to go by how my clothes fit...and they're fitting JUST fine!!! I can button up my short short jeans if I lie down on the bed.... And I'm only about an inch away from being able to button them up standing up, lol!!

More from "As the lemon turns...." tomorrow.
Lahontani I so love your posts. I know it is just a matter of time before those commercials are going to make me punch the tv. I know right, The Olive Garden ones are a low blow. I love their soup and salad. I have the dark circles too, but these sags/bags/luggage under my eyes made me feel my age. Thank God they are gone now; hopefully never to return.

I can relate to the scale story. No, I don't think I can fix one, lol, but finding one that is accurate is so draining. The doctor's office, the 3 scales at the gym and my home scale all say something different. The one that says the least is the one I like the most. The skinny clothes section of my closet is my scale from now on. I am toasting to us all for the time that we can all put on our favorite jeans (short or long) while standing. CHEERS!!

ps can't wait until we workout, eat sweet potato pie and go to Ahuahu's wedding together.

I am still here and still going strong. I feel the cranks trying to slip in and take hold. Trying to spoil my mood and take my motivation. Well, I decided today I am not going to let my joy in life be altered by the cranky fairies. Today my smile is going to be my make up. My voice is going to be my favorite song, My stance is going to be my foundation. My joy is going to be my perfume. My body is going to be my balance. My spirit is going to be my power. My lemonade is going to be my sustenance.

    I am ready for TODAY!!!

I know it probably sounds corny, but so from the heart. Everyone have a blessed and wonderful day.

Today is day 12, my last day! I do feel like I could keep going...but commitments are coming up. Besides, I just wanted to get myself on track and I achieved that! Also my skin is starting to look "loose" again, so I need to give it time to snap back into place. ewwwww. I am down 1 -1/4 lb. since yesterday afternoon, not the 3 or 4 lb. difference I was hoping for. That cute guy has not asked me out again, but keeps sending me one line e-mails once or twice a day saying, 'Really busy. will fill you in soon. Thinking of you." Well, at least he's thinking about me, right? And I've got to give him points for keeping in touch when so many guys will just not call/write for days or even a week.

YOU - lucky girl, have access to pure cane syrup!! The three things Burroughs says you can use for sweetener are pure maple syrup, sorghum syrup (like molasses, but made from sorghum grain which grow in Indonesia), and fresh cane juice. We can't get pure cane syrup/juice on the mainland. Although I have found that Trader Joe's blend of maple/agave/cane syrups. Since Burroughs passed away, we have discovered agave syrup. Agave is a succulent, related to cacti and very similar to aloe; it is the plant tequila is made from. Agave grows all over the southwest and Mexico. The main idea is to use an unrefined plant sap with enough sugar and nutrients to be our main source of nutrition. I like to change syrups throughout my cleanse because they each have a different mixture of vitamins and minerals. Anyway...lemons and maple syrup it is...but I'd want to bring you some agave to try, too!!

So sorry about your foot! Yeah, trying to run to the bathroom for the SWF with a broken foot would really be unpleasant! Still, well done on the cleanse! Enjoy resting with your foot up as you sip your oj and enjoy your soup. Hopefully, you will be able to chop veggies sitting down to make your soup!! Stay off your foot! Best wishes for your transition to food and for healing your foot.

I like the idea of discipling yourself to weigh in ONE day per week. I think I will try that, post cleanse. Good work on another successful cleanse!!

    ----
Wanted to add: I did something amazing yesterday...I started working on...my MENDING pile! I repaired/altered FIVE , count 'em, 5!!! skirts! Woo-hooo! Just in time for fall and work starting again.
There is a joke that goes - a man took some pairs of underwear to his wife and said, "these don't fit any more, they're too small." But the next week, he found them folded and cleaned in his dresser drawer. So he took them out and gave them to his wife saying, "these don't fit any more, they're too small." Yet, the next week, there they were folded and cleaned in his dresser drawer again. He handed them to his wife again, reminding her that they didn't fit...what do you know, they ended up back in his drawer. So he took the underwear, put them on top of his wife's mending pile...and never saw them again!

But I have attacked the mending pile and made a dent!

Now the only thing we have to figure out is how to come up with airfare....
I do have the give the Olive Garden credit for adding to my soup repertoire, though. They have this creamy potato soup with kale and a little bit of italian sausage. I loved it so much I decided to be brave and add Kale to my veggie soups - now I LOVE it! Before, I had only had Kale as cooked greens, and I don't care for that texture, not in Kale, not in Spinach or other greens either. Then I made the Olive Garden potato and sausage soup at home - it was very easy and just as delicious at home.
Recipe: use the basic potato soup recipe that I have already posted on the soup recipe thread. After puree-ing/blending the main portion of the soup, and returning the potato and celery chunks, then also add 1/2 bunch of Kale, chopped to bite size portions. While the soup is cooking, pan fry one Italian sausage, let cool and chop or crumble into bite sized bits and add to the soup.
This is just a great "left-overs" soup, because I often have just ONE sausage left over from the pack. I often have 1/2 or 3/4 of an onion. Once I even used dehydrated mashed potato flakes (emergency rations) instead of real potatoes.
