If you have a 1/4 tsp.. you can use that.

if you have 1/8 then its a little less than that.

Hope that helps.
Good luck!
Thanks CityGal. That actually helps.

Thumbs up Re: 2010: What day are you on and how are you doing?

Day 9

Hello everyone. It's Day 9 for me, and the only reason I haven't posted since Day 2, is because I've had no power until yesterday. A storm knocked out the power last Sunday afternoon, and the electric company just got around to us -- we must have been the last ones out of 200,000 + to have had our power restored. Things weren't easy--they never are when the lights go out for an extended period, not to speak of the AC in sweltering 100 + degree weather. We had no Internet, no TV, and except for a battery operated radio and our cell phones (no, we don't have smart phones--too expensive), we had no connectivity to the outside world. We lost everything in our fridge. Not that it really mattered this time, since I'm on the cleanse and my hubby was out of town for part of it. Most of the freezer contents I was able to save with loads of dry ice. Seven days without electricity is a looooooong time! On the bright side was that I caught up on a lot of reading and it was really quiet in the house.
Despite the challenges of making do without; which incidentally makes me appreciate little things like being able to flip on a switch to see what time it is when it's dark out; the cleanse has been relatively easy this time around, and I've decided to go for another week. I love the results and the way I feel. My skin is brighter, my thoughts are clearer, and I'm not so sluggish. Although, I sleep less, but my energy is still up, and I'm able to exercise on a regular basis. My goal now is to make it 16 days, with next Saturday being my last day. We'll see....

Have a great Sunday fellow MCers!

Day 20!!!!! I really can't believe I've come this far. What started out as a "let's see if I can do 10 days" has turned into a true learning experience. I am so thankful for this board, without it I know I would not have lasted anywhere near this long. This experience has totally changed my mindset on food and health and I hope that a seasonal cleansing schedule will be in my future.

Day 6: I have been camping so have not been able to post since day 3. Wow! Day 4 was the worst (according to my family) I was soooooo crabby, I had no control over what made me angry! Day 5 my husband sat me down and told me that I had to quit. Made the rest of the camping trip fairly easily. The cucumbers and ripe tomatoes look so good. That seems to be all that I am cutting, oh and the onions. I love this time of year!! but the agony. I open the fridge and just stare at all the food!!
ok... on a serious gross note. My bm's. They are slimy and like huge chunks of skin. Is my colon shedding a layer? Lots of yellow. bummer some brown too.
My scale is going down, but my clothes are not getting any looser and I do not look thinner. Brain fog is definitely subsiding. Not hungry, can handle that but really strong cravings for suprisingly healthy food!
HAVE A FANTASTIC WEEK ALL!!! GOOD LUCK AT WORK!!!

Hello everybody. Well, Today is Monday, and I have decided that this is the day to start. I had my salt bath this morning. To my surprise, no movement, but I wonder if it is because I am using iodized sea salt. Peter, does that make any difference? I really want to stick through this, so I will live by this thread. I have tried several times to do this cleanse. I have not been successful. If I can just make it three days, I think I could make it. I've started a journal. I think a lot of it is mental. My body is telling me it has to actually "eat" food, but I want to show my body that it does not live by "food" alone. Wish me luck, and I'll post every day. Good or bad. It would be great if I had a "buddy" - someone who was actually going through it with me day by day. We could get each other's personal emails and report to each other. If anyone is interested, please let me know. I need all the help I can get. DMozart

Day 28. Today is my last day!! And I am so ready to go back to real food. I don't ever remember being this eager to quit before. The thing that kept me going was knowing how hard it is to find a good block of time with no social food obligations, so I knew I had to take advantage of it as long as I could. I lost another lb. yesterday for a total of 21. I'm hoping I can lose more again today and on oj day, too. My big challenge will be trying to maintain throughout the birthday weeks. I'm planning on having a lemonade as a meal substitute every once in a while, when I can. I get to go buy my oranges and veggies today!! Yippee!

Wow, I really get out of touch when cleansing - I didn't even know a hurricane (tornado?) had hit and caused so much damage - what part of the country are you in? Hard to believe that only 100+ years ago, everyone lived that way - without power. Glad the cleanse went smoothly for you. Good timing, lol! Best of luck going another week. The second week is much easier than the first.

It's so great to hear people's testimonials! Great job making it to day 20! Is today your last day or are you going to try for more?

So, I take it you didn't quit? It really does get easier. Day 5 is usually a good day for me...but it sounds like you had some serious detox going on - with your weird bms and all. Who knows what that was! I'm always fascinated when creepy stuff comes out of me - especially later on in the cleanse! Just shows that the cleanse is really working. Hopefully, with those eliminations, your crabbiness and "brain fog" will go completely away - that's usually how it works.
I was having the exact opposite problem - I was looking thinner and fitting into more and more "skinny" clothes - but the scale wasn't moving. I guess I shouldn't have complained - if I had to make a choice, I'd pick the clothes fitting over the scale behaving. The good news is that things usually even out in the end...and you always feel better for having done the cleanse - even if the results are not as outwardly noticeable as you'd hoped. Better to clean out your colon and avoid colon cancer than to be 10 lbs. lighter, right? Best of luck on the rest of your cleanse!

Welcome to the cleanse! Peter does not come on the board and answer questions...so you'll have to make do with us. People have used iodized salt in the past and had it work. Burroughs says, "Do not use ordinary iodized salt as it will not work properly." (pg. 21) But that's all the detail he gives on it. Regarding iodized salt, Peter says, "I recommend that you follow Burroughs' instructions exactly because I know that will produce great results for you. Get non-iodized sea salt." (pg. 139) Usually the reason the flush doesn't work is an improper salt to water ratio. But first...it's important to know that it takes 45 min - 1 hr. before it starts to work...have you given yourself that much time yet? The salt water is supposed to be the same specific gravity as your blood - that's how it fools your colon into letting the SWF just pass through you instead of being separated into salt and water. The thing is, that everyone has a unique body chemistry and your blood may just be saltier (heavier) than average. Increasing the salt to 2 ROUNDED tsps. instead of flat tsps. may just be enough to do the trick. If that's not enough, then move up to 2-1/4 tsp., 2-1/2 tsp. etc. until you find the right specific gravity to make it work. Usually people are successful when they just try moving it up to rounded tsps. (If you usually don't eat a lot of salt, you could try decreasing slightly, too.)
My hardest days are days 3 & 4. Most peoples' are days 1 & 2. But give yourself the mental boost of preparing for the worst for 4 days, just to keep yourself from getting discouraged if day 4 is a tough one for you, too.
Good luck ~ Happy cleansing!

Hi Lahontani. Thank you for answering my post so soon. Guess what? I did not give myself enough time, as you mentioned. I just had a cleansing, and boy, it works. So, I guess I'm safe with Iodized Sea Salt. I know reg. salt wont work. I felt hunger beginning to seak up on me, so I have had two glasses of lemonade. I have tried this cleansing several times, and I am determined to make it this time. I weigh 180 lbs., and I weighed that when I had my second child. I was diagnoised with BP three years ago. I have been placed on so many meds. I've lost count. In the last three years, I've gained 30 lbs. This has got to stop. Please, please, be my friend. Help me through this. Each time I have tried this, I make it until late at night. I can't sleep, and before I know it I'm eating. Since I am new, I don't have any "rights" so do anything. I would like to email you, but I don't know how. If you will send me an email to respond to this, maybe, we can connect. Would you mind help me, please. I really want to do this, and as far as my health, I really NEED to do this. DMozart (P.S. I see that you can send email messages using this site, and I received an email from someone about Walmart - go figure). please wait 2 seconds for an uncompressed image, or press Ctrl+F5 for original quality page

Hi "L" I am so happy for you. I think I am going to learn a lot from you. One thing I noticed is that at the end of you post, you are keeping up with your MC days. Well, I teach school. I am out for the summer. Teachers are due back the 17th of Aug. Therefore, I would like for the 17th of Aug. to be my last day. Really, I'd love to go to my birthday, (Aug.21), but with all the BM runnings to the bathroom, I don't have that luxury. I just can't "leave" my class. Is there a way to control your BM's? Maybe, by that time, I will? I have so many questions to ask you. I have got to re-read the book. Like mentioned b4, I've tried this several times, and I just gave up. I really had misplaced the book and ran across it while cleaning house. I thought, "hey, maybe since I'm out for the summer, I'll try this one more time". I found this website, and now you. DMozart
