Thread: 2010: What day are you on and how are you doing?

    MC2, Day 10:

I made it! Yippee!!!! I have to say, these past 10 days have really been some of the longest 10 days...mainly because I haven't been doing much outside of working and then going straight home. It is too hard and tempting for me to go out and meet friends. I am very proud of myself for making it this far and my co-workers "can't believe it", which makes me real really good. Anytime someone can set a goal and achieve that goal, you have to feel good. So keep up the good work everyone - it is totally worth it too miss a party or a fancy dinner here and there...you'll feel so much better at the end and your body will thank you!

Thanks for all of the support along the way - sometimes I don't think I could ever make it without this board.

    Good luck to all!

And, hell, the store will probably sell out of the stuff within the next couple days. But right now, I'm day-dreaming about homemade pizza with pesto and mushrooms. lol I hope I'm over the hump by tomorrow! What is it with stupid, stupid pizza?!
    Congrats on the weight loss!
Actually, homemade pizza with pesto and mushrooms doesn't sound like "stupid" pizza to me - it sounds great! (The standard pepperoni/cheese fiasco goes in my category fo "stupid" pizza). It sounds like I have stock in Safeway...but they used to sell these Safeway brand mini frozen pizzas - hors d'oeurves size - that were thin crust with pesto, tomatoes, onions, and just a little bit of feta cheese. They were wonderful! I don't know if they stopped making them, or if my store just stopped carrying them...

Yes! Stay on the cleanse through the cough!! I have found that when I'm on the cleanse and I catch something, I usually get a very mild, short-lived version of it. There have been times when I was sick and took 2 days of lemonade because it helps me detox out whatever was making me sick in the first place.

Day 25. Tomorrow is my last day. Am really, really looking forward to the soup! Am going to make the Chinese veggie soup that I posted on the veggie soup thread (the 2nd veggie soup thread). I also have a great recipe for Thai sweet potato soup I can't wait to try. My plan is to have soup, veggies, smoothies, and a little bit of sushi for my 9 days between cleanses. Hopefully, I won't gain any weight back...or very little!

    Good point!

And even LESS stoopid than COOKED pizza is the most yumilicious of all - RAW PIZZA!

OMG! I'm on day 11 now and I'm really starting to struggle now with food cravings. But what is concerning me is that it's not the usual cravings from having a toxin mobilisation such as last year's beef, chicken & pork days - it's craving RAW cheese and RAW chilli!

I blame myself of course - I treated my well intentioned junk food loving boyfriend to some raw nacho cheese and well you know the smells that emanate from the dehydrator are banned on a MC for a reason!

I can deal with people eating CRAP around me but when they start eating the most divine looking salads I just crumble!

I would quit but my tongue is very pale and still slightly coated. Maybe it won't take as long as I thought to clear - deepest joy!

TGIF Everyone This is the start of day 5 for me, day 3 & 4 were a bit hard, & was very hungry & a little scattered in the brain...? But am going to just take one day at a time, as that is the best I can do right now. It looks like you all are hanging in there & doing ok, we all have to remember that this time weather 10 days or more, it does go by fairly fast, like the last 6, 7 months for me it was a very difficult time for my son to be in Iraq, but now it is like a faded bad dream... i'm a little sleepy right now, but I know we all will be so much happier if we just stick this out & just do it!!!! Have a LEMONY Day

Only 9 days in between? How long are you planning on going next time? I have to quit at 10 days this time - too much social stuff going on next weekend. But I needed to go longer - it's clear that my allergies will be impossible over the summer if I don't, so I'm planning to start again in about 2 weeks. And hoping I don't binge and gain the weight back in between (I have great intentions ). As much as I'm convinced that I'm doing this for my health and not so much for weight loss - the weight loss is a really good thing. It will be nice to wear a bathing suit this summer and not feel so totally uncomfortable the whole time. I'll have to check out your soup recipe!

Well, I'm glad I decided to leave the matter of my end date open, because this morning I absolutely did not feel like stopping yet. Which is yet another first. I've had a couple of other cleanses where I felt I could keep going, but never before one where I gave myself an open choice and didn't have any desire to stop. So I'm going to take it one day at a time for today, tomorrow, and Sunday, which is the last possible day I can do this time around.

I wish I could just pick up at this place on my next cleanse! (Sigh.) I love where I'm at, but I hate that it'll take another 18 days to get here again, LOL.

Day 26 - my LAST day!!! Yippee! Lost another lb. yesterday, too! Really bad B.O. today.
Only 2 more SWFs to go!! My last big challenge - that stupid pizza party at the staff mtg. today. Wish me luck!

So glad to hear that your son is back from Iraq safe and sound! What a huge relief! And thanks for keeping things in perspective for us - 10 - 30 days of drinking lemonade is a pretty mild challenge in comparison.

This is not a usual thing for me, and I do not recommend it. I posted my inner debates about doing it, earlier in April...and also my history of cleansing. So, just to quickly summarize - when I first started the MC, I tried to do a 10 day cleanse once a month - this ended up not working for me. Now I do a 21 - 28 day cleanse once per season (as recommended) and that works for me very well. BUT - this time I have 1) finals the first few days of May, 2) a big social obligation (tournament/faire/farewell bash) mother's day weekend, and 3) a weekend trip to the little town where an ex-boyfriend lives. I needed to come off the cleanse and have a big pot of soup already made, so that I didn't neglect food and could easily just keep dishing myself up something nourishing whenever my head emerged from the books/computer (otherwise I suddenly realize I'm starving hungry and resort to fast food). I need to be eating solid foods well before the mother's day weekend deal - because they are serving tri-tip, and I would never be able to digest it too early after the cleanse. BUT - I absolutely want to be looking my best in case I run into the ex the weekend of the 23rd. SOOOO...I'm making an exception - going off the cleanse for 9 days. Then back on for just 10. 10 days doesn't seem to do much for me anymore as a total cleanse, but I am hoping that as an appendix to this MC, that it will keep me from gaining weight back, and also keep my skin glowing.

LOl - yes! I think that motivation is a big part of my decision to do the "shortie" 10 day cleanse again so soon! Consider me an experiment in this regard.
Newbies - please remember that I have done this alot and feel that I have a stable foundation of "pure" cleanses from which to launch my self experiments. I do NOT recommend doing this on your first or second time trying the MC !!!

This made me go back through my MC journal and look at what I've done so far. I surprised myself and found I'm on my 6th MC (I thought it was my 5th). Looks like I did do 10 days once a month at first - didn't know there was any issue with doing them close together at the time. I just felt so good when I was on it, but didn't feel like I had done enough and couldn't wait to start again. But it's hard to plan a longer cleanse where some social thing doesn't get in the way. At least I took a whole 47 days off this time, but I just couldn't find more than 10 days in my schedule for this one.

I know people don't recommend doing it close together (and I went back through the log and read your personal history on that too), but I still haven't seen anything that really explains why people think that 4, 10 day cleanses close together is somehow bad for you, while one 40 days cleanse is great. I do think it's a preference and may be more difficult to do one way vs the other. I would think 4, 10s would not give you as good results as one 40, but I don't see what it hurts either. And it has the benefit that during the breaks you get some vitamins and protein in your system.
    MC1 - 10 days, MC2 - 11 days, MC3 - 11 days, MC4 - 16 days, MC5 - 23 days, MC6 - 5 days, MC7 - 11 days, MC8 - 24 days, MC9 - ?

    Congrats local10002! Enjoy that OJ!

Lahontani, you're right of course that my pizza would be healthier. But what the heck is it with pizza? Whether it's crap or good stuff, no matter how it's made or what combinations of ingredients used, it's the biggest temptation for me. In fact, that is what I had before starting my MC as my farewell-to-food treat. lol Thanks for posting about the veggie soup thread, I had forgotten about it! Will have to go look for some carrotless recipes.

karenC, nice to see you're hanging in there too! Hope day 5 is going well for you!

mtmouse, that is awesome! How long will you take to break the fast? When I did my 20-day, I tried to break it like a 10-day, and that was pain I don't ever want to have again! Seriously, I would choose childbirth over that. lol I think I have a little bit of fear of going longer right now because it's so hard to control myself once I'm on the road back to eating solids and so hungry.

Day 5 here and I'm STILL a little hungry. ugh This is the longest I've had to go dealing with hunger. It better disappear fast or there's no way I'll go past 10 days!

    MC1, 10 days
    MC2, 20 days
    MC3, 10 days
    MC4, 7 days
    MC5, 10 days
    MC6, started 7/9/10

Day 5 too (halfway!) Feeling the same way myself. Seems like every time I've done this before I was more in the zone by day 4. I do feel a little better than yesterday I guess. I hope I wake up feeling better tomorrow or I don't know if I will make it through the weekend.

And what's with this! I seem to be looking at the board every half hour just to see if someone has written anything. Talk about needy.
