Thread: 2010: What day are you on and how are you doing?

Thanks, Lynda. I am feeling much better today now. I went for a walk at lunchtime and my aches have improved. I will try to increase the fluids as you suggested. Normally I drink 6-7 10 oz glasses, just yesterday I couldn't' get it down because of the migraine. Onward and upwards :-)

    AHUAHU:

Thanks for your response. To be honest I just felt so great while on the cleanse that I kind of miss it. It will be interesting to see if, as you say, I don't get that same reaction this time.
I'm not a real raw-food guy or a strict vegetarian, but I do try to follow that mind set.
The following plan made the transition to the LC more gentle:

    Ease-In Day 1 – Living Food Diet

To do the Living Food Diet, you only need to eat live foods. Simply remove processed foods, meat and dairy from your diet. Enjoy shopping for, and eating interesting fruits and vegetables. Savor the rich flavors and textures. Be sure that you don’t go too heavy on fruits as they are high in sugar. A 60/40 balance of vegetables to fruits is a good guideline.
Ease-In Day 2 – Juicing, Blending, Soups and Broths

This step preps your body for a liquid diet and delivers macro nutrients more quickly to your bloodstream. By breaking down the foods to liquids we can more readily take in the nutrients from the food. Fruit and Vegetable Juicing is very enjoyable. There are endless combination’s of tasty juicing recipes. Blending is equally enjoyable. Green smoothies are like drinking a glass of healing. If you do not have a juicer, you can make soups or broths.
    Ease-In Day 3 – Orange Juice

Manually or electrically juice enough oranges to make 2 liters of Orange Juice, mixed with water (to taste). Sometimes I find it hard to get the calories I need through the day and so I add some Maple Syrup to increase my caloric intake.

Beginning of day 4. Last of my tough days...or am I just jinxing myself by saying that. Was weepy this morning. How bizarre the mood swings can be! Last night I was full of joy and counting my blessings...today nobody loves me, I'm broke, I have no future, waaah, waah, waah. Sometimes I wish I had a cattleprod to goad myself into a more positive direction. Well, as long as I stick to the cleanse I AM going in a positive direction, so I'd better stick to it!! My stomach looks larger and even more bloated...don't feel bloated. It is so weird! I am my own science experiment.

What? No one's going to forget how to make salad while you are on the cleanse? I tell myself that all the time...like that old joke: Why don't they have ice cubes in "x"? (for "x" insert the name of any country/city/state against which you have an ethnic bias). Because the old lady with the recipe died. Sometimes when I start craving a certain food, I just tell myself that the old lady with the recipe isn't going to die. Good work on making it to your longest cleanse ever!

Is this detoxing? I was only able to get down 3 glasses of lemonade and one glass of water and one mint tea yesterday because of the migraine.
Different people's bodies manifest the symptoms of disease differently. Some people will have mood swings; some people will have aches and pains. You are definitely detoxing - hang in there! When you break through this, you are going to be amazed at how GOOD you feel. I agree with Otis that you really do need to force yourself to drink all the lemonade. It will help you get through the painful detox faster. If you can't stand the thought of the lemonade, please remember that you can try different "flavors" like limeade, or agave instead of MS, or alter the amount of cayenne. Some people just love the cayenne, and it does make the detox more effective, but I always have to cut my cayenne down to a more manageable level for me, or I'd never be able to make it through the cleanse.

I will be back in this thread either in early December (short cleanse beginning during Hanukkah - after I've had enough latkes! - to end before Christmas/New Year's) or in late January for longer cleanse after no Jewish holidays in the way.
Congratulations on your successful cleanse! Please stay on the board for a few days to let us know how the transition days are going! January is always a big month for cleansing...probably a lot of us will be back then; I know I will. If we don't see you till then, have a blessed Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur!

Read journals and blogs about different experiences. Have MC pdf saved as a favorite but it's not the same as holding a book. I discovered this board at about 4 days in.
I don't see why I can't have my tea as it says "laxative". The main ingredient is senna; it is named dieter's tea. It tastes terrible, acts as a laxative... Not sure why I don't have to go at night? Guess I can try another tea.
Had zero PMS this month. Does anyone know how hormones react to the MC? Our glands must be benefiting from detoxification too.
Good thing you found this site! There are more and more "Master Cleanse" websites and blogs that are just full of mis-information. This is the original MC website and the only one that has moderators who are trained to know what IS and IS NOT the true Master Cleanse. Some of us on here will do little modifications now and again...but we usually post that we are doing a modification so that the newbies will know it's not strictly kosher. If we don't, then one of the moderators or senior members will usually pipe up and add that that modification is not part of the MC and caution people against it. About the tea - the thing is that different companies will put together their own blends and name it whatever they want. If your tea has mostly senna, then that's good and POSSIBLY could be used. It depends on what else is in it - you definitely want no caffeine. But if any herbs in there are specifically added for weight loss or detox, then there's a chance they could interact with the cleanse in a negative way. For example, the regular flavor smooth move has: 1080 mg of senna, and 920 mg. of everything else combined (which is licorice root, fennel, orange peel, cinnamon, coriander, and ginger). Check the ingredients on your tea box and see how they compare. If there's an ingredient you've never heard of, look it up on line and see what it is and what it's used for. If it's a medicinal herb - you might want to steer clear of that brand of tea while on the cleanse.
PMS - the Master Cleanse often brings on your period earlier than usual and makes it go much easier and faster than usual, too. This is just the body being clear. I only have PMS when I have not been eating right or not drinking enough water. When I get PMS, I know I only have myself to blame, because - surprise! - it's not SUPPOSED to hurt. PMS is just another symptom telling you that your body needs to detox. As for hormones - like everything else in your body, the cleaner your system is, the better everything works. Hormones are prompted and released into your blood stream based on the right ratio of chemical reactions needed to trigger them. It's a never ending cycle of chemical reactions in your body and brain, that process everything better when there are no toxins to muddle the chemical formulas.

We'll see...I'm just wrapping Day 5, so maybe after Day 7?
In the meantime, my store opens day after tomorrow! I'm so excited.
You have a lot going on right now! A wedding in a month? Congratulations! And your store opening, and doing the cleanse! You're on a roll, girl! Regarding the emotional detox - it's not necessarily a purging. You can re-visit some of the old regrets and wrongs, and cry through them. I'm not sure you actually get rid of them...but then, I still have some old stored fat to get rid of, so who knows? Maybe when I reach my goal weight I will no longer carry around any emotional baggage.
Great name, thanks for sharing it's meaning!

Oh, I'll be here, but more likely on the other threads. I'll pop in this one and give a look-see if I feel I can contribute anything.

May you all be blessed with a good and sweet year!

Day 11 - WOW!! I really appreciate all the input I am getting. You think I would be a pro after doing this 9 times, but live and learn.

Otis -- Thanks for the info about the tea. Looks like I got it wrong and had been using peppermint tea as a detox for some reason. Anyway, I will drink that Smooth Move Senna that I have again, but not steep it too long and see how it works tomorrow morning -- if it gets me up at 5am again with cramps. I will drink a peppermint tea for dinner at night though.

Lahontani -- ditto to what I wrote above. Yes, I have the books ("The MC"and "Lose Weight.....") I had read them, but maybe my comprehension isn't too good. My husband just left today for Mass. and he drank the orange juice on the plane and said it was good. I told him on the phone that we had it wrong, and that he could drink OJ and have brother and some veggies tomorrow. He was happy about that because his sister had made some nice vegetable soup for him. Thanks for the counsel and all the good advice.

Margie5125 -- Yes, I am trying to drink a glass of water between lemon drinks. I had a late start today as I got back from the airport at 10am so started my SWF then. It's 7pm and I have 4 glasses to go of lemonade.

I finally worked out today -- walked 2 miles. It feels great and I want to do it daily.

I'll go to the library tomorrow and check out if they have Zumba VDOs.

Glad to chat with you all and be part of this wonderful Master Cleanse group.

I am on day five. I am having trouble with acid reflux. Will it go away?

    Default End of day 16

Made it through today pretty good. Debating if I should keep this up? I've lost weight and want to lose more but it sounds like I'm doing this wrong. Going to pick up the book for next time as plan to do this in January. Even though I drank the pulp, used the wrong tea and didin't poop in the evening, I feel really good and cleansed. I feel capable of making it a few moe days. Any opinions?? Happy Friday and labor day weekend.

I just finished my 5th Master Cleanse yesterday. I only went 10 days this time and that seemed enough - my tongue was pink. I ended it with a gallbladder/liver flush and it really helped. I noticed I was passing gallstones on this cleanse and went forward with the flush with my doctor's blessings and advice. He was amazed at how energetic I was. I've just started eating (vegan/organic) and somehow food takes my energy down.

I had no hunger/apetite on the entire 10 days of this cleanse. I felt as if I could have fasted on water only. Has anyone ever experienced this? I was utterly disgusted by the taste of maple syrup and I usually love it! I wasn't sure what was going on - I just kept on going drinking the minimum number of glasses of lemonade with minimal maple syrup.

I'm moving on to a vegan diet. I think sticking to a diet is far more difficult than cleansing.

    Thanks for reading.

    Blessings : )

I have experienced acid reflux going away when I drink peppermint tea and extra water.

Hope that helps. Hang in there!

I do allow myself the option that if I wake up and feel like I am done I can stop. This has not happened yet! Waking up and wanting to eat is not the same thing as being ready to stop. So food does not factor into the decision. Getting back to food would be great, I would love a fresh salad but not going to end the cleanse for one. Guess what? That salad WILL still be there when it's truly time for me to end my cleanse. My cleansing is more important than eating food. Just remind yourselves of that when you are having a hard day. YOU control your destiny! Food does not control you. We are all doing something tremendous for ourselves that a lot of people can't fathom doing. Be really, really proud of this!

Congratulations Lynda, on your fantastic achievement!!!! I totally agree with you, "cleansing is more important that eating food". That is keeping me focused.
