Tricia, um yeah, the swf can be fun to predict but what I think is worse is the lax tea and trying predict that during a workday. I usually give the swf up to 3 hours. What helps is when I drink about 16 oz of water about 30 min after doing the swf. It's like roto-rooter. So practice on the weekend.

Burroughs did talk about herbal teas but not during the cleanse. Only lax tea and "occassional" peppermint tea.

I have been getting better just a nagging dry cough now.
I was curious that it said on the site no herbal teas except for peppermint. I read Stanley Burrough's book and he said herbal tea is OK. Also in his book he said you can use an herbal laxative so I have been doing that and sometimes doing salt water flush. Any thoughts or advice?
When I did the salt water flush- although alot flushed out soon after (within 2 hours)- I had bursts of flush all day which makes me nervous to try again on the morning of a workday.
    great there is this site.

Awww, Qwerty. *Hug* Hang in there, it does get better.

You know, when I feel like my life is out of control I cleanse. No one can interfere with it and I control it completely. If someone gives me grief because they say "it's unhealthy, you're losing too much weight, whine, whine, whine" I snicker inside and think to myself "Yeah that's right!!! I'M' doing this, I'm controlling it so say what you want I won't be detered.". lol I know what I'm doing and I'm an expert at me. The cleanse also helps hugely with depression and gives you back a batch of confidence. You're doing a good thing for yourself and when the depression goes, the weight starts coming off and you feel mentally ready to take on the world things will start changing for you.

    p.s. Preparation is good.

I'm already going through depression. Probably because I have a lot going on and I was using food to numb it and give me sugar highs. So no sugar highs for 2 days. No caffeine highs. No icecream binges. I mean, in the same day (last week) I let a new guy go even though I hoped it would still work out somehow...I liked him more than I let on. So simple yet so complicated. No turning back now. And that same night someone basically stole my cat. (2situations completely unrelated!) So tonight, it's all sinking in as I'm obsessing about listening to depressing music. Guy gone. Cat gone. Guy gone. Cat gone. I cycle between the 2 figuring which I have a better chance of getting back.

    Whatever. Somehow I'm still ready.

I also hope the MC brings my period on as it has in the past. I haven't had one in 3 months..maybe it'll help get rid of this hormonal depression thing even though I'm not even 30.

Goondu, Way to get back on the horse! Ugh winter eczema is the pitts. I have a friend who goes through that. Are you signed up for the Jan 1st annual cleanse?

I read this board to get inspired & warm up. Will be hydrating & preping for the next couple of day.

Talking Re: 2010: What day are you on and how are you doing?

Hi All, I am on day 19 post cleanse. I had to relate my experience because it seems incredible.
I started this cleanse because I wanted to try a natural solution to ending a depressive episode before changing meds. I was tired (anemia) had no ambition. have let my house go and my husband and teenagers fend for themselves while I just layed on the couch and watched TV. I've tried everything to increase my energy with no avail.
It has been 19 days since my cleanse and I am a different person. I have hardly watched TV. My house is getting cleaned again. I am dancing and singing around the house again. And the biggest change I didn't expect is my anemia is gone. 2 months before the cleanse I had blood work done and also 2 days after. when I went to the Dr. She was amazed to say the least. I have been battling anemia for at least 6 mo. Suddenly, it was gone.
My cravings for junk are gone. There are so many benefits from this that I can't name them all.

Please stick to the cleanse. It is extraordinary!

Peter, Thank you so much for your book. It is a lifesaver.

    Adco,

Did you get the big thing of salt and it looks gray? Or the blue one with smaller crystals? It would say Iodine if it contained it. I don't believe TJs sells any salt with iodine.

I'd be right there with you if I didn't have family stopping in here and there through Jan 1st. I'm ready. Gosh am I ready.

I slept in today so I'm just now having my SWF. It's not that bad, really. I pretend I'm sipping broth, like soup and it goes down fine. So far okay but I almost boiled water for my Sat. morning coffee which I very much look forward to but realized, wait, I'm in detox!! I'll continue to post as I need tons of support.

My salt is Trader Joe's pure Sea Salt, but the label doesn't say non-iodine, should it? Or, if the only ingredient is Sea Salt, is it okay?? Thanks.

    smontani,

Congratulations!! That's such a big deal!

The cleanse is *magical* when you stick with it. Try using limes in place of the limes for a change up. Pretend it's a margarita. lol

    You're almost there!!

I can't believe I'm going to make it. I have tried the fast in the past and only made it to day 5. Day 6 was my hardest so far. Had a bad stomach pain on my right side, had all kinds of aches and pains, headache, and low energy. I had bad headaches for the first few days, which I did take asprin with caffine (i know not good), but i couldn't function without. After day four, the headaches were less and less, but still present. Today I have no aches or pains, no headache, and I have plenty of energy. My allergies and sneezing pretty much stopped the 2nd day. I am so amazed at this because, I was so congested with sneezing and going thru tissues for months and months. This is a huge relief for me. I have lost 8 lbs in 8 days so far. I am very happy with the fast, but am somewhat bored with it at this point and can't wait to eat again!!!!

Good luck to everyone and keep it up................

Did they say gallstones or gall polyps?

I don't see how the cleanse could cause gallstones, honestly - but I'm not a doctor. "Lemons" actually soften stones in the gallbladder and helps move them out naturally. You should drink 12 oz of water with 1 full lemon squeezed in every day. Then do the gallbladder cleanse. You can get rid of up to 2000 stones. I've never done it because I'm a coward when it comes to being possibly queasy but do a search here to find what others have posted.

p.s. with todays' typical diet, most people in the U.S have gallstones to one degree or another.

It certainly could be coincidence, but I am wondering if anyone has heard of there being a connection with anyone else. I tried several alternative medicine recipes to flush the stones but it did not work. And now almost everything I eat causes another gallbladder attack. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Actually Peter sells one (I think) that's 32 ounces and has "lemon brigade" on it. Or just find one at Target that is BPA free.

One thing I'd like to ask: I used to fill 1L water bottles with the lemonade to carry around with me, but since hearing about how toxins can be leeched from reusing water bottles I've gone out and bought one of those stainless steel ones. The only problem is that it carries about 2 cups of liquid only. I can't seem to find a large plastic bottle that is made from a safe reusable plastic.

Any ideas where I may be able to find one?

    Thanks and happy cleansing!

And there you have it people. A non paid endorsement for the cleanse. lol This is based on a true life experience. STICK WITH IT! The cleanse is amazing. You're not paying hundreds of dollars for a "diet" that doesn't work. You're pulling your body into the shop for a tuneup.

Coffee: I'm elated to hear of your experience and so happy for you. It must be such a relief to feel as well as you do. I was in a similar situation years ago with the couch and not being able to do much due to a thyroid problem that I didn't know I had. I dropped 23 lbs in 23 days on my first cleanse and was on my way to a better understanding. But just like a car needs to be tuned up every 3000 miles, Burroughs made it clear we could do the cleanse up to 4x a year.

What an eye opener it is when we're done cleansing. We really don't need "all - that - food" and the choices we've made are horrifying when we look back.

    Onward to health!

Day 2: Yay.. I made it past my first day. Yesteday I felt pretty hungry but I kept drinking my lemonade and was fine.
Today, I'm experiencing something different. After my SWF on day 1, I had several eliminations, mostly clear watery. Today's post SWF eliminations were much different. They were more of them but also more dark flourescent yellow color. If yesterday's was clear and today was yellow, what is going on? I have stuck precicely with the program. I do feel something is happening and working.

I know day 2 and 3 are supposed to be the hardest but I'm not feeling like wanting to eat like I did on day 1 so I'm thankful for that but it's still pretty early in the day. I will check back in later tonight or tomorrow morning.

    Thanks!
