Sim you just made me so happy I almost cried.
First of all, I cannot agree more about the 'denying what you want' and then completely giving up on raw (and healthy at all). Thats why I'm doing the Master Cleanse... because I was raw vegan for about a month or two (with occassional cooked meals) and suddenly I gave in to a silly craving (I can't remember if it was meat or cheese... or maybe candy?) and it all went downhill from there. I ate junk for a week straight, telling myself this was it, my final goodbye to those old foods I would LIVE on. I hate how I felt, and I didn't even enjoy the food... it was just something easy and familiar. It had almost no taste.
I want the cleanse to bring me back to a healthy diet and lifestyle, and I'm almost nervous about eating again because I don't want to fall back onto old habits... but reading your post really made me feel excited about eating again, and I can't wait to recondition myself to healthy comfort foods and maybe even get myself to enjoy flax
Anyway, if you were here I'd be giving you a really big hug. Your words made me feel so much better and more confident. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!
And, for the reason I came to this board in the first place..... I have a quetion about flax seeds. Are they an acquired taste? I really used to love chips, tortillas and bread, and although I don't want to depend on them by any means I think that having some will make an easier transition for me (plus its nice to have a taco now and again!). So far I've used them in one chip recipe, but there was very few ingredients and the flax seeds dominated. I couldn't eat them... I ended up putting them in the compost! I enjoyed flax seeds in only one meal that I know of, and they were in a tortilla of a taco I had at Pure Food and Wine in NYC. And I looked at the recipe for it... there's a ton of other stuff besides flax in there (also, I didn't eat the tortilla by itself). Is it possible that I may just need to mask the taste, or do you think I might actually ENJOY flax one day? The same goes for hemp seeds lol. I don't want to depend on either but I would like to at least enjoy them.
