    Hi Girls,

I know it's been a while for me!! I wish they would get a raw food show on the food network!! I have been watching Iron Chef and it inspired me to come up with something new....soooo here it is!!

    Cream of Squash Soup!!!

As you all know, I just throw things in w/o measuring, so can't help there, but it was something like this:

    2 peeled yellow squash
    1/2 gala apple
    1/2 cup? almond milk
    1/4 maybe of macadamian nuts
    sliver of yellow onion
    bit of water
    cinnamon
    nutmeg
    ginger
    curry powder
    sea salt

I blended it to warm and I am sitting enjoying my second cup!! Very fall tasting!

Speaking of the food network, does anyone know of any good raw food magazines? I've seen some e-newsletters and some plain paper newsletters, but I'm curious if there are any glossy magazines out there about the raw food lifestyle. I've looked, but can't find one.

Wouldn't that be great about the colorful raw food magazines with recipes and vibes of consciousness that you get from the MC and being raw...it would be such an inspirational magazine with an herbal medical section.
    I wish that magazine existed.

    Hi all!

I've been out of town (and the country) for an extended vacation and am thrilled to be getting back to my home-prepared raw foods!

TeePee, your soup sounds yummy! I don't have yellow squash at home but I have zucchini, so I just might make that this evening. Slightly warm sounds good to me, LOL--it's only 62 here in my home office! (We bought a new woodstove this summer and have only recently realized that it's so well insulated at the back (facing my office) that the heat doesn't come back this way!

But for the record, and especially for Res: I just tried Ani Phyo's sun-dried tomato no-bean hummus, and it's fantastic! I ate a lot of real hummus while on my trip, and this is a very nice substitute. I don't have any crackers made yet so I had it with celery and carrots, but I can tell it would be a great cracker dip. Anyway, my body is thanking me for coming back to raw.

Hope everyone is having a terrific day!

    hi mindU

Kim chi....yum! That's the one i bought...love it! Can you eat too much of this? I finished off a jar in a day...could not stop eating it! I've also tried saurkraut and salad delite i think it's called...much milder, but good....but the kim chi is my favorite. i just mixed it with a little saurkraut if it was too spicy.

Yes, kim chi is great! I actually started "kinda" making my own by throwing some veggies back in the jar with the leftover brine when it got low. Since it's constantly fermenting, it should techinically become kim chi eventually...or at least be extra favorful veggies. I don't think there is any harm in eating too much of it so long as it doesn't give you any troublesome gastro symptoms. It sure is addictive, especially if you like spicy food!

Now that I'm coming back to the land of the living (was out sick) this sounds amazing and you are the quintessential TASTE TESTER and I love you for it. Time to dump the chicken soup...

I need to catch up when I get back - running out the door.

    Love to all!

Glad to have you back, Res (though I'm barely back myself, LOL)!

Regarding the hummus recipe, I decided that the next time I make it I'll try using yellow summer squash instead of zucchini, so it would *look* more like hummus. But there aren't going to be any of those around here now for a long time, so then I got the idea of using a yellow winter squash, like butternut--because that should give not only color, but maybe even a more starchy bean-like texture. I have some fresh, but I also have some frozen organic chunks, and they will be my next attempt. I'll keep you posted!

Well I wonder if we could use Pumpkin (which is in abundance right about now)?

I have my zucchini and I'm getting ready to make up a batch for the "short work week" YAY! Thank God for Thanksgiving. lol

Side note: Does anyone besides me color their hair? I found a non toxic healthy hair color that covers gray (started going gray when I was 27 ). It's called Naturtint and it's cheapest @ www.iherb.com. These iherb people get your order out FAST. I've ordered from them for a few years and have "never" had a problem and love their prices. Check out the 54 oz of Virgin Coconut oil. I can't find a better price anywhere. Also - they don't rip you off on shipping and I don't think I pay tax.

I hope everyone is doing well today.

    Love,
