This sounds like a great idea. This is day 5 of my 3rd MC and I plan to go 30 days before ending. After completing this cleanse, I should be able to go 1 month raw.

I may be going about this the wrong way, but I plan to list all the great dishes I enjoy eating and search for that fruit or veggie that resembles it in taste and duplicate it as much as possible.

Of course, I still have 25 days to figure out how I will succed in the RAW world, but I'm grateful for this site. It allows me to learn from others as they experiment.

Oooh, I just love this discussion! Sim, I know you will reach all the people who truly need to be reached! You have such a knack for bringing light to those people's worlds that need it the most. You are an angel!!

I hope in some small way, I am "planting the raw seed" in some of my 1st grade students; who without fail, ask me daily, "What did you have for lunch, Miss?" And of course my reply, "A tomato and an avocado"! "And what did you drink?" ...water, always, always water, children! These are the biggest suppporters of McD's, BK and KFC. And sugar-laden soft drinks. The more colors in the drink, the better. But there is always health class and the unit on healthy eating. They are the impressionable youth. Maybe some of it will rub off when they are older and living a better life because their first grade teacher infuenced them so much!!!

It is terrible that the packaged food industry is making so much money to kill us. And the marketing aimed at our youth is just as bad.

OKAY, RAW FOODIES, we have our work cut out for us!! How are we going to save the world?

This is such a serious issue and part of me smiled while reading and part of me didn't. My brow was probably furrowed. I would never pretend to know it all - but I did go through a very "money tight" era when my kids were growing up - a long long era. So part of what I said about trying to take a little and make it go a long way was from experience. Children don't want alfalfa sprouts for lunch or dinner - they want something more that takes away the hunger.

A lot of young ( and older) parents don't know much about nutrition the way we're researching now. To them it's a meal with meat/potatoes/salad/veg/dessert. You know, the FDA's basic food groups included. If parents can do all that at one meal they'll go for whatever the cheapest way to do it will be. Oh, I could go on and on but I won't... I just feel so bad for the people who are stuck eating crap because either it's all they know or they can't afford the good stuff. I basically knew the difference but my hands were tied - so you do the best you can with what you have with the kids as the #1 priority. I remember when I used to think it was a "treat" to take my boys to MC'Ds for breakfast. We were only able to go about 4 times a year but it was still a big deal because it meant that we were "eating out". I was going to shut up a minute ago and there I went again... moving out of the really bad memories...

So - aikenjoi congrats on getting your dehydrator! lol What recipe books do you have? Those at the top of the list are:

    Ani Phyo
    Alissa Cohen
Cornbleet (can't remember her first name)
    Matt Amsden
    Victoria Butenko -
There are a bunch of others too - but any of these are a good start.

Sim: Where are you "hosting" the photo you're trying to post? Try Photobucket.com. Upload your picture to their website and then copy the entire "http" address they provide after you upload it. Use this little icon above to paste the http address into. You can add a whole BUNCH of pictures that way.

I haven't tried the crepes yet and would love to. I've been a bit lazy lately and have eaten mostly salads and marinated kale, pizza and onion bread. Buckwheat groats are sprouting to dehydrate for Buckwheat Krispies. I think I might make some Not Tuna from Cornbleets recipe. AND I love my Spirulizer. I used the rest of the beets. So beautiful.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday.

    Love you all,

Sim: You're so right about "educating" people about health. I thought about this deeply when Teepee said "how are we going to save the world?" I don't know if I have a touch of melancholy today or what but my heart was so heavy reading that question and feeling like I want to do something but not knowing exactly how. One person at a time?

My 2nd son did the cleanse with me in July and he has been influenced and knows how well he feels when he eats ALL raw. He did so for almost 2 weeks. His birthday is today and we celebrated last night with dinner out. He mentioned how well he feels eating raw and how not well he felt last night. lol He's on a trip over the weekend and stated how badly he wants to get back to raw when he comes home. So - I suppose we do our best to influence who we can. I trust that other opportunities will open. Oh, I did go off on an Organic tirade at work and had a few people standing around listening. I'm the official coffee maker in the morning at work. Now they see me make a pot but I bring my own organic coffee and make it at my desk. I suppose that too is a seed planted in their minds. Funny thing is I'm still figuring it out myself.

    Love,
