WOW! I checked my pickled ginger this morning and it's fabulous! It's absolutely as good as the nasty store-bought stuff, but using good vinegar and no food coloring.

Mine isn't as sweet as the commercial stuff, but it's hotter, which we love! I can't wait to have it on my nori rolls for lunch. Yum!

Hi Peanut! Good to see you. Glad you're liking New York.

KellyJane: You still have to break the cleanse correctly.
I'll be in England in August. My first visit. It will be brief but meaningful to me. Maybe I can pick your brain on few "Cotswolds" questions? What part of England are you in?

Kathy: Which ginger recipe out of the 3 did you make? Or was it 2 I just finished my last nori roll - ran out of Nori sheets, hence the link.

    Love,

I made the "complicated" one, with the blended and strained beets and raisins. It wasn't hard.

I also julienned my ginger. I tried using the scraper, but I couldn't decide which direction to scrape in and I decided my fingers were in more danger than even with my mandoline, so I used the mandoline tiny julienne cutter and it worked fine. Of course, the mandoline never gets the last quarter-inch of stock, so I had to hand-cut the rest. But I at least survived to tell the tale, LOL!

It's almost lunchtime, too! I'm going to have my nori rolls soon!

I made the ginger nori rolls and took them to work. My employees are not exactly into trying new foods. But, three of them tasted my rolls and they all said they were great! I may make converts yet.

I saw my work buddy that did a 30 day cleanse this past month. He looks fabulous. He lost 35 lbs and said he feels like a different person. I'm so proud of him. Alot of folks have asked what he did and he's sharing the book and this website.

I bought some baby bellas today and will try marinating them. I haven't done the pickled ginger yet, but will soon.

PB - glad you dropped in. The first job didn't work out? I'm glad to hear you're happy up there.

Sim - hope your Dad is doing better.

Good Morning everyone 8.39am from a pleasant morning in England

Thankyou for responding so quickly to my thread, I think I will do the cleanse as long as I can as I go to Spain on 2nd July, although I would like to be eating veggie by then so hopefully I will be able to do a 15 day cleanse....yippee...and get rid of all these toxins in my body

Can you eat any type of pasta??? or does it have to be completely raw veggie after the days of breaking the fast

Speak to you all soon, have a good cleanse.

By the way I feel great this morning day 2.

    K x

KellyJane: As far as "raw" and pasta goes, if you make fake pasta out of zucchini or a raw veggie you can call it "pasta". If you're strickly Raw, then nope.

Kathy: I have a bunch of ginger that I picked up at an asian market. They had a mountain of the stuff and very inexpensive compared to the grocery stores that have this tiny bin of ginger. I'm going to make the ginger this weekend.

I tried making bagels out of sprouted oats because I couldnt' find rye berries (which I would've preferred). They're still dehydrating and look "interesting".

Thanks for the news, Res. Two excellent choices!!! Congratulations, mtmouse and Sim!! http://www.freesmileys.org/emo/gen014.gif You would have been my choices, had I been doing the choosing.

It's such a busy time for me; sorry to be so infrequent. So much to tell! I bribed my students to come to class early tonight, so I could leave early and see, hear, meet Jennifer Cornbleet! I am now the proud owner of a signed book and DVD. She's so cute. Very petite and sweet. Laughs a lot during her demonstration. She showed how to use the spiralizer with zucchini and also how to use a regular vegetable peeler for wider "noodles" if you don't have the spiralizer yet (me). I'm adding this book to my collection now and hoping to find time to use it soon. Also hoping to find time to make the nori rolls. So happy to see pictures and hear stories from mtmouse and Res on how to improve the recipe! And congrats to Ginger for using the rolls to entice her employees to consider Raw! I think Ani Phyo's book might be my next one, but I'm going to have to learn discipline and hold off buying new books until I make a recipe or two out of the ones I already have!! So glad to hear about the pickled ginger; can't wait to try that one! Like a few of you, I thought the color was from something unnatural, so I was glad to hear it was from one of my favorite vegetables, the beet. Nice.

Hey, Kathy, guess what's going on at my local Costco?! Yep ... it's Vitamix week. I loved watching the demos; really helpful. I brought mine home today and will retire my Osterizer to my luggage to be my traveling smoothie blender. Question: Do I need the separate dry blade container? I know it makes flour and blends dough and grinds tough things, but I couldn't find much information on what it does besides that that the wet container doesn't do. I understand the wet container will make nut butters, so I assume it will grind the nuts and sprouted grains I need for the recipes. I think. Anyone out there with a Vitamix that knows anything about the Dry Blade container, I'd love to hear from you!

I don't yet have a food processor and I'm wondering if I really need one. I've been able to make most of the recipes I wanted to make with my old blender, coffee grinder and dehydrator. Something about necessity being the mother of invention? Now that I've bought my Vitamix, I'm thinking things will be so much easier now. Right?

Anyway, Res, I'm tossing you the bag of cranberries while I have the 9-tray dehydrator full of pineapple. Want some? It's now my favorite snack. I forget what recipe it goes in ... and I probably wouldn't have too much left after a week anyway. LOL! I'm heading out of town this weekend and will definitely find room in my bag for DH pineapple.

Peanutterb, glad to hear you're still enjoying NYC. Such a great place. But you're right; you definitely need money to enjoy it! Were you the one who doesn't eat seeds? Could you tell me why? The Vitamix demonstrator was suggesting we use grapes with seeds to get the extra antioxidant value from the crushed seeds. He also included the seeds from bell pepper and apples and cantaloupes and I forget what else, but very little got peeled (bananas and oranges) or seeded. I wanted you standing next to me so you could tell me why that's probably not a good thing. Or maybe a good thing for some of us but not for others??

Nance, you're brave visiting here with so many days left on your cleanse! So many good questions. Hey, what's with the 51 year old crowd? Me too! Hmmm.... Perhaps we should just pick a day next year for our group 52nd BD party. Here's an idea, J Cornbleet visits southern California a few times each year and is willing to offer a full-day cooking class (in addition to the longer class she teaches in northern California) if there are enough folks interested. So ... since she is so cute and fun, it would make a great outing for a group BD. I'll plan for my husband to be out on a business trip and you could all stay with me. Traffic is horrible here, but the weather is generally pretty good and we could take a field trip to Matt Amsden's restaurant. There are worse places than southern Cal. Just dreaming out loud. Oh, not to disappoint anyone, but Jennifer Cornbleet's not 100% raw. In fact, she kept mentioning how to modify her recipes if you wanted to be 100% raw. When she made her brownies and added cocoa powder, someone asked if it was raw chocolate. She said No, but that it wouldn't kill you. It was organic. Ha!

Hey, I think it would be fabulous if we could just set up a group lending library and I could borrow someone's copy of a Raw uncook book I don't yet have!!

Sim, you, your Dad and family are in my prayers. Heart disease is all too aggravatingly common these days. *Hugs* to all - Life is too short not to spend it with great friends ... like all of you!!

    Hi TeePee!
Yes! I use my blank plate for banana ice creams and nut butters...can you do them in a FP? Sure, but they have a different consistency. The blank plate is amazing. I suggest you wait until SOMEONE gives you a juicer with a blank plate for a gift
