I use a jelly strainer to strain my almond milk. The pulp can be frozen and used in other receipes - like crackers

I've tried several mandolines. I hated the OXO. My favorite so far is the kitchenaid. It had a blade guard with it, but that cracked the first time I used it. I'm trying not to lose body parts like some of you gals!!

I use my vitamix for everything. I don't have a good juicer. I have a little cuisanart citrus juicer which works quite well.

I just checked and my mandoline is a Progressive. If I'm not careful it still tries to eat me for dinner!

Question Re: The One Month RAW Challenge

What is a mandoline? I play a mandolin . . . but this sounds dangerous!

Sim: Hang in there. I'm sorry to hear about your dad collapsing. My mother has congestive heart failure. Make sure he's not using "salt"! Or eating/sneaking salty things.

Kathy the nori rolls look great and I agree that it should be made in a double batch. The fun thing for me is making them and then eating them hours later or the next day because Yes, it's softer, not quite soggy because it's elastic in a way but really tasty. I like the rolls soggy-ish and I like eating them right away. Today I'm going to try it with avocado instead of spinach.

I made a batch last night and added more ginger and garlic (haven't tried them yet). I bought some light soy yesterday (because the girl at the asian market said they don't carry nama shoyu because it's hawaiian???). I'm looking forward to lunch.

    Love to all,

It's a hand slicer. (It slices hands, LOL! At least, fingers and thumbs! )

    I did a quick web search and here's a typical-looking one:

The onion bread/crackers that I made over the weekend are fantastic! I did it a bit differently by chopping the onions in the food processor. They have a "sweet" flavor as if I added a sweetner but it's the onions! I can't quite make a sandwich because I made them thin this time - but they're great.

    How's everyone doing today?

    Hi Girls,

I am watching wife swap as I check in. I usually don't turn TV on, but I have to sit to ice my back. Anyway, the one husband is a professional eater!!! I can't tell how many hot dogs he just ate in two minutes. It is so unbelievable. Just thought that was funny. What if any of us did this and some one had to come prepare raw food!!!???? And the family we went to had to eat raw food!!!??? Just a little humor for a Monday night

So yesterday I made marinated mushrooms. I think I posted it before. But I changed it up a bit (like I do everything I make everytime). I used medium Baby Bellas. Put olive oil, nama shoyu and spices~ cumin, curry, garlic, onion powder and even some agave nectar because it tasted too salty. Left them in the marinade in a glass dish and put in DH with sliced carrots and red peppers. YUMMY!! Left them in overnight and they were even more amazing than last night. I had to run out and get more mushrooms because there was so much marinade left, I couln't waste it. Am having again tomorrow, I guess!! I know BF will love them when he gets here!

I made and ate my first ever sushi last nite too!! It was basic with cukes, carrots, red pepper and avocado. I actually did like it! I want to sprout some quinoa for the next time. How do you all get it so pretty and perfect??

Okay, I have to do some school work. Hope you are all "rawsome" today!

    Hiya TeePee and Buddies,

Mushrooms are the best and yours sound delicious. What's the difference between nama shoyu and soy sauce?

A few days ago I made the nutmeat for the Nori Rolls. I upped the garlic and the ginger and liked it much much better this time. I used avocado in place of the spinach in two of them and day 1 it didn't taste all that great with the avocado - however, Day 2 was shining!! The Nori sheets get a bit "soft" but chewy and all it took was one to satisfy me completely. haha, nevermind. Once I get it out of my mind that there's rice rolled up I'm good. So mtmouse looks like I have a weekly hot date with your Nori Rolls. Between that and Mr. Mango I'm good to go.

Sending out *hugs* and warm wishes to Sim and family. How's your Dad?

I watched my Buddy The Take Home Chef yesterday and he used a mandolin. The woman he was cooking with almost sliced her finger off! You should've seen their faces when she whipped her hand away quickly. Later they did a mini "how'd you like cooking with Curtis" spot and she said the only downside was almost slicing her finger off! *I'm NOT buying one. I'm bad enough with a regular knife!

The grains are sprouting (buckwheat) for my first attempt at making pizza. Boutenko has a recipe where you leave the "batter" out overnight to ferment. Sounds interesting. She uses Flax seeds and no sprouted grains. That will be next. I didn't have rye so I'm sprouting oats to make oat bagels.

    How's everyone doing today?

    Love,

    Kellyjane,

The answer to your question is in the General Help for Newbies thread:

    http://www.therawfoodsite.com/forum/...7&postcount=28

Please take a look at that whole thread. There's a "table of contents" at the beginning. The links don't seem to work properly right now, but the list gives you an idea of what topics are covered in the thread, and you can just scroll or jump to them.

    Good luck with your cleanse!
