I wish you luck and strength. I've only got one (he's 3) to make food for, and it's been rough! It's especially bad when he sits on the chair next to me, eating PB&J, smacking his lips in enjoyment. Or just watching his rapt attention to the foods he loves....whimper.QUOTE]

I with both of you the strength to carry through each pb&j sandwich and all the other food you need to prepare over the next 10 days or so. You are both very brave.

Hello - I'm on Day 2, first time doing the MC. I have to admit, last night I added extra maple syrup to my last glass of lemonade. Also, yesterday and this morning, I could not finish the entire quart of the salt water. I had more today than yesterday. I'm suprisingly not hungry. I'm terribly bloated anyway becuase my period came the night before I started the fast, but no matter. I basically chose to fast because two years ago, around this time I was 116 pounds. I'm not 139 pounds (or at least I was on Friday). Although my friends think I'm picking the wrong weekend (labor day weekend), I think it's the exact right weekend.

I've been rethinking my relationship with food - or maybe I should say "love affair." After a summer of traveling and weddings all with rich foods, I've come to realize that I really don't need all that much to survive. I'd rather eat to live than live to eat. I'm rambling now. I guess I also never realized how much of my time is dedicated to picking out my next meal and how much of my life is organized around that. I'm excited for the next few days - slighlty scared about tomorrow, as it's Day 3. Also a little nervous about going to work, but at least at work I'll have things to keep my occupied all day. Hope you're all doing well...

    I'm afraid to google that.

cd2318, I see from your info that you live in Burke! I used to live there after grad school, with mom and stepdad. Not a bad place at all! Excellently close to D.C.

Well I'm on day 14! DH is very proud of me and a little bit amazed. It's been 4 long years since he saw me really restricting my food, and I think he forgot that I could do it. (DH is continuing his SLOW fast-breaking. It's the 4th day and he only started vegetables last night; still nothing cooked)

Scary thing is that this is all sort of normal now. I either don't care about food anymore, or I've really *gotten* the fact that food will be around when I finish the MC and wean off of it.

The cravings for DS's food have tapered, too, though I sure can smell it!

Actually, the other day I craved something odd. Well, I didn't really crave it, b/c it's impossible to get, but I thought about it too long. It was some sort of hot cow-based sandwich I used to eat at a chain restaurant when I lived in San Jose. I ate them quite often, back when I was omnivorous. Maybe it was some ancient detox of those sandwiches, 20 years later. Who knows?

Fit into pants last night I haven't been able to fit into in over a year. Couldn't even fit them last week! That was nice, and also reinforcement to continue with this fast until I really feel done.

    Woo hoo, it's Day 10 !!!

Of course, I'm not stopping the cleanse today, but it still feels good to be at this point, knowing that I can now stop whenever I feel like it!!

cd2318, glad the 2nd part of your day is going better than the 1st part!! I didn't realize you live in VA too!!
I live just North of Richmond.

Welcome, southernbelle. Hope you have a successful cleanse.

Welcome to any other cleansers just starting out too.

As planned, I did the Get Regular tea this morning instead of the SWF. I made it through church just fine. The tea didn't work until after I got back home, and then I went about 3 times in 30 min.

I feel a little tired today and the muscles in my thighs (the front), right above my knees are feeling sore, especially when I go down steps. This has to be a detox symptom because I didn't do a thing yesterday to make my muscles hurt. I've had some joint pain in my knees the past few months, so maybe this has something to do with it. I currently have pain in my middle finger joint on my right hand. This has been going on about a month. My finger is stiff and hurts when I bend it. I've been hoping that this cleanse will have a positive effect on it, but nothing so far. These symptoms aren't bad.
I had a slight sinus headache around bedtime last night and it was gone when I got up this morning.
So far, my detox symptoms haven't been bad at all, and that's a good thing!

I may have to give in and go take a short little nap!

It IS amazing how much time is spend around food. And not even fabulous food spent with fabulous people, like it seems you've spent your time recently. But just the day to day, mundane food that we (um, I) eat (and overeat) takes up SO much mental and physical energy!

Georgejr: Burroughs recommends rubbing peppermint oil into your temples. Also, ice packs work really well for me. I used to get really bad migraines and the only thing I could do was wrap my head in icepacks! Couldn't swallow anything as it came right back up.

cd2318 and JackieB: Hang in there! I feel much the same way today! Got up, drank my SWF, elim'd, drank some water and crawled back into bed. Slept for 4+ hours and am finally drinking my first lemon-limeades (made them a double). Feel a little better, but still feel kind of out of it and have NO energy!

anyara: Congrats on getting to 12 days! You're just detoxing so keep on keepin' on! We're all here to help you!

cd2318: Since I don't own an ionic foot bath, I use a basin w/ warm water and Epsom salts and soak my feet. It is amazing to see the water change from almost clear to this yuucky gray color after I'm done!

rawrookie: Congrats on getting through Day 1 and best of luck getting through the rest of your cleanse! I hear you on rethinking your relationship with food! I didn't realize until I went through my first cleanse, just how much time I spent thinking about food, shopping for food, preparing food, cooking food, deciding what to eat, and finally eating it! Not to mention cleaning up after cooking!

    Meeshka
: Way to go on getting to Day 14! YEA!!! I hope that's me in 2 weeks!

Lin: And a big CONGRATS to you for getting to Day 10! Looks like you are detoxing as well today! Seems like everyone posting today is detoxing, no matter what day they are on! Is it the harmonic or disharmonic convergence???

Sigh, now I know what I'll be doing at DS's naptime. If he ever goes down for a nap, that is.

Forgot to mention in my day 14 update that I can walk almost normally! Although I had a twinge in my knee last night, the twinge cleared again, and this morning I was able to get up without wondering if all the bones in my foot were broken. Right before starting the MC I got out my athletic training books and had self-diagnosed my foot problem and knee problem, and was trying to figure out who to go to and what they could do for me (and how on EARTH I was going to get through 5 days at Disneyland starting in 15 days), but now I don't think I'll need that appointment.

And i've NEVER had things like that clear up on the MC before. Then again, I was younger and was having much more bodywork done, so there was no chance for my bod to hang on to those things before. Oh well, glad it's clearing, no matter HOW I got it to happen!

WOW, I've learned something new today! I didn't know plain Epsom salts would have that effect! I know I've used them for other kinds of soaks, but not just for feet. How much salt do you use? Thanks!
