Katiebeth527 – Yes, it is quite necessary to have “plain water” (spring or purified!) throughout the day. It is ESSENTIAL. The water helps to wash through the toxins which are being expelled by your system. If you don’t wash them through, then those toxins will be reabsorbed. The tea and SWF are a major part of that flushing, but not the only part. Peter advises that you “drink enough additional water so that you have drunk at lease one ounce of water or lemonade for each two pounds of body weight each day.” (from his book p. 28 )

Emilyj1987 – You must use fresh squeezed lemon juice on the Master Cleanse. The reason is that lemon juice from a bottle (even if it is organic) is pasteurized. It has been heated to high temperatures to kill germs and to improve shelf life, but that process also kills all the benefical enzymes which help greatly in detoxification. (Peter’s book p. 22) Your Day 1 will begin the day that you are using fresh lemons. You have great enthusiasm and purpose. I wish you the best!

Hawaiian – The taste in your mouth is a common detoxification symptom. You can brush your tongue and some have recommended a tongue scraper. You can get these at health food stores. I use one and highly recommend it. It helps. Also, if you haven’t have any SWF elimination for the past 3-4 days, I think you probably need to increase the amount of salt you are using by ½ t if it’s the coarse kind and by ¼ t. if it’s the finely ground type. You definitely want to get those eliminations going. Are you drinking the proper amount of water throughout the day for your body weight? Also, don’t drink water or your first lemonade until after the SWF starts working.

Lia – Yes, you can go to 1 T. of maple syrup per drink rather than two, but don’t go below that. There is more on this in the newbies thread.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks, I did not see it there on how much you can cut out but I will check it out again. I did cut it back by 1/2 T. and then I messed up and cut it back some more, but it did not seem to bother me. I guess I was just worried that if I cut it back to much that I would get hungry or that I would not be getting enought of what I needed. So this makes me feel great to know.

    Again Thanks

So it's a 'little less' in 6 glasses of lemonade.
Thanks Shellied I have been only drinking 6 because that is about all I can squeeze in between tea and SWF plus just water. Wow I know that when I started the cleanse I thought that I was going to be hungry and would drink alot of lemonade but that was not true.

I know that I have realized alot these last few days about myself and the way I view food and it is pretty sad. But now I think I am a better person for it.

Today is the end of my day 9 and I am not sure if I will go passed 10 or not. I am thinking I would like to have my tongue clear up a bit more so we will see. I know that when I am finished I will not miss the tea that is one thing that I have not liked from the begining and still dont. I guess I am just not a tea kind of girl.

Well I guess I had better get off of here and drink my tea before I head off to bed tonight.
    Good night all

I am on Day 5. Today was actually the first day that I experienced a gag reflux with the SWF. Previous days were no problem. On Day 4, I woke up with a burst of energy! This is very unlike me. But, that same evening proved to be the most depressed I've been during the cleanse. Though, I am a mood swing kind of person by nature.

I've had such willpower following the MC by the book even cooking dinners for my family without a single nibble!!! With no taste testing, God knows how the food tasted! Though yesterday I had a temptation... while in one of those stores that pay their workers to push a new food item and offer free samples, I had to think twice, then three times before I would devour the free sample!!! Luckily, I stopped in time. That's the S.A.D. for ya!!!

I'm also feeling the same. I used to fast years ago and loved it. Then there was a backlash over fasting (I went mainly water) so I quit. I really missed it because it's how I kept my body mass down. I'm quite happy skipping a day of eating and have found it very difficult to stay on diets where everything counts. For me, abstaining works - counting doesn't.

Except for my being in a different time zone, we are on pretty much the same day (you have just finished 9 and I'm on the morning of day ten while you sleep).

If you do continue on, it'd be great to have someone to bounce experiences with. I'm going for 24/25 if I can. We'll see. I have a 14 hour international flight to contend with. Then a four hour drive and an inner country flight so I'm not sure how they'll work out.

    Sleep well.

Almost through with Day 7. WHEW. I read several times that's it is generally a major detox day and boy if it didn't happen to me. We had to call off our yard sale shopping as I wasn't about to leave the house!

We had a lunch gathering at one of my favorite sushi spots. And I'll admit that I was drooling all over myself but I held it together. After stepping on the scale this morning and seeing that I've lost 8 lbs. I was more than happy to pass up the rice and tempura for a swig of lemonade.

Aside from the actual pounds I've lost. My whole body shape has changed. My hourglass figure I had when I was 19 is starting to come back and my thighs are looking awesome. I zipped up an old vinyl skirt I didn't think I'd get into again!

So if anyone is feeling discouraged let me tell you. It's TOTALLY worth it. I feel like this is just a stepping stone to a healthy and clear minded future!

    RAWK ON EVERYONE!!

    "wildforlemon",
Thank you so much! I went right in and did a intense brushing of my tongue with just warm water and finally some relief from that horrible taste in my mouth! I wish I would have done this days ago! Thank you thank you!!!
I will try adding a 1/2 t. more to the SWF tomorrow and see what happens.
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my questions. I really appreciate it.
    God Bless,
    Hawaiian

I have completed 9 days so far!!!! only 1 day left.

    Lia,

I neglected to thank you directly for answering my question about the need for plain water. Thank you! I'm drinking the water too now!!

    MrsK,
Your note was VERY encouraging!! Thank you!!!! Yes!! Seeing lost lbs, and a new you, or seeing ANY good results is VERY encouraging. THankyou!

Well, I humbly say that while I had began feeling like I was getting the hang of this whole MC thing.... I feel pretty silly now. So now I know... I DO need to drink plain water too...
Now here's another thing I've learned: I already knew the MC was better than the water fast because it prevents the cravings and keeps up your energy.... (among other benefits of course....) but heck... I just got lazy this morning, and had also thought I'd try doing water most of the day for the sake of benefit.... and boy! -- did I have cravings!! Not a safe idea! No wonder the MC is so superior and people can go way longer on it, and be so much more successful!! By 3 pm or so... I got my lemon- "aid" back on...

--Oh and also.... the energy thing... by drinking the water only, instead of the lemon-'aid'... I was very lazy and sluggish feeling again... again..... I'm thankful for this MC lemon-aid idea!! Thank you Peter, etc...

I like my lemon-aid.... I will want to continue it forever.... I even thought I'd try it w/ out the cayenne... for the 1st glass... as a treat.. and ya know... I think I actually prefer it w/ the cayenne!

Well, I am just finishing my day 1. I avoided a dozen freshly made doughnuts, fried chicken, fresh doughnuts, mashed potatoes, and corn on the cob, did I mention fresh doughnuts

I barely was able to drink 6 lemonades today, I know I didn't drink enough water I ended up 2 cups short tomorrow I am going to get started earlier so that I wont be trying to squeeze in my last lemonade so late.

Overall it was an easy day. Im looking forward to starting day 2, I hope everyone is doing well.

    Sandra
