Thread: doing MC on the airplane?

Unhappy doing MC on the airplane?

I'm going to be going to the airport in about a week. For people that live in the US, you'll understand me when i say that security at the airport is very strict and will not allow any liquids pass the gates(i know bush is retarded) Anyways, i won't be done with my MC by the time i get there so I have a couple of questions with what to do.

Since I'm going to be at the airport and airplane for about 12 hrs, should i...

    1. Drink 10-12 glasses of lemonade before going to the airport and just chug water for 12 hours and hope for the best.

    or.....

    2. Buy regular bottled lemonade they sell inside the airport(i.e. minute maid lemonade I'm assuming)

And if i do number 2, would i be breaking the fast if i drink regular lemonade instead of the homemade ones i make? Thanks for your help. No matter what happens though, I am more than determined not to break the fast since I've already failed twice and really want to keep it this time(i stopped after 5 days because I wanted pizza sooooo bad... it was NOT worth it, the pizza gave me a horrible stomach ache and tasted nasty~!

Wow, this one is a toughie: *If* they have lemons on the plane you should be OK *If* they'll allow you bring Maple onboard. Since this is more of a syrup, would they consider it liquid? Also, what about people who travel and are on a strict diet of some sort? There must be a way to accommodate those people (and you).

Call the airport and see what they can do for you. If they were able to get maple aboard the plane you'd be good to go.

I think you'd have to get a "special dispensation" if you wanted to take more than 3 oz of syrup on board. Before I traveled the last time, I wanted to take a gift of jam with me and learned that this is considered a "liquid or gel". And since they didn't sell it in sizes smaller than 4 oz., it couldn't be carried on.

However, 3 oz of MS will get you through three drinks. Now that I think of it, I doubt they'd notice if you had two containers of MS in that baggie. As long as everything is in separate small travel containers, my experience was they didn't look too carefully. And some of my containers were opaque, so it wouldn't be obvious what was in them anyway.

On the flight itself you could drink water. In the airport I imagine you could find a restaurant which would have some lemons they might give you.

Don't drink the "lemonade" sold in the airport, though--it not only is bottled, but it also has sugar and no doubt all sorts of other stuff.

Noooooooooooooo! Definately don't do the store-bought lemonade! That stuff is all sugar, HFCS (high fructose corn syrup), awful preservatives, artificial colors and artificial flavors....oh yeah, and 2% pasteurized lemon juice!

I think I would drink my lemonade before the flight, and drink water on the flight. I like the suggestions that mtmouse made. You could bring a few ounces of MS and then mix that with on-board bottled water to give you some energy. You probably could do a little bottle of lemon juice too without anyone freaking out. (If anyone asks, just say it's for a highlighting hair rinse ) I wonder, could you bring a whole lemon on board? Probably not, but you could try.

My understanding is that fasting with water alone is actually "quicker" as a detox than MC (much more dangerous over a lengthy period too), so in this case (NOT as a general rule, all you other MCers out there!) just doing water on your 12 hour flight might detox you quicker. Won't be fun, but it is doable.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

Oh yeah, I wasn't thinking a 12-hour actual flight, just 12 hours total travel time, including layovers (when you could have a drink). I don't like the idea of 12 hours on water only.

But if it's a long flight, I like the idea of bringing along, say, two 2-oz containers of lemon juice and two 2-oz containers of MS with cayenne.

Then all you need is water. You would have enough for 4 drinks that way and it should tide you over just fine.

Here's my plan: I shopped everywhere for 3 oz bottles. Of anything!! The bottles have to be clearly labeled as to size or you will not be able to bring them aboard. So..... I found 2.5 oz bottles of hot sauce. I'm pouring out the sauce and refilling them with MS. I do plan to bring lemons and cayenne, which I thought they would allow in carryon. Not sure why they wouldn't. Anyway, I'll bring a bottle of lemonade and drink it up to the point in security when they make me toss it. I did that last time I traveled on a shorter flight. I also had a bottle of lemonade iced down in my checked bag, so I could get it out at luggage claim and drink it in the taxi to my hotel. That worked great. It's just that flying cross country this time, I think I'll need to bring something onboard besides H2o. Good luck!

I traveled two weeks ago and I had a bunch of 2-oz bottles (containing hair spray, hair conditioner, hand cream, and Castile soap) that weren't marked as to size or contents, so they don't absolutely have to be. (However, I did have a 1-oz container that was marked, so maybe that helped. At any rate, I had no trouble getting through security on either leg of my trip.)

But your plan certainly sounds like a good one! I think you can bring an empty container on board (I've also done that), so I think you could keep the empty container from your last drink and then re-use it to make one later.

    Haev a good trip!

Hey, thanks for the extra info, mtmouse! Personal experience is the best gauge. I was just going by what I found on the security website. It changes so frequently. I assume you still had to make sure they all fit in a quart-sized bag? I didn't know about that one last time I flew and they threw out all but one of my small containers. Let me have one out of sympathy! So I decided to get better about following the rules! LOL!

    HealtyBiz--

I knew about the quart bag before I left, so I made sure everything fit in there ahead of time (and I had about seven or eight items). I then took the quart bag out of the suitcase and put it in the tray at security and had no problems at all.
