    Default Medications?

    Hello,

I am new to the site and I am not sure if my post is getting out there. I sent one earlier, but not sure where it went. Anyway, if this reaches anyone my question is this, this will be my first time doing the MC and I struggle with bad headaches and migraines and I am nervous that I won't be able to take anything if one occurs. I take Excedrin Migraine and just wanted to know if I could take it if I need it. I am concerned how my body would react to it without food in my system. I also take probiotics daily and wanted to know if I should continue to take them on the cleanse or hold off until after? I also take allergy medications and Nexium, but I am planning on stopping those for the cleanse. Thanks!

    Arrow Re: Medications?

I will reply to this to bump this thread up, as I have a question of my own relating to the topic.

I am taking medications that I'm suppossed to take at night, with food. Am I able to take these with the lemonade (since it does contain calories) without flushing the medications out of my system?

If not, then this might not be the right route for me. But I'm sure that there's plenty of people on this board who know the answer, so please let me know!

    Thanks!

Flash: The best thing to do is *before* cleansing, make up a glass of lemonade and take the medication with it (make sure you're doing this on an empty stomach) to test. See how you feel. Most of the time taking pills with food means "food". I'm not certain the lemonade would qualify as food in this case.

The cleanse is amazing! Keep in mind it's "detox". I take medication regularly and don't stop when I cleanse. I'll never end up with a pink tongue but that's not a big deal to me because I love the way the cleanse makes me feel.

Keep me posted on what you plan on doing.

    Question Re: Medications?

i dont really know how these forum things work, but hopefully someone will read this and maybe help me out with an answer...

does anyone know or has anyone had experience with anti-depressants and the cleanse? i take lexapro daily, along with birth control, allergy meds, and antibiotics for my skin. i just stopped my birth control and will be stopping the other two besides the lexapro. i plan to start the cleanse the day after tomorrrow.

so mainly, besides all that, my question is will the cleanse make my anti-depressants ineffective by getting rid of them??

I am going to try to start the cleanse this weekend, I am hoping the 2 days of starting will be enough so I am ready to cleanse and work by next monday.
My question is also regarding medication. I tried the cleanse about a year ago but I get headaches so I ended up quitting because I couldn't hack it, I want to know if I can take pain meds if needed (I'm thinking mostly if one comes on while I'm at work), also I take Methimazole for my thyroid and Metformin for PCOS.

SillyBilly, generally the rule of thumb from the senior members of this board is that you take prescription meds (i.e., for thyroid, blood pressure, diabetes etc) while on the MC. However, pain meds and other meds that are used p.r.n or as needed, or over the counter meds, one does not take. So you would take your thyroid and diabetes meds as prescribed but AFTER you have expelled your SWF.
    Good luck with your MC.

I'm supposed to take LevoThyroxine, every day for a deficient thyroid...

I'm sure I will live if I don't take it for 2 weeks (I'm planning on a 14 day cleanse)..but will talk to my doctor first.

Anyone else on Thyroid med's and cleansing?

Please read the other posts on this thread as well as the General Help for Newbies thread, which answer this and many other questions you may have.

Start at the beginning, where there's a Table of Contents.

You can also do a search for "thyroid" and find out what others have had to say.

    Happy cleansing!

    Hi,

I just wanted to let others know that I am currently taking Wellbutrin, Prozac, Provigil and Trazadone - this is day 6 of my first cleanse, and I haven't had any problems.

Hi Swig...if you can, try embarking on the MC without your Excederin Migraine. Migraine headaches or ANY aches & pains while on the MC are detox symptoms. Your migrains "could" be caused by toxicity you are experiencing now, before you embark on your cleanse. In fact, some would say the Excederin is partly to blame for causing your toxicity (along with diet, etc.).

We are all toxic to some degree due to our diet and our environment. But on the MC, you get the chance to really get this stuff out of you. If you haven't read Stanley Burroughs' book on the MC, I'd suggest it. There is a story about a man who cured his ulcer in 10 days on the MC. If you can live with pain for 2-3 days (the first 2-3 days of the cleanse) you may find you no longer need the headache pills. This is the best result you could hope for...to no longer need that medication because your headaches have gone away.

    Keep us posted!
