    Question Re: Candida/yeast overgrowth Poll

Hello everyone, this will be my first post as a newbie.

I was reading the forums as I am thinking of starting the MC in a couple of weeks, and found this particular thread to be very interesting, as I have had problems with yeast infections for a couple of years now. I have been to the doctor's and taken their prescription medication, taken over-the-counter medications which worked well temporarily but still did not help me rid of this horrible problem that I pray I will not have to live with for the rest of my life. It ALWAYS comes back!!!

I am hoping that this cleanse will help me rid of the toxins that may be causing the chronic yeast infections and would like to ask Mandid some questions regarding how you went about doing that. If you have time, could please give us a detailed description of how you went about the MC plus the probiotics? Here are some questions I have so far:

    1. Which probiotic products did you use and which did you find the most helpful? Are there any products out there that we can readily buy at a local supermarket or drugstore? (I went to the link that Peter posted, but cannot tell if it comes in a box or???)

    2. How many days were you on the probiotics after the MC?

    3. Did you continue the grapefruit seed extract while you were on the MC and/or afterwards while you were on the probiotics? (By the way, where can one purchase grapfefruit seed extract? And can I start taking it with water - while avoiding fruit - before starting the MC?)

    4. How long did you avoid fruits for?

Thank you so much in advance!

    Meeshka-
How sweet of you to check in on me! I wasn't sure if this thread was getting the attention that I thought *I* needed- but I just re-read every single entry and came across your question to me about how I was doing. Well-
generally speaking I'm not a very disciplined human being. I want what I want when I want it. That's why when I completed the MC with NOT a single hitch, I was so proud of me!! I was eating healthful after the cleanse, enjoying my green smoothies and baggy pants and then the news about not eating FRUIT. *SCREECHING HALT- smell the burning rubber?* Since then I've sort of given EVERYTHING up!! Too many restrictions for my celebrating brain!! I was on a roll and my attitude shifted to "OH OK- no fruit? I'll show ya." I'm drinking beer, wine, tortilla chips for dinner. !!@@!! I have discovered that this type of rollercoaster is to be expected when one is attempting to change destructive habits for the betterment of themselves and that because of my perfectionistic tendancies, the key for me is to be self soothing and forgiving (& humorous). Long story short- I still itch like an crazed animal, usually in the morning and at night (what gives there? thank gawd it's not continuously all day long!) That is my only symptom that I'm FULLY aware of <I say ONLY like it's a cake walk...not!> ...I could blame a host of other ailments on Candida but I won't right now.
So I'm at square ONE with my thumb in my mouth, crying "Mama".
Man- I bet you didn't expect this answer! Are you sorry you asked now???

    Hi -

Just a couple of thoughts regarding yeast infections. I have experienced them off and on and have found that if I use acidophilous and boric acid capsules intermitently, my itching quickly goes away. I had been told at one time by a naturopathic Dr. to insert an acidophilous capsule vaginally in the am and insert a boric acid capsule at night, and repeat this process for up to ten days.

You can easily make your own boric acid caps by purchasing powdered boric acid at a pharmacy and also buying a pack of empty capsules. Be careful though, because the boric acid is poisonous if ingested.

My other suggestion is to make sure that the probiotics you take have bifidus in addition to acidophilous. Bifidus works in your lower intestines and I can feel the difference when I make sure I take this regularly. There are many brands of probiotics to choose from, and someone who work sin a health food store should have some knowledge of probiotics. Good luck!

Just wondering... I have been using a powdered green drink about 6 months now. It's called Vitamineral Green by Healthforce Nutritionals, and it has a bunch of probiotics in it as well as all the veggies and algae and such. So is that sufficient as far as the probiotics are concerned? I definitely don't want a yeast overgrowth after this cleanse. Any input would be appreciated.

    Unhappy Re: Candida/yeast overgrowth Poll

I just started this cleanse 4 days ago. I started it because I think I DO have a Candida problem. I have been having recurring vaginal yeast infections for several months now, and nothing was helping them go away for good, and I have been getting rashes on my face and hands, and I have been having athletes foot problems, so I looked up on Web MD the sympotoms of Yeast and found a HUGE long list of symptoms, some I wouldn't have even thought would be from yeast, and guess what,,, I had more then half of the symptoms, so I printed off the list and highlighted my symptoms and went to my doctor for help,, he seemed to think there was nothing wronge with me except for irritable bowel syndrome, but I have a hard time believing that all my symptoms are from irritable bowel syndrome, and he refused to test my stool for candida, and said if I had a candida problem, I would be sooo deathly ill that I would be laid up in a hospital. so, I started this 4 days ago because I have been only able to eat boiled chicken, and yogurt for more then a month now, and if I eat ANYTHING else I get horrible headaches, stomach problems, yeast infections, and rashes all over my chest, face, and hands and I am getting REAL sick of it. I swear I know it is Candida, but I can't get help from my doctor so this is my solution. I have been doing everything right except for the tea laxitive at night, because I have non stop been having the runs, so much so I even (imbarressed to say this) messed my pants in my sleep. My face did start breaking out again today, but I hope that goes away. I don't even care if I lose weight on this because I have lost 60 pounds over the past 8 months doing a professional weightloss program, I just REALLLLLY want to feel better! Does this sound accurate to anyone who has ever had a candida problem?? Is my doctor totally wronge here? will this help?

    Exclamation Re: Candida/yeast overgrowth Poll

Hi! I have been done with the cleanse now for over a week, and I feel great! I had masive yeast problems before I started that my doctor refused to aknowledge, but since I did the master cleanse, EVERY single problem has gone away! I didn't even do the probiotic, how cool is that?!? No vag, yeast infections, no hangover headackes without the alcohol, no stomach akes, no rashes on my face and chest and hands! No athletes foot, No candida in my stool. AND!!!!!! I am able to eat more then just chicken and yogurt now, which I wasn't able to do for more then 2 months before I did the MC, because that would give me the symptoms REALLLLLLY bad. I'm GREAT!!! I hope it is accomplishing for everyone elses, what it accomplished for me, which is feeling better!

Unhappy Fix the candida without losing weight?

    Hi everyone,
I'm considering the Master Cleanse because I've had an issue with candida overgrowth for probably 5-6 years now. Anytime I would go to a dr they'd tell me to get some Monistat, which would clear it up for a couple of days but then it's right back; I know it's all over but they never listen.
One of my concerns is people saying they lose all this weight within a few days on this cleanse. I am at a healthy weight for my height and body type (5'4" and 120lbs, 23 yrs old, and a dancer/dance teacher so I'm pretty active) and so I don't want to lose ANY weight if I can help it. Will this likely be an issue for me if I do decide to do the MC, and any other little things I should know about before I start?
Thanks very much for your help.

    Hello,

I am also doing the MC in hopes of clearing up candida. On my last MC, which I did in July, I did take probiotics for a few days afterwards. However, a week after finishing the MC, we went on a family vacation with my husband's family to a cabin in the mountains and the refrigerater was stocked with beer. I had a beer or two each evening while we were there and, lo and behold, the tinea versicolor, which cleared up during the cleanse, popped back up all over my chest and back almost immediately. Someone in a previous post asked if tinea versicolor and candida were related and I can assure you THEY ARE!! Of course, conventional medicine considers tinea versicolor to be completely benign - although they say they don't know exactly what causes it, which makes me wonder.. if they don't know what causes it, how can they claim it's benign? DUH!! (It's no wonder I distrust the medical establishment) Anyway, my husband and I have been trying for almost a year to get pregnant, unsucessfully, and I'm certain it is because if candida. So, this time I will be taking probiotics, eating naturally occuring probiotic foods and most of all - staying away from alcohol (beer especially since it not only has sugar in it but also YEAST!!!)

My husband also has a condition called geographic tongue, and I'm pretty certain it is also caused by candida. Again, the medical establishment calls it a benign condition, in which they are uncertain of its origin, but the spots he gets on his tongue look exactly like the fungal spots that outbreak on my back and chest. We're both on the MC now so I'll report back afterwards with an update of our progress.

I finished an 18 day MC, and I have continued to keep a raw (mostly raw) and organic diet and YES, I overdid and overdo probiotics! They are necessary, and anyone who did not take them after the cleanse, you should know why you have candida or yest infections. The cleanse takes all the bad stuff, but also all the good stuff-the good bacteria and flora that will fight the bad and rebuild your system. Even after I do one colonic, I take extra probiotics! THEY ARE A MUST!

I have not had much concerning candida after finishing my cleanse, and if I do, I make sure that I "poop" and it seems to subside and go away. Also, I have completed 2 liver cleanses, and will do another in 2 weeks. I do know that this has helped! Check out Dr. Hulda's liver cleanse online!

I am eating fruits now, and a lot, AND NO YEAST!!!

I hope this helps and please let me know if anyone has any comments or needs anything else!

    Hey Mandib!
I really hope you see my respose to your post...I have had candida for six months and I am starting the Master Cleanse tomorrow. I have never had a vaginal yeast infection, but I'm pretty positive that I have system candida because I have many syptoms...fatigue, headaches, BRAIN FOG, athletes foot, allergies, asthma, acid reflux, etc.
I got really hopeful when I saw your post...did you ever experience brain fog from your candida? Infact, has anyone out there cleared up their brain fog with the master cleanse? It is killing me! I used to be SO happy, but the brain fog is ruining my life and I had to come home from college for the rest of the quarter because I couldn't concentrate :/
I have tried everything, and I am a bit hesitant to do the master cleanse as I am afraid that it will only worsen my symtpoms, but it sounds like you were able to clear yours up. Any help/encouragement would be greatly appreciated from anyone! Thanks!

    Hi waterbaby!

I suspect that I have Candida. I've had 5 of the 7 symptoms you listed on the other thread (fatigue, brain fog, allergies, asthma, acid reflux), plus some other symptoms. I just finished an 11-day MC half a week ago (plus 3 others in the past), and it's always only made me feel better...nothing was worse for me by the end. But, if I do have Candida, it's not a severe case. I get hypoglycemic reactions to sugar and honey, but noticed no such reactions to the MS while I was on the MC.

I've read that agave syrup can be substituted for maple syrup on the MC (and have also read there's some disagreement about that). Agave syrup has a lower glycemic index than MS. Here are some links to some information about it:

    http://www.sunfood.com/b2c/ecom/ecom...1&bulkexists=0

    http://www.wholesomesweeteners.com/b...ve_Nectar.html

It's common to get quite clear mentally on the MC (I do!).
