Hi All!
I'm thinking of starting the MC on October 2nd ... next Monday. It's really the only good stretch of time I've got -- company lunch on wed, away on business this wed night and thurs, going home to visit Mom this weekend. I'll only be doing it through the following Sunday (Oct 8th) because I go away on business again on the 10th and I want to be eating food by that time. I've noticed that for people who are unfamiliar with cleansing, they believe it to be potentially dangerous and my personal favorite, an extreme diet of sorts (ie. just to lose weight ... in their world, another way to anorexia).
Just wanted to introduce myself, though, and give a little background so that I might get some advice from experience. I have done the cleanse once before for 3 days with great success in as much as I wasn't cheating. But I got extremely disheartened by the lack of effects of the SWF. I felt as though i might be hurting my body by ingesting all of that salt and not excreting it. That's what caused me to quit. Last night, I spent hours reading various posts and I'm less concerned about it now. The SWF is not pleasant ... I still have some fear that since I'm only doing it for 7 days (and some people still don't have success with the SWF after 8 days) that I may go the entire cleanse without actually CLEANSING. That fact has prompted me to look into colonics during the fast. I KNOW, I KNOW! Stanley says NO COLONICS! But getting some out is better than getting none out, right? Has anyone else ever broken this rule with little harm done? I understand that everyone's got a differing opinion on the issue ... just some advice would help. I'm thinking of doing two, maybe one on Tuesday (3rd) and Friday (6th) or maybe two in the beginning to get things rolling.
Why am I doing the cleanse beyond obvious reasons? My colon has always been sluggish. Sometimes it just doesn't work. That's been the case for the last month or so. It frustrates me to high Heaven because I know how that organ is SUPPOSED TO function. Am I vegetarian? No. Do I follow all of the natural health - care for your body rules? No. I know them all, but have the will power to follow few. ANYWAY, I digress. I have taken what are essentially herbal laxatives for the past 4 years. I usually have success with them (they work everyday) unless there is some unusual stressor in my life. Currently, I just started a new (and my first ever!) job (with social challenges evident already), moved into a new apartment and have a 7-month-new boyfriend.
Long story short, I need to get clean, and i need to lose the pills. My poor digestive system is always bombarded.
So ..... any advice? Shoot it my way!
Thanks!

Since you already know that Burroughs doesn't recommend it I'll just throw in a tiny blurb: the SWF moves everything down and OUT, the colonic pushes it up first and then down but doesn't reach the length of the colon as the swf does. If the swf hasn't worked well for you have you thought of increasing the amount of salt? Are you doing the tea the night before?
I'm sure you know the ropes. Your body needs fiber and water to move the waste out. Veggies are the best. Figs, dates and prunes work like Roto Rooter. Food for thought.
Healthy things grow, Growing things change, Real growth is measureable.
Anyway, you can guess I'm not going to support a colonic during the cleanse. Res always has the best advice. Here's some other thoughts:
