Thread: Hair Coloring?

  1. #1

    Default Hair Coloring?

Here's an odd question...maybe it's been addressed, I'm not sure, but here goes:

Since we're not supposed to add anything to our diets while on the cleanse, especially chemicals, would it be wise to color my hair knowing that some (if not all) of the chemicals in home coloring kits can be absorbed by the skin on the scalp?

Other odd mention: I'm on day 3 and since I woke up this morning, everything everywhere smells like a sweaty gym/b.o. Most bizarre! Any ideas on that?

Hi Gillmoli, maybe hold off on the hair colouring if you can for a few days so you can get rid of a few more toxins, before a new lot arrive
The sweaty gym - yep you're detoxing ! Totally normal

    Thanks Vetiver!

So you agree that hair color does get absorbed by the system through the skin? I should probably switch to a natural color like the ones at Whole Foods.

Also, did you experience the "sweaty gym" smell too? It's so gross! I'm definitely thinking it's my sinuses finally clearing out all that gunk that's been giving me problems since I was 12 years old!

    agreed.

hair color does put nasties back into your system.

sweaty gym? is it your own B.O. or is it sinuses clearing up?

I was lucky and missed out on the B.O. symptoms. It was probably due to my mom buying a new house and I was taking advantage of the new sauna in her basement everyother day. my body was rinsing itself out from the inside.

good luck with the rest of yo' cleanse!

Hiya, yes, have heard rumours (so not conclusive proof ) that hair dye chemicals are absorbed through the skin. I'm not familiar with the WholeFoods brand (am in the UK), but a more natural one surely cant hurt ?
Oh yes, I definately went through the smelly phase. I think it was about days 4 - 5 that I felt as though I was in my own private travelling silage pit, only it was me :-[ About 5 baths a day helped :O Unpleasant, but it does pass - honestly ! LOL

Well, it's actually not me...meaning, it's not my b.o. I'm smelling I've asked several people, one of which is my husband and is brutally honest about everything and he said the only thing that smells bad is my breath, which is totally understandable especially with my coated tongue.

So, I'm almost 100% sure it's my sinuses because now they're draining and I've decided to use my saline to help them along. I'm now on day 4 and still no change in what I'm smelling. Yuck! It's like a musky, salty, stench that I smell everywhere I go. I certainly hope it passes soon because it's driving me nuts!

sorry, as for the hair coloring, yes they do have a natural brand made of plant extracts and oils and such. I have to read the label more, but I will wait until after I'm through with the cleanse. Thank you all for your input on this!

I'm not sure what the natural hair color you mentioned is made with, but if you have never used natural before and have 'normal' color on your hair and want to use normal color again to touch things up then I would advise you to wait. Mixing different types of hair color can result in disaster.

In cosmotology school when I was 18, it was strictly enforced not to mix. Henna and Nice & Easy are a couple of things we were told to stay away from, but there are others as well. If you want to know for sure how your hair will react.. ALWAYS cut off a lock starting from close to the scalp and do a strand test.

I dont think I could possibly stop colouring my hair.... especially for the 30 days i plan to do mc. I will try to stretch out my colorings if possible. I am only 25 and i have 75% grey hair, I dont want people to know!
I also am going to be putting extensions in my hair (using micro links, no chemicals) maybe that will help mask the grey roots coming in, and I wont have to colour my hair....
