Default Herbal Teas during the Master Cleanse?

I am about to start the Master Cleanse for the first time - bought the books and supplies but have one more question. Can I use some herbal teas while doing the Master Cleanse? To be specific, I have two Yogi teas that seem like they would be beneficial to helping me detox and keep my metabolism up and my appetite down (important to me since I have about 50 pounds to lose) - one of the Yogi teas is called "Detox" (with herbs to support liver and kidney function), the second is called "Fasting" (with herbs to support metabolism, elimination, appetite, and liver). Can I use these teas once or twice a day during the cleanse to help me through - or will they impede the results of the Master Cleanse? Thanks so much for your help!

Does anyone know an answer to this one? I really want to start this cleanse but want to make sure I do it right. I think these teas would help me, but I don't want to use them if they would hurt the results. I would really appreciate any help you could offer! Thanks!

I'm afraid I don't know the answer. Perhaps if you posted the actual ingredients of the teas, people would have a better basis on which to respond.

    hey Regan
no teas other than peppermint are recommended on the cleanse.

that being said, i'm a big tea drinker and i mixed things up a bit while on the cleanse. I actually tried the Yogi Detox tea and my friend pointed out that it had a whole heap of ingredients, including psyllium, which is a bulking agent, and which is not recommended for use on the cleanse. So I stopped using it.

I am thinking the fasting and the detox teas have similar ingredients and either way, to avoid any possible issues, i'd suggest not using them at all.

The lemonade is enough of an appetite suppressant. Just make sure you use enough maply syrup and drink lots of water thru out the day. The fast is miraculous all on its own, and as my buddy bayareababe always says, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    Best wishes on your journey.

Thumbs up Re: Herbal Teas during the Master Cleanse?

Hi, it maybe helpful for you to know that the lemonade is very satisfying and if you get hungry, you can alway just have another lemonade. I have done this cleanse about 6 times, and rarely get unusually hungry. It is amazing how it satisfies the appetite.

I think the guidance about not taking additional herbal teas is mentioned in both the books about the cleanse.

    happy cleansing!

I agree that we should not use anything other than the recommended tea. I think people seek to add other things as a sort of psychological boost, I mean they think be adding variety and that they are not missing out as much and satisfying a desire to cheat within a fair boundary. The peppermint will suffice in addition to your laxative tea. For variety, switch between lemons and limes. On 5 different occasions I have gone 23 days, so I think I have some creditability of opinion. Less is more in this situation, good luck and stay the coarse.

This is very helpful! I had the same question... Now, I also want to know is there a limit on the peppermint tea? And wot can we use as a sweetner? Can we use the maple syrup?

    Niki,

According to Burroughs, peppermint tea may be used "occasionally". We take that to mean once a day or less.

As for sweetener, the mods are mixed on that. Some say you can use MS or agave since it's allowed on the cleanse, others say don't sweeten any tea on the cleanse at all. So that would be up to you!

I just spent three hours replying to this post --- An hour apiece on three occasions with detailed footnotes, articles and medical reasons on why it is not only acceptable to drink caffeine free herbal and green tea during your cleanse but to do so will actually enhance your cleanse.

Each time I posted the reply it was "erased" --- meaning it vanished and I was told to log in again.

I am exhausted and frustrated and will not detail the merits of tea drinking yet again except to say that if you wish to drink herbal tea during your cleanse by all means DO.

I am a new member and those were my first posts any yet I do not believe I will post again as I found the whole ordeal of losing my beautifully and thoughtfully constructed posts to be incredibly trying and
do not need any added irritations during a Master Cleanse. Good luck everyone! I wish my attempts to be a part of this community hadn't been so abruptly curtailed.
