Hello, everyone. One of my main reasons for doing the MC this time is to lose weight. Last time I didn't expect weight loss, but after 13 days found out I'd lost 12 pounds. I expect about the same this time, but hope to continue on past 13 days.

I'm 55 years old and weighed 231 pounds as of yesterday, when I started. This morning I was down to 229 pounds already. I'm 5'8" tall.

Backtracking a bit . . . when I did my first MC two years ago I lost 12 lbs, then continued to lose weight until I was 202 lbs. Then I re-developed some bad eating habits despite being vegetarian, and went back up to 235, which has been about normal for me for the last ten years. This time when I get off the MC I want to go on a raw food diet. I just ordered two books to get me started. I think this is the only way I'll ever be able to lose weight.

Weight loss has been difficult for me because I have hypothyroid disorder and hypertension. Last time I did the MC I was still taking Atenolol for the hypertension, which I later discovered makes weight loss very difficult. I've changed meds now, and hope to overcome this problem. I was thin (145 lbs) until I was 38, then two late-in-life pregnancies and the development of the two diseases changed everything.

Well, I'm going to be here a while, so thought I'd stop by and say hello on the weight loss thread.

Hi, I'm on my fourth day of the cleanse and have lost 8lbs.(I haven't weighed in today yet) The first day I lost 4.2 lbs which really startled me. My 2nd day was the absolute worst. I felt like I had a hangover from hell. I had nausea all day and could barely lift my head off the couch, oh yeh and I can't forget the excruciating headache. I believe that I was detoxing too fast. I slowed it down by drinking less lemonade(which wasn't hard to do since I was so neusea) and took two long hot baths to try and draw out the toxins quicker. I also had a few blueberries. I have since gone back on track but have been cheating here and there. I am still averaging 2lbs. a day. Has anyone else experienced this.
This is my first cleanse and have had a long history of eating very badly and drinking a lot of alcohol.I feel this is why I experienced such severe symptoms. Should I be concerned about losing weight too quickly?

I don't know if that's too fast to lose weight. You don't mention how old you are or how much you weighed at the beginning. Also, what kind of diet were you on before you started?

I think a lot of the first day weight loss is due to elimination, so maybe 4 pounds was about right for that one day.

    hi guys

i am on day 6 today of my first MC. I am 5' 6" and started at 145 lbs and today i was 141.2 lbs. Although i keep on trying to say to myself i am only doing this for a life change and detox purposes, who am I kidding? i really wanted to lose weight and this seems like i am not losing at all! Ok i have lost a bit but yesterday i GAINED a pound which bummed me out. I mean some people have lost double that in less time!

I am following the master cleanse to the letter but I haven't been really active, I just feel kind of contemplative and slow. Do you think thats the problem, that i haven't been exercising ( except for a few walks?)

    thanks!

Mazziek, I'm wondering if your weight is close to normal anyhow. It could be that your body doesn't need to adjust downward in weight. Or maybe it will during the next few days. Maybe you were fairly close to perfect before. You don't say anything about your height or age so there's just a lot of questions in my mind about what you wrote.

I'm obese according to the BMI calculation, so it isn't surprising that I'm losing weight quickly. I'm on day 3 and have gone from 231 lbs to 227 today. I was thin up to age 38 and my normal weight back then was 145. I'm 5'8".

    Hi, MT

I don't think you need to worry yet about losing weight quickly. I've seen elsewhere on the board where people talk about averaging 2 pounds a day. (I wish! ) You could well detox hard if your diet has been terrible and you drink a lot. Your body will have a lot of toxins to clear out. Just be aware that if you keep cheating you're not really doing the master cleanse, plus you're continuing to make your body work on digestion and adding more stuff for your body to process out, so the detox could continue to be bad. I know it's really hard not to cheat sometimes, but it's really worth it! If you're finding the MC to be too hard, maybe you want to try a slower form of detox first—eating raw for a week, doing a juice fast instead, something like that. Good luck.

I'm one of those people losing two pounds daily, though I'm only on day four, and that could change. I think the reason I'm losing so well is that I was eating a very bad diet before, with things I can't handle at age 55, and because I'm obese. I started at 231 lbs and am now down to 225. If I were a more normal weight this fast weight loss wouldn't be happening.

Unhappy Re: Weight Loss on MC

    This is my first MC.
    Day 6
I thought I was doing it by the book but used ceyanne pepper oil instead of the actual pepper ( per vidoe blogs form regualr MC'ers I had researched.)
It tasted warm enough to me (spicewise)
I do the SWF every morning and lax tea at night . I'm doing the 8 tblspns lemons juice, 6 tblspns maple syrup( thought that migth be the prob) and now season the seyanne to hot...was doing 23 drops of the oil....to 2 quarts of spring water. only taking in about1- 2 quarts of water too.

I feel great usually and a slight headache today was cured by sippping water and having some of the lemonade. The acne day 2 brought is going away now...my skin is amazingly soft too!
My fuss is ...I have GAINED 2 pounds on this and look bloated some days.
I do feel good , I will continue. I did switch to real ceyanne pepper on Day 5.
So, should I add 5 more days to my original 10 day plan? ~~ Do I need to start over?~~
I did get some sorta solid BM's out this morning after last nights Smoothe Move tea.....it had just been water , bits of lemon skin, and yellow water for a couple days.
    Is that a good sign?
    Oh I 35 yrs old...5"6" and started at 158 lbs....weight 160 today.
My fave weight for me is 135-140
I feel like Eeyore. Like I am not going to quit but could careless about food or MC..
this is so odd, as when I watch my portions , food combine ect ..I lose about 2 lbs a week.
    Why not now???
Peace and good vibes to you.

AtomicCameo, maybe the salt water flush is making you retain water. I switched to Himalayan salt crystals today because they are supposed to end edema (water retention) which can be caused by other types of salt.

I noticed right away that the Himalayan salt left the water totally clear, whereas the sea salt I'd been using left it slightly murky. I used a tiny bit less than two tablespoons in a quart. That seemed to be enough for me, and tasted much better... like a broth rather than an overly salty brine.
