Thread: Weight Loss on MC

Smile Re: Weight Loss on MC

Ok, I'm going to have to use a calculator, cause I'm used to metric...
I'm 5'-7" (1m73), In the past couple of months I've already changed my diet a lot and started working out a lot more, so before the cleanse I had already lost 20 pounds (9 kg). I then weighed 152 pounds (69 kg), I have only weighed myself on the third day in the morning, I weighed 148 pounds (67 kg) then, so I had lost four pounds.
I don't have a scale to weigh myself, but this weekend at my mother's I'll be able to weigh myself again, I do think I've lost more weight. My sister weighs 137 pounds (62 kg) and she's the same height as me and I think her body looks perfect, so I want to have the same weight as she has!! Which means eleven pounds or five kilos left to lose! I think I will be able to do that, my new healthier lifestyle really makes me feel so much better and I don't want to go back to my old eating habits. It'd so cool to be able to swap clothes with my sis.

In the words of Vinnie Barbarino, "I'm so confused!!!!"
Ok, LadyNY drank a gallon a day and lost a lot of weight. HOWEVER, Stan Boroughs said for those that want to lose weight they should drink 6 glasses a day and that's it. My body is cleansed now (I'm on day 12), so hell yes, I would like to see more weight loss than just 10 measely pounds. I have an obese BMI of 30 right now, so the pounds should be dropping a little faster, no? What to do what to do? Drink a lot or a little? Res, if you're reading this, please advise, or anyone that really knows.
    P.S. Thanks Bahia.

I am on Day 6. So far I have lost 5.5 pounds. My goal is to make it to 10 days, maybe more if I feel well. Today was a hard day for me. I haven't felt hungry since day two. I almost threw all my hard work away and ate some burger king. I am a vegeterian so it would have been a veggie burger. But with all that extra thing it is very high in calories. I couldn't wait to come home to read more posts and people's experiences to help me to stay on the right path.

Red face Re: Weight Loss on MC

I just started my MC, I'm on day 2. The bad part about this is I am doing it to cleanse toxins but mainly to lose weight. Everyone I tell thinks I am crazy and says it's dangerous. I have read many many things about this and feel very comfortable....I need some reassurance that this is a good thing because I am already starving! My goal is to lose 30 lbs by Sept. 1, I can't believe this but my scale said I had lost 3 lbs overnight.

Cool Re: Weight Loss on MC

    Hi ThinAgain,

Day 2 and 3 are the worst. So, hang in there!

I'm on day 15 of my 15th MC and it just gets easier and easier.

For those who wonder about weight, in May of 2003, I was over 230 pounds (I'm 6' 2") and spent 6 months eating 100% raw vegan food. I dropped to 189. Then I felt like a needed a cleanse and found the MC. My first cleanse was 20 days and I lost 23 more pounds to 165. Friends thought I looked health, but awfully thin. I now weigh 176 pounds and it's three years later.

The point is you can control your weight by choosing what food you eat. NOT the quantity, but the type. I eat about 55 - 75 % raw and occasionally pig out on ribs or hamburgers and beer. But I do 3 or 4 MCs every year.

Best wishes for a great cleanse,
    Peter

Hey, just started the MC this morning. I am nervous. The guy at the health food store freaked me out and said the MC is not for first timers. He suggested starting with something milder. Well, doing it anyway. I turn 30 in 8 days and need a new lifestyle. Just worried about cravings because I stay at home all day with 3 kids and I am a junk food addict.

Is it okay to take the Senna laxative pills instead of drinking the tea? Not a big tea drinker.

    WannaB Healthy,
Just a couple things to point out:
    1. Just because you're on day 12 (as am I now) doesn't mean you are "Cleansed". It actually takes much longer. Check your eleminations, is stuff still coming out? Unless it is pure and clear of any semi-solids or brown water you are not fully detoxified. My first prolonged fast (60 days) took almost 40-45 days to acheive that.
The only indication that you are completely detoxed is when there is no more mucoid plaque in your colon.
    Lovely ain't it?

    2. You are probably retaining water if you aren't losing weight. Drink more regular water during the day. A gallon of lemonade is only 8 Tablespoons of M.S. which adds up to 800 Calories. Most people consume 2-3 times that everyday. Drinking more means you'll flush more. You can also do more than one SWF a day to eliminate more. This will probably clear out any retained water as well. Also, are you excercising at all? Even walking a mile or so a day at a brisk pace will move things through you more easily.

Be aware that you might be losing inches without noticing on the scale. I've hit a bigtime snag on the amount of pounds I'm losing. I'm currently in the 195-200 range and don't seem to be making much progress. But, when I look in the mirror I see a huge shift, and when I grab a fold of my gut I can tell a huge difference. One thing I would have done different from the start was to use a cloth measuring tape around my gut to watch the difference.

The biggest thing is to give up the expectations you have about the cleanse. If you have no expectations, it's harder to get dissapointed. You should also get comfortable with your body as opposed to be trying to fix or change it. I would suggest coming at this fast as a method to revitalize your bodies health and whatever weightloss you gain is an awesome bonus. Your body will naturally figure out what you need to weigh during the process of obtaining that health.

Just remember: The scale is only one indicator of weight loss (you may be retaining water or building healthy muscle tissue), Excercise (hop on Craigslist for your area and find a walking partner or an activity that seems fun; kick-ball, or pool volleyball, or even shuffling if you're in a cold environment), And most importantly you should have fun whatever you do in life, so enjoy the benefits you are obtaining while on the fast because stress, while an emotion, has an impact on your physical body.

    William

P.S. Besides how many of your "skinny" friends can ever say they have gone without food for 12 days? You should be proud and see it as an accomplishment!

Phatloss: There's no time like the first time. Just make the commitment to yourself to complete and you'll be fine. It's all in the "I told myself I was going to do this" thing. Also if you spend a bunch of money on Organic M.S. you'll be less prone to drop it. So buy about $40-50 worth up front. The great thing is you won't be spending money on food during this time. (one of the uge dissadvantages of doing prolonged Juice Fasts - a lot of fruit and vegetable buying).
As far as the Senna pills - I'd tend to stay away from them. They may be too aggressive if they are just Senna. If they contain other natural ingredients and give you 8-10 hours then I don't think it would make a difference.
I don't usually like tea either. Now if we were talkiing iced Chai tea from India, or Cha Yen from Thailand I'd be all over the stuff, but warm tea doesn't much do it for me.

    Sorry guys,

Made a mistake in my calculation. There are 16 Tablespoons of M.S. in one gallon of Lemonade. It is still 800 calories as there are 50 calories per tablespoon of Maple Syrup.

    Bahia,

You answered the question that's I've been wondering about... how long does it take for the solid stuff to dissapear from the BMs? 40-45 days! I am on day 14 today and my goal is 40 days. Maybe I ought to make it a minimum of 40 days and then keep going it the solids are still there.

I am very curious about 60 days. That's amazing! Were you doing the MC or a juice fast or other? Do you mind sharing why you went that long and what benefits come of it?

    Thanks,
    Luke

Hi, I am on Day 1. I am 5'0" and weighed 141.5 yesterday. My goal weight is 112, but that's not why I'm doing the MC. I have chronic fatigue and have been sick for years and I know that I really need to detox. Weight loss will be just a nice lagniappe-- albeit a *very* nice one. I am trying not to place expectations on the cleanse but I can't help feeling a bit excited when people post about their weight loss and energy gain! If this is really the fountain of youth and health it will literally be an answer to a prayer!

Seems we have quite a few petite women here who want to be more petite. What a relief to not have to feel apologetic for posting my numbers. The BMI calculator puts me just below the obese line-- and I've already lost eight pounds since last month, before starting the cleanse. So I was technically obese. The BMI calculator says that a healthy weight for me ranges from 95 to 127 pounds, and my goal of 112 is dead center. How about that? Glad I saw it! Thanks for posting it!
