I have been following the plan and using the tea each night. I've done the SWF 4 times. The second time I did the SWF (day 4) I accidentally put 2tbs of salt (rather than 2tsp). I can't believe that this is still causing me such water retention that I have put back on the 6lbs! I've been doing the tea on the mornings I haven't done the salt. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm exercising every day (yoga or walking), drinking 6 drinks and more water. It's really frustrating...
    thanks. J

    Dear J,

I found that on day 11 and 12 of my cleanse I put off the SWF until later in the morning. I found that my body did not expell the SWF as it should and retained a lot of the salt water. By day 13 I had gained 4 lbs of the 10 that I had lost. I was very discouraged.

I decided to to go off the cleanse on day 14 and figured I could loose the weight doing the Raw Food Diet. On day 14, 6 lbs dropped off. I was encouraged and due to other detox symptoms decided to go back on the cleanse.

I read and posted in the SWF forum and Mtmouse said,
"The SWF must be done first thing, on an empty stomach, or not at all. You should not drink water or lemonade or anything else before it."

Since then I do the SWF correctly, the very first think in the AM and have had no trouble.

I am on day 18 and doing well.

    I hope this helps.

    Sincerly,
    Weezhr

I feel like I just read my own post. I'm also 42 years old, about 70 lbs overweight however my habits aren't horrible. I've read the book actually 2 books and have been reading the posts to get more information. I'm terrified for the emotional detox more than anything. I've decided to 'plan' this out carefully - i'm a project manager so it's a habit. I've decided to start either on a Friday or Saturday night, taking Monday and Tuesday off - to see how my days go. I've also think if I start on Saturday my day 7 would fall the following Saturday which would give me that day off from work...however i can also take friday as well.

I know that the weight loss is an added bonus and I've dropped 90lbs by myself but now find that I'm stuck. I don't want to be stuck anymore...I want to go through that dark tunnel and come out shining on the other side.

Question - anyone see an improvement with cellulite bumps?

    Best Wishes to all,

I need some help! I am on Day 15 and I have drinking 6 glasses max of lemonade with 6 tablespoons of MS and some extra MS if I need energy. I do the SWF every morning first thing when I get up and lax tea every night. I weighed myself this past Monday and weighed myself again today (Friday). I am the same weight and am a bit confused. I exercised twice this week (spinning and cardio kickboxing) and have been sticking to the cleanse religiously (I think). My period is very weird - it has been coming and going for the past week. 15 days into the cleanse and I've only lost 6 pounds! Now, I am doing the cleanse for my health, but I'm wondering if I am doing something incorrect and trying to find out why I am not losing anymore. Can anyone help?

Kat01 and tmbg314: I started on a Saturday, so I would have the weekend to figure out my daily "routine". Also, I wasn't sure how the SWF would affect me so wanted to see how it went on a non-work day. I work Mon-Fri, have a 50 mile commute (one way) and have to be at work by 7 am. I got up at 4:15 every work day, hit the bathroom, then immediately made my SWF and slugged it down. I then jumped in the shower and got ready for work. Usually by the time I got out of the shower and started my routine, I had my first SWF elim. Then I would finish getting ready, make a double batch of lemonade and prepare my lemons for the rest of the day. Right before I left, I had to stop in the bath for my 2nd SWF elim. I then drove to work, and usually by the time I got to work, I had my 3rd and final elim for the day. I then started drinking my lemonade.

    Hope this helps! Good luck!

StephanieJ: It sounds like you are doing everything correctly. Weight loss, as attested to by other MC'ers, is variable. Some people lose a few pounds at the beginning, then nothing for several more days, then lose some more at the end of their MC. Others lose little weight during the cleanse and more weight post-cleanse.

For myself, I was close to 100# overweight before the MC and lost about 5 lb during the 3 weeks I prepped before starting the MC. I lost an additional 20 lbs on the cleanse and post-cleanse and so far have managed to keep all of it off. I am also exercising 5x/week. During the MC, I walked every day for at least 35 min. The way I see it, people who have a lot of weight to lose tend to lose more. Those who are fairly close to their ideal weight tend not to lose as much. You might try exercising more often, at least walking on the days that you do not do your regular workout.

Try not to get hung up on the weight and enjoy the benefits of the MC - increased energy, mental clarity, positive mood etc. Good luck!

    Ann,
Thanks for the valuable advice. You weren't specifically addressing me, but you were . I am 100# over. My beginning MC I told myself was for the benenfit of starting over with a clean plate...or is it slate? Anyway that is true, I have been most unkind to my body for far too long. I started to like all the right foods, healthy ones, at the wrong time as a good deal of the damage had already been done. My thought was start with something dramatic and hold steady to a new life style when I break the cleanse. I had only marginally thought about the weight loss until I started reading how much others had lost. Made the heart skip a beat and I thought WOO HOO finally adios to my ass!! The more I thought about it though I decided to just focus on the cleasing purpose and take any loss as a BONUS. Testament of that is that I purposefully did not purchase a scale before I started and I have only a general idea of my current weight. I hope, no I plan to MC for 30 days. Upon completion my greatest joy will to go back to the "Doctor" who told me that health for me could only be achieved through surgery and pills and tell him to, umm..., suck a lemon. Well alright, I probably won't say that but I do intend to have a pretty SMUG look on my face.

Hi soonergirl72: Glad I was able to help!

I too started my MC with the intent of getting healthier and reducing my BP, considering weight loss secondary. Having said that, I did weigh myself almost every day, as I was concerned about my BP (I have high BP), and wasn't sure what the SWF would do. I also checked my BP 2x/day. BP dropped, weight fell off, and I feel so much better!

BTW, I saw my Dr for my annual physical the day before I started my cleanse. I had bloodwork drawn to check my blood sugar, cholesterol, triglycerides, etc. All were abnormal. When my Dr. got the results of the labwork, she asked me to come in and discuss them. She was ready to put me on diabetic medicine and increase my BP meds! At this point, I was on my 4th day post-cleanse, so had lost 18# and my BP was much improved. She was so impressed! I told her about the MC and she was very supportive. Thank God for that! We agreed that I would continue w/ the exercise and mostly vegetarian diet (as much raw as I can tolerate) and then I will see her toward the end of October and have more labwork done. Hoping for stellar results!

I really feel sorry for people who have such ignorant Drs who feel that drinking lemonade for 10 days is going to harm them!!! Better the Dr should worry about the bags of Doritos or bags of M&Ms, or the lbs of unhealthy meat, or fast food their patient is consuming!

I have been making much better food choices post-cleanse, and have continued walking 5x/week. In fact, I walked almost 5 miles today, which would have been unheard of for me before the cleanse! Because of my exercising and much improved diet, my BP is 10-15 points lower and my stress level is reduced! One of my goals before starting the cleanse was to get back into a regular exercise program, which I have not done in 7 years!

So I am a big believer in the MC. I don't consider it a "diet", but a detox cleanse. And I think those who use the MC strictly to lose weight are bound to be disappointed long term when they gain the weight back after returning to their former habits.

My next MC will be in October.

Best of luck to you on your MC and journey toward better health!

Well Ann thanks again, you have only added more fuel to my already burning fire, lol. I recently joined a gym and am trying to work out a schedule to begin by Wednesday this upcoming week. I figure that will be my 6th day and I will be ready to blow off some steam. I appreciate all your encouragement. This BB is great to keep people motivated. I am sure I will be talking to you sooner than later. Hope all is well.

Amy: Yes, I think exercise is key and I'm really sorry I waited so long.

On the days that you don't go to the gym, can you go for a walk? I go to work too early to work out before, but I generally use my lunch break to walk.

What I do know is that all my attempts to "diet" in the past failed because I was unable to give up my food cravings! All the South Beach/Atkins/etc diet books don't tell you how to get through that. However, I found that the MC, after surviving the first 3 days, really "reset" me, both physically and mentally!

Thank you for reminding me that this cleanse isn't all about weight loss. I did lose another pound and I will try to exercise more. I did very hard cardio classes last week and felt burned out. I will walk more often. I'm so happy you were able to keep all the weight you lose off. I was on a low calorie diet pre-cleanse and am planning on resuming that way of eating, so I hope I will not gain anything back. The cleanse is very specific to the individual and I will keep that in mind and stop comparing myself to others progress. Thanks again!
