no nothing's changed.. This morning I am REALLY bloated and SWF took longer to kick in. My tongue is very coated. I have increased my water intake so i am drinking lots of water, 2 laxative teas (am and pm) doing the SWF in the morning and 6 lemonades...

Hi there. This is my first MC an I am on day 12 (hoping to do at least 20 days). My sleeping pattern has become all screwed up. For the last 3 days I have been waking up after 5-6 hours of sleep and unable to return to sleep for another 2 hours. After 2 hours I crash for 3 hours of sleep. Today, I woke up after the 6 hours instead of trying to go back to sleep. I did the SWF and had numerous BMs. However after about 2 hours I was so tired I had to go back to sleep. Anyone else having this?

Hi Peter. I know you wrote this a long time ago, but I'm hoping the site might notify you in some way that I responded. I have done 4 Master Cleanses in the past, and had some excellent results from them. The only side effects I had were hunger pains (only til Day 3), various food cravings on most days, and some moderate headaches. I was a little worried that I'd absorb some of the salt from the SWF, but I always had eliminations so I'm guessing that wasn't the case. (I had some friends that didn't have eliminations and got extremely bloated from all the salt.) I have Stanley Burroughs book, and I followed everything he said to the letter. Anyway, on those 4 cleanses, I had much more energy, felt clear-minded, more creative, and was easily able to carry out all my normal obligations such as work, social events, etc. This time I decided to try a water fast. I read from a few people (including you) that the water fast is even more detoxifying than the MC, but more intense. Well, the first 3 days were fine. Of course I had hunger pains, cravings and one headache, but nothing I couldn't handle. However, for the past four days I have felt absolutely AWFUL. I cannot stand up for more than one minute without overwhelming nausea & dizziness taking over. Laying down is only way for me to quell the nausea. This is a real problem b/c I haven't been able to shower in 4 days and have had many things I've needed to do. Also, I'm supposed to return to work tomorrow. Do you think there is any chance this will get better before tomorrow? If not, would you recommend buying some orange juice? I've definitely considered it, but there's no way I can get to the store in this condition, so I feel totally trapped! (Plus I wouldn't be comfortable going out in public after this long without a shower.) Have you done a water fast before? Any suggestions? Also, any idea why I would feel functional the first 3 days and THEN feel this bad? I thought it was supposed to be the opposite. Any insight you can provide would so helpful. Thank you in advance!

Hi EmilyNicole - I'm assuming you have figured out something to do since you posted awhile ago.
    But...
It makes perfect sense that you would feel worse after 3 days. That's when the real detox started kicking in.
I'm hoping you went to the mc instead of any other options. That would continue detox, but more slowly than water alone.

Also, anything to improve elimination would help. LAX tea, SWF, or an enema.
Remember that the crappy feeling is toxins being mobilized in your body on their way out.
So helping them move out fast helps you to feel better.

The symptoms I've had are: coated tongue, feeling cold all the time, headaches (days 1 and 2) and skin rash. Some of the benefits: high energy, excellent and improved mood, heightened sense of smell, 8 pounds lost so far, positive attitude, pleasant to be around (according to my husband) :-) and more.

My concern is this skin rash. I just wanted to know if people have experienced something similar. It's all over my face and neck, looks like tiny pimples, and itch like crazy. Started on day 4, and are still here on day 8. They don't itch as much today, which might be a sign they are improving (or so I want to think).

Anyone else experience these skin symptoms/changes?

Overall I am so pleased with this cleanse. I thought about giving up on the first two days, and now I'm planning my next one at the end of August when I return from a road trip in which hubby and I are going camping.

Much success and health to everyone!

    Hi nattie75

I am on Day 3 of the cleanse and yesterday, I broke out in a skin rash also that is extremely itchy and driving me crazy. It is all over my hands and arms. From what I have read, this is one of the symptoms of detoxing and since our skin is our biggest organ, it makes sense to me that the toxins would be exiting through our skin as well.

Keep your chin up and try not to itch. You are almost done!

I noticed over the past few days when I wake up in the morning I have a dull headache. But after I do the SWF and have a few eliminations it goes away. I find myself welcoming the headaches just so I can have them go away.

I have a great solution for that which I just learned about. I think it would be all right to do this on the cleanse. Try taking Melatonin. It's not a drug or an herb, it's a hormone that humans naturally produce, nearly all plants and animals produce it. It's kind of like the mother hormone since it controls the other hormones in our bodies. It is what is responsible for your sleep, wake cycle. If you can get to a health food store, buy it there. They have more pure brands. I tried some from Nature Made from a drug store but it has a lot of fillers in it. You want to buy it in the lowest dose you can find it in which I think is 1 milligram. Now keep in mind that in Europe you need a prescription for this and they sell it by the microgram, not the milligram. So you will want to cut the pill and you only need to take a little bit of powder. This is why I think it would be fine on the cleanse since you're only ingesting a little bit of powder -there's not much to digest. Take this every night for up to five nights about 30 - 60 minutes before you want to sleep until you start falling asleep at the right time and sleep through the night about 7 hours. One important thing, this is not a drug intended for you to take to make you sleep the first time you take it through the night. If that happens, that's great. If you take it, fall asleep, then wake up before 7 hours, DO NOT TAKE MORE! Just wait until the next night and repeat what I said above. The reason you don't want to take more in the middle of your optimal sleep cycle is that this hormone is training your body when it should be producing melatonin and make you sleep. If you do that, you will continue to wake up at that hour, not be able to sleep for a few hours, then sleep again. You want to train your body to sleep through the 7 hours consistently. I found this out the hard way and it took a few weeks to half life itself out of my body. Also if you can sleep somewhere where you will get lots of sunlight when you wake up, that will help a lot since melatonin is activated and deactivated by light. There are other great benefits to melatonin too. Apparently as we get older, our bodies stop producing as much melatonin as we used to, some adults stop producing it all together. I noticed that I had less of an appetite and I responded better to cold temperatures when I started taking melatonin.

That's my 2 cents. Good Luck

Unhappy Re: Detox Symptoms: Don't hate em. They're Milesto

Hi all! This is my first MC and today is my 5th day. I had a horrible headache(like someone stabbing an ice pick in my eye socket) and sickness on the 2nd day, and on the 3rd, I felt all tired and craving. I was walking down the street like a zombie, thinking about food.. Anyways, I have a question for all of you Rockstars here. I know there's a thread for tongue coating and I've read them, but I didn't find anything like what I have so I'd like to ask people here, if this is part of the detox symptom, and if anybody else has experienced it.

I suppose my tongue is slightly more coated than usual, but what bothers me is that right side and behind the tongue, and the lower inner part of the gum is damaged by acidity and they hurt.. I remember the same symptom occurred when I went to Bali several years ago and had loads of spicy food. Does this mean I have to stop doing MC or have to keep doing it so that it will clear...

Since I went through horrible headache and sickness, I don't want to quit now. But this is making it difficult to continue drinking the lemonade. Please let me know, thanks!!

I had quite a hard time myself.
But I managed to get by these headaches and complaints and also sickness using some sort of a placebo effect: I would lay in bed, arms on my belly, slowing down my breathing and trying to relax and imagine I am not having these pains.

After a while, it worked. It's called self-hypnosis I think...
    May you get well soon.
