thanks for posting Phil.grimm, but no epsom salts are acceptable. Burroughs says non-iodized sea salt and that's what we recommend.

yes browneyes things do get better. some people retain salt, it lasts a day or two but for some people it's always, so you should avoid the swf. try switching between the swf and the lax tea in the morning, like on thurs do lax tea and on friday do the swf. you should be okay.
as for the other stuff, headaches and such, check out the general help for newbies thread (link below) for natural remedies and other important tips.

    Hi there -

I'm on Day 4. The first couple of salt water flushes were fine, ended up with "butt pee" as they call it. However, today's SWF, after two "butt pees" I ended up with just plain old diarrhea. This somehow doesn't feel normal or intended. Any advice? Should I continue the SWF?

Red face Re: Salt water flush

    Hello.
Day 2 for me here. I did not attempt to do the SWF this morning, as I was in bed yesterday afternoon for several hours. I thought the SWF attempt yesterday is what gave me the crazy headache and exhausted, but have since figured out, it was the peppermint tea.
A few things I have noticed....
Since I am normally a 6 cup a day coffee drinker, and soda all evening, I was scared that my headached would turn into a migrain. i took 2 excedrin (with caffeine), and this has helped. I know they say take nothing, but it's either that or in the emergency room for major drugs.
The SWF yesterday, was only an attempt. It came back up. I did use warm water and a straw, but not grey celtic sea salt. I am going today to get that and try again. Does anyone know if they make a salt pill????

Default It's NOT that bad !

Okay, yesterday was Day 1 and it just sailed by without a hitch. This morning I am 3 pounds lighter on the scale. And I don't even have a headache. And I swear I am doing everything by the book - I am using the kit from the website, drinking tons of extra water, etc.

I thought "Can it be this easy ??

But I admit, I was dreading the salt water flush. I tried it once, months ago, before I had all the accurate information from the website and the book. I used table salt, used too much, and nearly gagged at the first taste. Then, last week, in preparation for this cleanse, I used a small amount of the grey sea salt recommended here, and it was better. But I hadn't made it full strength (I know, I know - that undermines the effectiveness, I was told. But I was just trying to sample the TASTE so it served its purpose then.) It was okay, but I seriously doubted that I would be able to stomach a large quantity when the time came.

Well, the time is NOW, I have my quart made, and I am happily working my way though the second glass of salt water. Despite the horror stories from others on this website - I THINK IT IS NOT THAT BAD !! I suppose the experience may vary from person to person, but if you've read other posts and are totally freaked out by the salt water cleanse - the idea of the taste - rest assured, you might not find it as disgusting as some others do. Give it a try.

I have yet to feel the percolation and urgency of a bowel movement, but I'm still early into it. I did feel a little twinge of something moving down in my gut a few minutes ago ... we'll see.

I just wanted to share my experience thus far (yes, I am only on Day 2 so don't look at me as any sort of expert !) because it seems like a lot of people have *horrible* headaches and nausea and kidney pain, etc. And that certainly may come for me, in the next 9 days. But at least the first 24 hours were VERY tolerable and the SWF is not a monster to be feared.

A word of warning, Kristin--and you may have already figured this one out, LOL--when you're doing the SWF, for the first two hours after doing it, take those "little twinges" VERY seriously. It may feel like gas, but it ain't!

Thanks for the tip !! I don't have plans to leave the house for 4 hours (from now, and I started drinking the SWF over 30 minutes ago .)

I can now hear percolating sounds in my stomach, though at the moment there is no pain or discomfort at all. I am anticipating that things will get moving soon !!

    Kristin

P.S. 90 minutes later ... I have had one liquid BM, but it wasn't too dramatic or explosive or anything like that. I only finished half of the SWF because I do have to go to work today, and I didn't want to get in over my head. On Saturday I have the whole day off so I'll go for it and drink the whole thing.

Hey Babe, jump right in, the water's fine. Welcome, also to the SO...
(significant other). I just finished day #3, no problems or unexpected occurrences to date, except I really seem to have my last day's food imprinted onto me & am itching for scrambled eggs with scallions & salsa!!
LOL. I think its beginning to fade from memory... we certainly are creatures of habit, aren't we. "Change is the only constant". My mantra for 2007. I'm already feeling "lighter" in mind & more orderly somehow.
GOD=good orderly direction. I have to use about 3 rounded tsp vs 2 since
I switched to celtic grey salt from another seasalt. It is more palatable. I'll save the realsalt inland seasalt from SLC for the icy front pavement.
I hesitate to set a goal bcz 14 days was quit time after MC #1 & MC2 ended prematurely due to vomiting & work demands, but I think I'll state for the record that 30 days might be a nice goal to shoot for, with quarterly MC's for the forseeable future, hopefully for the rest of my long & healthy, happy life. I'm thinking Methusalah... I've had such misfortune over the past 20 years that I want a do-over, and then-some.
I see my neurosurgeon in the AM, lets hope the bone-healing is proceeding well. Much love to all! Christine M

dear christinem, I spent more than an hour after seeing your post reading about sea salt, salt, and more salt-- and all I can say is you are the salt of the earth! wishing you all the best with the neurosurgeon in the AM, and thanks again for infusing us with some good orderly direction.

mtmouse, I had to chuckle over your wise words of warning to kristin-- especially as-- for some reason-- mine have indeed been-- quite a "gas": awkward explosive moments shared in our communal bathroom at work...

I recently was wondering if the SWF might be part of some traditional culture, and in particular, knowing that there are other "yogic" methods for cleansing (including swallowing gauze) I wondered if it had been done in India...So thanks for the story in your blog phil.grimm of your visit to the Patanjali Yoga Center in Kathmandu--very interesting!

    Talking Re: Salt water flush

    Explosion Question.....
How much explosion is okay? All day long or just a bout of it then the rest of the day is pretty normal. I cannot spend everyday, all day in the bathroom at work, since we have only one individual bathroom at work besides the communal bathroom. (Ironically, the individual bathroom as of this am is now "out of order")
Just curious if anyone can descirbe the normal explosion vs. what is too much - without being too graphic.

    dear cae1016:

Sorry-- I didn't mean to scare you away. Some people (myself included) start earlier in the morning so that they can do the SWF in the privacy of their own home... Mind you-- that can take a good two hours or more-- so now, I wait till I get to work. It isn't like you're flooding the toilet... I was surprised at the SOUND that came out of me yesterday-- (I'll try not to be too graphic)-- the reason was probably because I had been-- erhum-- a tad plugged up. Normally no one should really know what is going on... But you might want to try it out on a non-work day first and give yourself a chance to experience it.

    Wishing you all the best!
