No, it's not the same. It's okay to use for the MC, but it won't taste as mild as gray Celtic sea salt.

Quote:For people who are struggling with the SWF because they do not want to get up so early, I have something that worked for me. On days I needed to be somewhere early, I prepared my SWF the night before and had it at my bedside. I set my alarm 2-3 hours early, drank the SWF, and just went right back to sleep. About 1 1/2 - 2 hours later, I woke up and had quite an eventful elimination. Endquote.

This has been my concern: if I do the SWF in the morning before work, what if I'm not done eliminating by the time I have to leave??? I'm going to try your way--thanks for the advice! My only concern is that I'm already waking up a few hours after drinking the laxative tea to go to the bathroom--I hope too much uninterrupted sleep doesn't make me too tired. I'm going to bed early just in case.

Also, does the elimination time lessen as your days on the cleanse increase? Today I ran back to the bathroom over and over again for about 1 1/2 hours. I'm only on day 2, and this was my first SWF.

    Lisa,

If you aren't done before time to leave, then you aren't done. You really do need to time it so you are done.

That may mean putting off the SWF until you have a couple of days where you can try it and see how long it takes you. (Everyone is different, but most do find that they need at least an hour. For me, I always needed two hours before I could really trust that I could leave and not have any accidents.)

And no, for me at least it didn't change no matter how many days I'd been fasting (10 the first time, 20 the second time).

Once when I took a "chancy" walk in the neighborhood (it was after I thought I was done, but no bathrooms around and no bushes to duck behind!) I did wear a Serendipity pad. Turned out I didn't need it, but I probably felt more relaxed because of it. But, because I didn't need it, I can't tell you if it would have worked or not, either.

This morning's SWF experience was absolute torture, and I don't think I'll ever be able to do it again. I woke up at 3:30 am to drink it, and could barely get it down! I don't know if it's because I made it the night before, or because I used different salt (the previous sea salt had to be ground, this was pre-ground) but it was awful. I got down about 3/4 before I had to stop. Then I couldn't get back to sleep because I felt so nauseated. I lay there until the eliminations began--about 45 minutes--and then the next hour consisted of me lying down, getting up and going to the bathroom, and dry-heaving in the sink. I really felt like I was going to throw up, but nothing happened but dry-heaves. I was so cold that I was shaking violently, and would climb under the covers between bathroom trips (which wasn't much time, as you all know!) I was also thirstier than I've ever been in my life. I was craving ice cold water, although drinking it upset my stomach, so I was trying to sip it. By the time the nausea subsided it was already 6 am and time to get ready for work. I was still having to go to the bathroom up until it was time to leave, and then went once when I got to work as well. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. All I could think was "how can this be good for you?" SInce then my stomach has been burning, like I have heartburn or something, which I've never had except occasionally when pregnant.

So my question is, if I skip the salt water from here on out and just do the tea, will the cleanse still be effective? Just the thought of the salt water makes me start gagging again. I'm only on day 3.

Hi Lisa, yes, you can do the lax tea instead of the SWF in the am and pm. I would switch back and forth since I found each had its own merits. It sounds like you are in heavy detoxing. Also, are you using 2 tsp of sea salt? Celtic grey sea salt is milder to taste, and easier to get down. Also try making it right before you drink it in warm water. Drinking the lax tea takes a while to move through the system and usually has results through the day, where the SWF is typically over after 2 hours.

    don't despair!

I finally found some Celtic sea salt, and it really did make a difference with the SWF. The taste is so much milder than regular non-iodized sea salt. I still can't chug it for fear of gagging, but this is a lot more tolerable. I am happy because I just feel like the SWF is more thorough, and quicker, than the tea. Thanks bayareababe for the tip!

    Good for you!

BTW, there's no reason on earth to feel you need to chug it. That works best for some people, but it certainly isn't something to aim for. As long as it's mixed before you drink it, you don't have to worry whether you're slow or fast.

It really is amazing. I had been reading about some people using the Celtic salt, but I don't think I realized that there was a difference in the taste. Plus, my local Whole Foods did not have any. I found a small organic co-op that sells the celtic salt and Grade B maple syrup -- I can usually only get Grade A.

it IS amazing huh chuckles. Once I ran out of grade b and got dark amber, nuh-uh, not the same at all. As for the celtic sea salt, it saved the day! I don't chug the SWF either. I slowly sip it as I made my batch of lemondrink to take to work. By the time I was done making them, the SWF drink was done!

    have a good one.

Default Re: Skipping the Salt Water...

I have been on the fast now for 7 days. A little late, but I just did my salt water flush today with similar results as last time, nothing but gut pain - virtually no elimination and I am simply sitting here bloated. Surgery 3 years ago took out 18" of intestines, however I did fast after that with no problem. Could it possible be as a result of taking it around 5 pm instead of early a.m.?
Or could this require several attempts?
Or having used room temperature water, should the water be luke warm?

Some informative responses would greatly be appreciated as I would love to continue fasting regularly if this keeps up, there may be problems. This really is the primary issue which frequently moves me (pun intended!) to delay fasting for as long as possible, notwithstanding my desire to do it more frequently.

    Thanks for any input
    Dave
