The theory is that you should be well hydrated from all the lemonade and water, and the salt water is at the same specific gravity as blood so it is not absorbed into the body. It basically just flushes out the intestines. It is always important to stay well hydrated. Reality is that blood density (hydration) does vary and our measurement of 32. oz of water and 2 teaspoonfuls of salt may vary too. We are talking approximations here. My experience is the SWF runs through my system fairly quickly. But it would be good for you to check with your health care professional who knows you and your condition.
thanks SWF2go, the flush still hasnt really worked too well, i'm on day 5, and today i forwent it and just had the tea. I was reading on here that little to no eliminations are normal for some people so i'm feeling a bit better about that. Because of my job I think I'm only going to do 7 days (i'm a glassblower and a dance instructor and need food for energy!) so I'll try the swf again tomorrow. Thanks again!

I am in day 9 of the MC, and I have yet to have any major eliminations. I have followed the MC, drinking at least 10 glasses of mix per day and herbal laxative tea at night. I cannot bring myself to drink all of the salt water flush in the morning so I have been using the herbal laxative tea instead.
My 10 days are coming up soon, is there any hope in sight that this will work?
I have felt fantastic, I am a Pastry Chef and am around food all day and half the night. I have yet to even cheat once, have not had the desire to at all. Time constraints and travel will not let me extend the Cleanse any longer than 10 days. At this point though, another 10 days would seem quite easy to do.
    Any suggestions or help anyone?

I am on day #11 and have done SWF every day. I have lost 16+ pounds so far, so I know the results are strong. I KNOW the SFW is crucial to a successful MC experience.

I have to say, I have done the MC many times years ago with wonderful results. (since then I have done long juice fasts with herbs, teas and stuff) I just got the book and learned about the SWF. After trying it for the first time this morning (first thing on my first day of MC) I got a definate flush.
But I have felt dehydrated all day no matter how much I drink. My fingers and ankles feel a little stiff, like they would if I had eaten a salty dinner at a restaurant. (I don't use much salt in my personal diet.)
I guess I'm a little unsure of it. I think I will use some great tea that I have instead. I don't have a problem with elimination as I am into my 10th year of being raw vegan. I kind of flush every morning anyway.

As long as it is not iodized, it will work just like the coarse salt. You're disolving it either way

    Hello,
This is my first MC and we are starting thursday (my husband and son are joining me) - My question is about the kind of water we buy - we can only find distilled water - is that fine? -
